Excellent tour guides! Super nice & family-owned. Eco- friendly boat and you can see the sparkling microorganisms at night by moving a stick or your hand in the water. Night sky was FULL of stars and tour guide pointed out constellations. Beautiful. Never forget!

It was very cool there, you have to go late at night to the lagoon. The bio-plankton only light up when extremely agitated, so start swinging that stick in the water.

This is the best way to see the lagoon. Specially with kids, we didnt want to paddle for 2 miles ( 1 mile each way) and get wet at night. The boats are usually booked days in advance, so call before going there. They are the only ones with boats, all others are kayak tours. The kids were able to enjoy, play with the water and they gave sticks so they could move the water. Charlie and his crew, gave us information about how the bay glows. You wont regret, specially if you just want to sit, relax and enjoy the view.

Our night excursion was fantastic my family really enjoyed it. It was a once in a lifetime experience I wanted my family to experience in their ancestral community. Our guides were very professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend them for people who may not or can not kayak.

Disappointing. No view and left with a million mosquito bites which is of course expected being near a lagoon. The instructors from the kayaks and the bigger boat option talked amongst eachother asking where a better spot would be but neither said they could see anything but still traveled around the lagoon. I did not see a thing in the black water but the guides insisted it was there. They even broke out a plastic tarp and made us get underneath it to get a better view.Wish they wouldve offered a refund or a rescheduled tour. Not worth the price, definitely a tourist trap.

The service was excellent. Although we didnt see the bioluminescence (the tour guide had fore warned us about the possibility of not experiencing any) the boat ride itself was fun. The company gladly refunded the money for all the people on board. I kinda felt bad because it wasnt really their fault but they were courteous enough to do that.

A nightmare experience in booking. After several calls attempting to book and no one answering, we finally got through to the owner. She said we were booked for the day we wanted but she would call us back the next day with a time for the boat ride, as the times changed due to scheduling/sunset etc. We called back multiple times over multiple days and were ignored- either told they couldnt talk or completely ignoring our calls and voicemails. Truly a disappointing experience to be ignored after booking and we HIGHLY recommend avoiding this shady company. There are so many other professional companies out there who will treat you with respect!

Nice and easy trip to lagoon. Kayaks would have been fun but electric boat was relaxing. Don and Manuel were friendly funny and knowledgeable.Note! Cash only and I had not been told...thankfully husband was traveling with spare cash.

Given there are only 7 locations you see these bioluminescent organisms, it was on my bucket list; however given you can only see at night and we were on kayaks, one is not wise to bring a cell phone or or a good camera with flash to preserve the memories. The night sky stars were as amazing the the luminous water. The tour price of $50 I thought was high. So I would not do it again.

Captain and crew welcome you and treat you like family and have no issue explaining things or answering questions. If you come with an open mind and sense for adventure you will leave a much happier person. I would definitely go out with them again.

Excellent experience. The captain and crew treated us as if theyd known us forever and we had a very pleasant chat in the hour we waited for the tour. As we went through the mangrove trees, the guide taught us plenty, and the lagoon itself was really cool. Naturally, the bioluminescence will never look like it does in professional photos with fancy camera settings, but it was still awesome. Try and go as close to a new moon as possible.

Something we didn’t know before going out onto the boat was that there are about a dozen companies to bring you out onto the biolum bay. Don’t look any further. This group is the one you should do it with. This group was super fun and knew their stuff, both about the science behind the biolum bay and how to entertain you.First, the kayaking experience is over rated. This group has a boat that they use to bring you to the bay, and you can extend your hand into the water or use sticks they give you to trigger the light. I loved the boat as opposed to the kayaking because the bay is actually very far away from the beach that you start from. You have to travel a decent distance before you even get there, and I would hate to have to do that in a kayak (and I’m pretty fit).Second, this team has a guy who knows his biology. My husband and I were both biology majors in college, and he was spot on with everything and explained the science really well, even to children.Lastly, this group knows the bay so well that they took us all around looking for the best areas for the light reaction and explained historically how the recent hurricanes and storms affect the light reactions.Overall, just book it. It was an incredible experience and this group knows their stuff. Kayaks are not the way to do this, do it in the boat.

