Growing up in Humboldt country this park was always a part of my childhood. Its as beautiful today as it was so many years ago. The fact I played at the park, my children played at this park, and my grandchildren will as well is amazing. Definitely a wonderful place for gatherings or just an afternoon of fun.

Sequoia Park will always feel like home. We moved away from a few years, and I wanted so badly to just stroll the trails and play with my dog and daughter. The first chance we had to move back to Humboldt, of course we took it! The very first thing we did when we came back and after arranging some stuff was take a nice walk through this amazing park! #homesweethome

Sequoia park is a beautiful place to visit and explore. Breathtaking giant Redwood Trees cover most of the property. There are walking trails throughout the park. You will discover delicate bushy ferns, Rhododendron Bushes, wild Lillies and other local flora and fona fill in the landscape at the base of the giant Redwoods Trees. The park has a flowering garden area with benches and wishing well made out of rocks. There is a zoo with monkeys, bears, otter pond, other animals, bird aviary, flamingos, petting zoo for kids with barn yard animals, other displays and educational/learning areas all over the grounds. Nice gift shop, small novelty items such as marbles, rocks, books to quality clothing, blankets, kaleidoscopes, local souvenirs and more. There is a clean and quaint restaurant where you can order lunch and eat either indoors or sit outside. Quality food is offered such as grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers, fish and chips, salads, homemade milkshakes, fries, ice cream and more. This park has a playground with swings, slides, climbing equipment, merry go round and more. Wood Picnic tables with BBQ grills can be used for outdoor birthday parties, family gatherings or asomething different to do on a sunny afternoon. Next to the play ground is a large grassy area for tossing a Frisbee, playing kickball or spread a blanket in the grass and kick back with your favorite book. Sit a while in the covered Gazebo taking in the magic of a Redwood Forest. Under the cover of giant Redwoods there is a large group kitchen/BBQ area and picnic tables for planned events that can be reserved for a fee.In addition to the walking trails there is a paved road where you can either walk or drive through the heart of the parks Redwood Forest that leads you to a duck pond in a lower area of the park where you will find a dozen or more ducks live. There is a small play area for toddlers plus wooden picnic tables and benches for sitting while watching the ducks or taking in the scenery around you. You can also walk to the back side of the pond where an old rock fireplace and chimney still exists from a once charming cottage that had been built on the property in the early 1900s.When you leave the duck pond you will climb a steep paved hill. At the top is a waterfall that is a long time favorite on hot days for kids and dogs alike. The Sequoia Park is in the the process of being upgraded in phases. One of the most exciting things to be added will be a skytrail. There will be more up grades and additions to the playground, zoo, trails and public areas. There is a fee to enter the zoo. Everything else is free to the public from dusk to dark.
