Full size hornets themed basketball court with 6 total hoops. Rims have a single ring, unlike most park hoops that have double ringed rims. The double rims are much harder to score on. Nice pavilion space with a charcoal grill. Pavilion needs to be signed up for on Charlotte parks website. Indoor bathrooms under pavilion are well kept. Large grass area, splash pad and park equipment make it a good place for the whole family. There are also some paved trails that run through a natural area away from the main park space. This is a great Charlotte Park.

Look up Edward Dilworth Latta to see who the neighborhood and park are named after. There used to be a lake in this park that was drained and a pavilion and theater that were demolished. “Charlotteans strolled the shady paths that led them around Lake Forsythe and admired the flowers, lily ponds, and flowing springs.” -cmstory.orgWhen I went a few months ago no one was social distancing and it felt very much so like the neighborhood it was located in. Very homogenous, pristine and clean. I prefer parks that have more nature and variety. Reedy Creek Nature Preserve is one of my favorites in Charlotte! This one felt a bit boring to me, especially compared to what it used to be historically. Unfortunately Charlotte has a pattern of destroying history to build new.

Awesome park, safe and well maintained. It’s got something for everyone with picnic tables and a pavilion, nice basketball court and playground. My favorite part is the trails (pretty short, some paved, some unpaved) through a wooded area. You can hear owls around dusk sometimes!

During the pandemic one of the safest park activities is walking - this one has lots of trails, many beautiful flowers, and free parking for a reasonable number (if theres no place to park, its probably not a good time to come)

One of my favorite parks in Charlotte, have been coming here for almost 35 years. Brought my children here to the play area and splash park when they were little, and I continue to come several times a week. My only complaint is people in the neighborhood walk their dogs off leash and I have been charged by several off-leash dogs while walking the trails.

Beautiful, in a quiet neighborhood and well kept. There are lots of more private-ish areas along the pathways if you want to sit down and eat or rest. Theres a good playground, basketball court, volleyball court, bathrooms and water fountains as well. It looks like there was an interactive water fountain (the kind that is designed for people to run through), but it was being serviced when I was there so Im not sure thats actually what it was.

Very good spot to take the kiddos. There’s a large playground that even includes a little splash pad. It has a large area for running around and trails that are perfect for walking dogs. It also has an area with soccer nets, although that can sometimes be patchy. Great little neighborhood park

My kids love the splash pad here we go at least once a week when its open and the kids play in the water for awhile and then go to the playground when they are ready to dry off. Only thing I dont like is the swings are really high up and there is nothing for my baby to do on the playground. Its def for the bigger kids

It gives the kids somewhere to run but unfortunately, the splash pad is super small, its always packed with locals AND field trips, parking is a nightmare and bc the space is underutilized there just isnt enough room in the play areas for everyone. It is my least favorite park in charlotte.

Latta Park is a wonderful little gem. If you want a nice place to walk your dog or just take a stroll with a friend. This is a perfect place to go. If you have young children Latta has a playground. There is a covered overlook that has tables and a charcoal grill that would be a great gathering place for a group of people, but you would have to reserve the space through the Park Department. There are a few other grills and benches to have a picnic. I have seen people put up hammocks. Its a wonderful place to read or meditate. My favorite activity is to go birding and enjoying nature. There is parking available.

Every time I go to this park, there are always people having fun. They could be playing on the Hornets basketball court, having a cookout, utilizing the playground, or walking around. Whats really cool about Latta Park, is that it has a hiking vibe to it without having to leave the city. This is true especially in the fall with all of the foliage!