I was shocked to see the review wrote by other travelers 1 week ago, which means this company is still alive. Me and my friends booked their Jan 2018 tour in Aug 2017. Because the hurrican we couldnt contact them easily, and one of our friend finally talked to their staff by the phone# post on the website, we have been told that all trips cancelled, we would be contacted by sb later, which we totally understood. However, afterwards all of us tried many many times, by email, by phone calls, by facebook, no any responses. We thought might be something happened to them after the disaster. We felt sorry and didnt mention this again. Now all of us plan to come Fajardo again and I started to plan our trip, suddendly found the newly review. This is terrible, how come you guys did this to us? We paid more than $1000 USD and we want our money back!!!

Took the 6:30 PM boat on a half moon night with husband and 2 friends. 8 guests on the boat and 3 crew. Lots of room. Mario the guide had a wealth of info and Greg the captain maneuvered easily among the pesky kayakers who failed to keep up with their own tours. Take the power boat to enjoy the mangroves and the bio luminous effect, very cosmic. The sunset departure had the bonus of bird and lizard sightings too.

These guys were so awesome and friendly they explained everything in detail and answer to every question you had. They only helped with the tour explaining everything in a way you can understand, but help with anything else about the island you needed to know definitely worth the trip I would go again!

Traveling with a toddler, we were looking for options to enjoy the bioluminescence and this turned out to be even better than we had imagined. The staff were very friendly in giving us all the specifics about the area and water levels. As we started our journey, we realized how useful it was having a Marine biologist as a guide. We enjoyed learning about the mangrove forest and iguana spotting helped distract our toddler. Our captain took a lot of care throughout the journey and made us feel safe. Spending time at the bioluminescence bay itself was a magical experience. We couldnt really capture any pictures but its definitely a memory to be cherished. Ive come to believe that trip to Puerto Rico is not complete till you visit alreast one of the three bioluminescence bay the place has to offer. When Bioisland makes it so easy to visit, I see no reason why one would hesitate.

The guides were awesome the mangroves beautiful going through at night. The bio luminous water was disappointing to say the least, The only glow you got was by putting a stick in the water and swirling it!

Cool tour - definitely do it by boat vs kayak unless your looking for a blind, nighttime workout with 30 other people crashing into you with their kayaks. The speed of the boat enhances the bioluminescence, allowing you to see it much more prominently. Also, the guides are fun and very knowledgable - youll learn more than you think but all in a good time.

This was a really fun and memorable addition to our vacation. It was well worth the drive from our hotel in San Juan, especially because El Yunque was on the way! The bioluminescent microorganisms were just one element that made the boat tour special. Mario, the tour guide, was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and passionate about his job. The mangroves were gorgeous and the whole area was very serene and picturesque. It was the perfect end to a day spent hiking in the rainforest. Highly recommended!

We decided on Bioisland after reading all the great reviews on TripAdvisor..Our guides were both knowledgeable and informative and answered all questions our group threw at them..We went on the electric motor boat instead of the kayaks and so glad we did as it did not look like many of the kayakers were enjoying themselves.

The best way to tour the bioluminescent bay. the guides were very informative about the bay and the mangroves and its resident iguanas. the ride through the mangroves is beautiful(they dont have that in Vieques). i dont feel like the experience would have been as good if we were stuck with all the kayakers. its a pretty good distance in the dark to the bay with many many other kayakers. not a trip for beginners yet theres many of them and that causes it to be even more congested. SPEND THE COUPLE EXTRA DOLLARS AND DO THE ELECTRIC BOAT TOUR. i promise you its worth it.id suggest doing the latest tour because the darker it is the better youll see the glow. the pictures online are a bit exaggerated, the concentration in all of Puerto Ricos bays its not what it once was due to climate changes/pollution. also the lights from all the nearby resorts make it less optimal to view the dinos. for that reason they use tarps attached to the rail of the boat. you have reach under the rail anyways to stir up the water to see the glow so not a big deal(i am pretty short at 53 and had to stretch to reach the water, another woman on my tour couldnt reach at all they do give you sticks). again, its not a blinding, brilliant glow, more of a sparkle like little bits of glitter in the water.its a pontoon boat so you dont really have to worry about getting wet. parking wasnt a problem and theres lots of vendors and a couple restaurants in the area. theres the rainforest and a few snorkeling tours also in the Fajardo area so you can spend the whole day out there exploring(i did horseback riding on the beach at Rancho Buena Vista and a mini boat snorkeling tour).
