Cowtown Winery has a great selection of wines and a friendly environment. We did the ghost tour tonight with “Josh” and he did a great job of showing us the sights and sharing the ghost stories of the Fort Worth Stockyards!

Cowtown Winery is a small venue yet a great place to wet your whistle after strolling through the Shoppes on Rodeo Plaza. There is a variety of frozen drinks including Margs, Pina Coladas, and fruity Daiquiris that are reasonably priced. Try the Cava since its hard to find a local winery that makes sparkling wine. The service is fast just in case you want to take your drink to go!

We saw the Ghost tour on Groupon so we thought we would try it out. We got there and there were a few other people there for the ghost tour as well. So there was a little wait, but not too bad. You get one free drink with the tour, so I got a frozen drink which wasnt too bad. Therefore I decided to order another glass of wine(only $5), the peach wine to be exact. But I dont normally like wine, so this peach stuff was sweet and tasted pretty good to me. It would probably please most people as well. The ghost tour wasnt horrible, just very unorganized and not set in stone. A lot of the places she wanted to take us were either a business that was open and we werent allowed to disrupt the customers, a business that was closed, or a location that was closed off. She needs to talk to all these places and get a real tour in place. As well as not stop to look at all the stars too much, just walk and talk. All in all, it wasnt a horrible experience, the drinks were pretty good, and the tour was so-so. If you go on a better day the tour MIGHT be better, only one way to find out.

We just did this ghost tour tonight. So much cool history. We began to think it was just a sales pitch to go to these locations UNTIL...we looked at ours pics! Holy cow there was a ghost in our pics! Can you see it??

I had the sparkling almond wine, which was good, but the customer service was terrible! We were greeted with a scowl and the bartender continued to stand scowling at us until we decided what we wanted. I would have considered another drink but felt compelled to quickly leave.

Unfortunately this is one of my few negative reviews. We started off by loving the location and interior... The bar had been set, and off to a good start. Then the server met us with a scowl, very little energy or enthusiasm. I figured everyone has their bad days, cut her some slack. But when we asked if she like wine #1 she just responded with no. Then we asked wine #2 & #3, she again responded with no. Out of options to talk to her and try and get a human response over two letters I asked, what do you like? Her response, nothing really...maybe one of the dessert wines? Lol well a grumpy wine server that appears to hate wine as much as customers. At least I was going to get to drink right?? Well then we had our pours, and they were of good size. However the wine itself (we each had 4 different wines) were so bad we only drank 1-2 of them and left the rest. If you are from anywhere that values wine and great flavors I warn you...this is one of the worst places to enjoy wine. You would be better off getting wine from a gas station.

TL;DR Amazing wine selection, fun and funny ghost/history tour, and one of the nicest bar tenders Ive ever been served by.We chose this place after carefully considering a bunch of wineries in Fort Worth as part of my brothers bachelors party. My brother is a picky drinker who only really likes wine, so we knew we wanted to do a wine tasting type event but something with a bit of an extra kick. I had read a lot of the reviews on here and was a tad bit apprehensive after seeing some of the negative ones, but decided to give it a shot and ee could not have been more happy with our experience.First we did the ghost tour with Ms. Kay, or maybe its just K not completely sure. Shes a super sweet and funny lady who knows a lot about the history (both normal and paranormal) of the stockyards. We ordered our tickets in advance on groupon and they were very well priced, plus you get a free drink to take on the tour and 20% off any purchases you make after. If youre not a huge wine fan like myself they have several different frozen daiquiri drinks as well as pina coladas, I highly recommend the peach.Being a bigger guy the heat was a little too much for me so I had to drop out of the tour about halfway through and went back to the bar to wait. Georgina, the bartender, was an absolute sweetheart. She got me some cold water to cool off with, and would constantly keep it full without me even asking, and this was free water that she would expect no tip or anything from. Once the tour came back and the rest of our party was in the bar we ordered a flight of wines for my brother to try. She gave us generous pours, and even let him try a few others for free. She was super nice and friendly the whole time, and made the whole night for all of us.If youre looking for a few hours to kill on a Friday or Saturday and want to do some wine tasting thats a bit different than a normal winery I personally highly recommend Cowtown Winery.

Cowtown Winery is a favorite stop when we visit the Stockyards. They have a good variety of sweet wines - fans of dry wines will be not be enthusiastic. The jalapeno shooter alone is worth a visit for anyone. You can also get wine-a-ritas to enjoy as you walk around the Stockyards.

I visited this place with friends on a Saturday afternoon. Staff was friendly and answered all questions we had. The wine tasting is average pricing with ABOVE average pours! We had a great time and loved most the wines we tried. They even brought us small samples of wines not on the menu to try. I recommend anyone giving this place a shot!

Great atmosphere. Staff was friendly but really didnt know much about the wines, but were friendly. Dessert wines are very good. Other wines are good for a Texas wine, certainly does not compare to wine country wines.

