Beautiful garden trails, its really not huge but you could spend all day wandering the different trails. My dogs were so happy to see the squirrels and smell all the different smells. Nice walk for all of us.

I thought the UNC Charlotte campus was very pretty overall. The botanical gardens were nice, too, but small. I think the section on the right, as one enters, should be renamed an arboretum. There were few flowers on that side, and it had a wilder appearance. I saw the entire garden in less than 1 1/2 hours, which is less time than it took me to drive one way. I cant see returning; however, it is a lovely portion of campus for the locals.

Perfect cute spot right in the university area, but once in there you feel secluded and relaxed. Trails are marked and nicely kept with gravel for the most part. Mostly shaded which is nice. Even when flowers arent in bloom its beautiful. Not very big so you can actually explore the whole place in one visit but youll wanna come back anyway

Even though its fall there were still some blooming plants and it was welcome to be among the trees and plants. The trails are not well marked. A few colored arrows would help.

I was not expecting these to be so expansive and shady. Lots of kids on our visit and rightfully so, this is great for kids. It offers lots of interesting scenery and lends to the imagination while also showing off a variety of beautiful plants for adults. Greenhouse is currently closed.

We decided to check out this Botanical Garden that is located in the Charlotte area this past Monday, as we was visiting the local area. Weve had these gardens bookmarked for a while now, and finally got some time to stop by and check them out. Because of the gardens are located on an open college campus, parking can be challenging. They do have 4 FREE visitor parking at the greenhouse, but its first come first serve. When we arrived all the parking was taken and we witnessed the school campus security writing parking tickets to the vehicles that didnt have a campus parking permit. But after waiting patiently for about 10-15 minutes we was able to get a parking spot. The gardens are well maintained and they are truly spectacular and beautiful. I could definitely enjoy them through out the year and it appears that the school has planted plenty of plants and flowers that will bloom thru out the year.Im sure that we will be back in near future and will recommend them for friends and family members to visit.

The best thing in the greenhouse is there are different room such as desert room, tropical room and such where you can see plants that belongs to each category.

1st visit - Amazing selections and variety...so very well thought out. The beauty of this well- cared for artistic garden overwhelmed my heart!Just visited again and was able in get into greenhouses this time. If youre a plant lover, dont miss this! Take your time and savor. A horticulturist was able to take me on a 15-minute highlights tour. It helps to understand the layout to be able to dive in and explore. They have plants from all over the world, as well as NC natives. The staff are super friendly and helpful.

The gardens did not appear to be wheelchair accessible from where we entered at Van Lanzingham Glen, as the paved part ended mere feet inside the gate, but this place definitely should be accessible to all. Excluding a portion of the community who would enjoy the gardens must not be the intention, yet it is a fact.

Its quaint and very well maintained. They have their own small parking across from the Green House with signs. Youll have to write down your vehicle license plate once you enter so that you dont get a warning citation. Not crowded at all and the entire exhibit takes only a half hour to fully explore. Thanks UNC.

Review №65

My most recent visit here was this past Spring for the annual plant sale, which was very well priced, organized, stocked, and staffed. While scouring their incredible selection of plants for sale, I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff Gillman, the Director of the UNCC BG. A very bright yet humble horticulturist and author of several books on the topic, Jeff was kind enough to offer to take me on an impromptu guided tour of a portion of the nature trail to point out several actively blooming trees/bushes. According to Jeff, Spring tends to be the most vibrant season to walk the trails owing to the many spring bloomers in their collection. While I agree with Jeffs statement, the reality is that there is a constantly evolving beauty present every season along the trails of the BG. Thus I would recommend visiting anytime of the year or, better yet, multiple times of the year to get a full appreciation. In addition to the eclectic mix of foreign and native flora along the nature trail here, across the street you will find their greenhouse also boasts a fabulous collection of plants, including orchids and carnivorous plants, that require more attentive care in climate controlled housing. Entry is free to walk the trails and enter the greenhouse, where volunteer staff will greet you upon your arrival. If planning to do both, Id estimate one could easily spend a couple hours here taking it all in at a leisurely pace. Bottom line: Take advantage of this local UNCC treasure!
