This place is true beauty. The dirt roads are closed sometimes so you have to walk in. Thats a good thing cause it keeps the place quieter and gives you a chance to take a the scenery. No glass bottles and make sure to take all trash with you. The water is chilly and Crystal clear. Be safe and respect the area. Great place to mountain bike as well.

Bidwell Park is absolutely gorgeous & not only a great place to take your dogs or go for a hike but it makes for fun photography as well!As for any grassy mountain area, etc. you need to watch for rattlesnakes but it’s their home... Respect it & you should be just fine ️

Beautiful park and a huge reason to enjoy Chico except... the homeless trash, hypodermic needles on the ground, bum fights and unsafe feeling is more than enough to stay away. I would never bring my daughter here. This seems like a huge lawsuit against the city waiting to happen. I hope the ELECTED city officials can learn to protect its tax paying citizens and natural resources better in the future. Its a disaster at this point.

Awesome place to hike. The creek is nice to cool off in. Mountain biking is good if youre into slow, rocky, technical climbs and downhills. Some hike-a-bike sections mixed in. Start at wildwood Park and climb north rim to B trail, about 4miles. B trail is a fun 1.5mi section of mixed technical rocky downhill switchbacks with touch of fast, flowy single track. Take a left on fence road when B trail ends and follow it till it dead ends. Cross the creek and follow the trail up and out(keep right) until you hit Annie Bidwell trail. Take that back to South rim/legacy trail. Head out of the trees, follow the rock wall that runs along the creek to centennial drive and eventually it runs into 5mile recreation area. Cross the bridge at 5mile and back up to wildwood trails and back to the parking lot. Nice loop. Pretty challenging. Go early to beat the heat.

Chicoans are beyond lucky to have this gem in the city. 20 years going and I still find new trails to hike, new nooks to explore. Spring is best, summer and fall are stickery in the uplands, but the scenic vistas inspire year round. Bravo, Chico.

We are so fortunate to have a beautiful Park like Bidwell Park nestled in our little city. With 3600+ Acres of park land its the third largest Municipal Park in the country. Having grown up in Chico I have been hiking, biking throughout the park and swimming in Chico Creek with friends for over 30 years. There are many great trails to ride your bike, to hike or just take a leisurely walk with your favorite canine companion. There are many quiet spots to sit and chill Creekside. When the weather is hot swimming holes abound including salmon hole and bear hole to name a couple. I cant say enough good things about upper Bidwell Park. Its one of my favorite places to visit.

Enchanting views and well maintained trails make Upper Bidwell a perfect place to hike any distance, even when hiking along the road you are surrounded by the sound of running water and the surrounding foliage. As you hike further in youll find plenty of sandy banks to enjoy the creek, volcanic rocks and rushing waters, waterfalls, and secluded glassy pools of water.

This park has so many different points of interest to discover. I started out with the basic Monkey Face hike, trip to Bear Hole via Yahi Trail or walking the upper trail. What is unique about this park is that there is so much more to it, some things you wont discover until quite a few trips down the road because there are more trails and sights then easily meet the eye, and I have yet to discover the end of a trail by walking. Its beautiful, but depending on where you go not a lot of shade is available, so you might be best off planning visits around the temperature.

Great bike trails, hiking, and a observation/ fishing pier that extends into the pond. There are even concrete parking and concrete walking areas constructed in the gravel parking lots just for handicapped access with picnic tables overlooking lake and handicapped parking on concrete ( vs gravel) next to the porta-pottys located at both ends.

Amazing creek and scenery. There are great bike paths for bikers to go on. There are beautiful plants, lakes, creeks and the list can go on. Yes this is not the best place to bring toddlers and people who NEED whelechairs, but for commonly active people it is great place to visit. I recommend to you that if you are in the area then you should go to this place for not only for beautiful sites but to get some fresh air. And no there is no WiFi.