I ordered 12 wines online, something I do annually. I brag about these wines, theyre usually fantastic. Two of my wines came mislabeled. When I called the winery, the people gave zero craps. They absolutely didnt care at all. Cheap chintzy ugly labels- I buy these as gifts. This really frustrates me. No offer to replace them, no offer to make it right, barely an apology. Also, youd think for the 12 bottles, and the astronomical fees so I paid for packing and shipping, theyd throw in a tasting glass or something. So really? Was this years profit on two bottles and the outrageous packaging worth losing a customer who has bought 12 bottles a year since 2013?

Randomly walked past this place while strolling the Stockyard. I love wine so figured wed stop in for a glass. They advertise having Happy Hour Monday through Friday, but we came in on a Sunday and they were offering happy hour on drinks, $5/glass, all day! So score for us!Since it was a Sunday, the place was pretty busy and crowded but we were lucky to have snagged a few seats at the bar. There were two young ladies working, apparently it was the last day for one of them. They were very helpful and recommended the Ghost Wine (dry red) that we ended up ordering...and loved it! The beau also ordered some snacks (meats and cheese) as well.On this day, there was a duo performing live music as well so our entire experience here was amazing. They offer flight samples too but we only came for a quick drink.

We went out tonight because my wife found their Ghost Tour on Groupon and we thought itd be a fun way to end our Halloween season. Well, the free glass of wine was good, but the tour was a joke.We are pretty sure our tour guide was either drunk or pretending to be drunk, but she referenced her nickname being Party-On and used it as a catchphrase multiple times throughout the 60-minute tour. The tour was pretty uninformative and mostly focused on the Stars on the sidewalk - several of which were for people that are still alive. Not really interesting stories to accompany them either and was more so just saying their name and their title. Heh. Weird and most people in our tour couldnt have cared less. I know this because I talked to several of them when our guide took a bathroom break. The stories that actually pertained to ghost followed a pattern that sounded something like this, People often see a ghost in the bathroom. The ghost will pull on peoples hair a little because they have a sense of humor. I talked to the owner and he said he heard people say they saw something. All good. Moving on. Repeat. And repeat. And repeat again at the next place.Uh... what? That was the general story for almost every location on the tour, aside from two locations where she told us about who actually died and how. Part of the appeal of ghost tours are hearing the stories about who they were when they were alive, how they died, and then tell us some of the local, paranormal legend of their afterlife. This was a lot of hearsay with no backstory aside from My neighbor swears she felt a breeze in that building over there. All good. Moving on.Honestly, the whole Ghost Tour feels like cheap marketing for their winery. And it obviously worked because we wouldnt have gone otherwise and still ended up spending $30 in addition to the $25 we spent on the tour. The winery is fine on its own, but the tour is laughably bad.

We have been going here for years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. However, over the last few months we have seen the wine portions become smaller and smaller. On our most recent visit the pour was literally half of what it used to be. It’s a real pity the management has ruined a place we used to treasure.

Went to the winery, very small but drinks were good . We did their ghost tour...it was awful! The tour guide chose spots to speak on the tour like busy intersections. The tour as a whole wasn’t polished and lacked engagement and intrigued. The tour guide mainly talked about the stars on the walkway , very little ghostly encounters. We left early and were really upset we paid money to hear about the stars on the walkway and the “sip n shop” in July (it was written on a sign).

I love coming to this place! My friend brought me here a few years ago and I go back monthly. I love the wine and how they continually bring new ones in. The atmosphere is cozy and sweet and it tends to cause the hours to fly by.I will say they do seem to be understaffed. Almost every time I have been in there it is one worker with many different people causing things to move VERY slowly, which in part causes many people to wander in and not be able to find a seat. So I do wish the manager would consider changing and investing in more employees. Otherwise, when they are not too busy I fall in love all over again.

Need to inform and educate staff how to deal with customers as well as educated them on the wine regarding origin of grapes, where its made and bottled and how to serve them if a customer is not pleased with the wine instead of the customer paying for a glass that was still full....staff should pour a little and seeing if customer was pleased with it before pouring the entire glass.. Ive been to many wine bars all over the United states as well as Europe where wine originated.. all of them give a taste before pouring esp. If the customer is not familiar with it. Not only that, no staff I have ever encountered has said that they could not adjust the bill or even say that they did not have the authority to do so. There is always a supervisor around or at least someone who can deal with complicated situations...not a pleasant situation esp. How it was handled. Even in Grapevine,TX the staff handles situations better than I have encountered at the Cowtown Winery

What a darling little place! Decorated in true Texas-style, Cowtown Winery welcomes you to the Fort Worth Stockyards. They do wine tastings, wines by the glass, & wines by the bottle! Plenty of dry reds & whites to choose from, a few ports, & even more semi-sweet fruit infused wines. Seasonal slushies & mulled wines too! Friendly, knowledgeable staff who pride themselves in going above & beyond for their patrons. I reccommend this place to everyone I know!

Bought their groupon for the ghost tour for my parents anniversary. You can only make a reservation online if you buy through them directly which is double the price. If you use the Groupon you have to call and make a reservation so I called, and called 19 times to be exact with no answer and even emailed them. I ended up having to pay on their website for 2 more tickets even though I had already bought on groupon. Very shady business practice. I was even planing to go with my significant other at a later date, not now. I can assure you that.
