Was a enlightening and fun experience. Went with my partner today and the exhibits were inspiring! The hallway art was something special to behold and the art work was very impressive. The staff we encountered (Daniel) was very friendly and gave insightful comments. Would recommend this and the Kimbell especially when looking for a free and safe attraction during these days.

Hadnt been in YEARS! Decades, actually. The whole cowboy thing didnt really much for me, really. Went today & was BLOWN AWAY! The Remingtons & Russells were amazing. The temporary exhibit, Culture Shock was FANTASTIC! YES, more American art, please!! Now, we have a THIRD museum to LOVE in Ft. Worth. Already big fans of The Kimball AND The Modern.

I visited a few years back and recall the impression I had of looking at some of these paintings; the size and enormity of some of them really needs to be appreciated up close. Though many of these were painted during the early stages of photography, the paintings seem to be one of the best ways for the scenery to come alive. Even when paintings worked well as a median, some of the best photography of native Americans had also been on display.

I enjoyed looking at the famous Remington statues along with many western themed American art. For that but of the experience I would give the collection top marks. The docents on the other hand, do need a review on staying unseen and supportive to the experience. We were just about circled by them as we walked through the galleries which is very distracting. I was repeatedly barked at by a docent downstairs while gesturing toward a painting with a closed hand no more than 3 feet away even after taking a step back. Absolutely ridiculous. Even if I didnt have a BFA in sculpture and taught art for 10 years in the area, I would still be appalled by her behavior. As many museums as I have traveled the world to visit. This is the worst treatment I have received thus far. Could be that Im Hispanic and didnt look the part so I was treated with no respect.

This a great little space here in Fort Worth and its another free gallery just like the Kimball. They have an excellent collection of Thomas Cole paintings and a Frederick Edwin Church as well as other artists from the Hudson River School. They also have a magnificent collection of Remmington and Russel Western Art both painting and sculpture.

This small museum is surprisingly good even though I am not very familiar with American art. A number of art-works have a cowboy theme, which resonated in me as I just visited the Stockyards before coming to this museum. The museum also has a small but excellent selection of modern art and photography. The best thing is, admission is free and the museum is air-conditioned. The staffs were very friendly and helpful, and they let me deposit my bag for free. If you plan to visit the big 3 museums (Amon Carter, Kimbell and Modern Art) by public transport, you should visit the Amon Carter Museum first, which is at the top of a slope. Kimbell Museum is halfway down the slope and Modern Art Museum is at the bottom of the slope.

This was my first time at the Amon Carter Museum and I was wowed. Beautiful exhibits, along with very friendly ladies at the front desk. They kindly told us about rules of the musuem, that photography is allowed, no flash, and please just keep a respectful distance from paintings. Told me what is where, and sent us on our way. The security is around, but non-intrusive to the experience. A pleasant experience through and through. A return trip will be occuring in the future.

This is a great little art museum. It is quite different from the Kimball, which is also fantastic but more of a traditional art museum. Amon Carter has a more contemporary feel with big Art. The museum features two painters of an idealized American West Remington and Russell. They paint big canvases with lots of color. Remington does a lot with dark colors. There are also a few OKeeffe canvases and photographs upstairs. There is a very cool string rainbow by the stairs (look up). Takes 2-4 hours to go through.

Its a great museum, and its free so everyone should go see it ! Its in a very modern building with amazing architecture and a beautiful view of the Fort Worth skyline. For some people the paintings may not be so impressive if one is used to European art, but there are many impressive native American and Western paintings that are definitely worth seeing ! I recommend looking at all of the amazing sculptures which are absolutely stunning and shouldnt be missed. It can get a little boring upstairs because there is a lot of photography, but the unique architecture and layout of the entire building kept me excited to explore. Go see it !

The museum itself is lovely. The art was really beautiful, especially the bronze. I like how there is so much information in the history and methods of the art. The building is in a convenient location. There are cute seating areas outside for cooler weather with an amazing view.My main complaint was that the security employees were so intrusive and made the visit very uncomfortable. Not all of them, but 2-3 of them followed my friend and I from room to room throughout the museum. Neither of us had large bags or were making noise, but at one point one of them rushed into the room we were in as if we were about to do something, and this wasnt even a room with open art, just glass cases. I ended up feeling rushed and skipped a good portion of the museum and left early because one employee in particular was literally walking about 4 feet away from us for the previous 3 rooms.

I am a huge fan of the work of Frederic Remington and C.M. Russell, so I was thrilled to see a large collection of their paintings, sculptures, and drawings in this wonderful museum. If you love Remington & Russell, be sure to visit here (and also be sure to visit the Sid Richardson museum not far away because it also has key pieces of their work). This museum also has a wide range of other important and interesting pieces that illustrate American art throughout our history, and their visiting collections were also wonderful. The staff was very welcoming as well. Definitely one of my favorite museum visits in recent years. Helpful details: its free (they encourage a small contribution), they have a small free parking lot, its two stories tall and has multiple galleries, you could rush through it in an hour or take your time and spend three or more hours there. The gift shop is fantastic.

After a nearly year long remodeling, the museum is open now for member and press advanced previews. It will be open to the general public, at no cost, on September 14, 2019. The exterior work, on the wheelchair ramp to the main entrance, for example, was continuing as we visited. The majority on the changes were made to the second floor galleries. They were opened up considerably, to expand the floor space. Many items have been brought out of storage for well arranged exhibits. The extensive and comprehensive Remington exhibit is wonderful. There is an interesting interactive exhibit in the SW corner involving machine vision and algorithms for generating computer graphics.Weve long been members, even though there is no cost to visit.

Very good museum. With the recent remodel, there seems to be an emphasis on photography or other modern media, but it works well with the classic Remington works.
