Hello I’m in the fourth grade and last time I went here there was a simulator and it tought me how to fly a plane and it was super cool to see what all the planes look like

Very Cool! Planes that range from the first flights at Kitty Hawk to the US Airways Flight 1549 that landed on the Hudson in 2009. There are hands on exhibits, like sitting in a Cessna, sitting in a jet cockpit, in a commercial plane cockpit, and even a flight simulation. Definitely worth multiple visits.

It’s a decent place to visit, needs more attractions though. I am aware it may be difficult to do so but will make this place even better. It is cool that there is US Airways flight 1549 on display. I recommend visiting just make sure you wear clothes that fit the temperature as there is no air conditioner in the hangar.

Had an opportunity to bring our family here during a family trip. The staff was super pleasant, and were almost as thrilled about aircraft as our excited 2 year old. Along with that, they are knowledgeable about the various aircraft in their care. There is more than one aircraft there that the staff can happily share details regarding its background

Review №7

The place is small, but every single airplane inside of it has a story that makes it all worth it. You can get up close to airplanes that have a amazing stories. The staff is espectacular. Even though the museum is self-guided, there are personnel all over that can help you and explain to you facts. Everything is labeled perfectly. They even let you go outside on the tarmac to see other airplanes they have and, if you are lucky, see other airplanes moving on the runway and taking off/landing on the airport. There are a couple of airplanes that you can get inside of them and take a pictures as if you were a pilot. In addition, there was a airplane simulator.Originally, I went to take my father that is a big fan of airplanes. He was like a little kid getting excited for every new airplane that he saw. He was definitely most excited to see US Airways Flight 1549 that landed on the Hudson River. An interesting fact one of the employees told us, was that the airplane only suffered minor damages when landing on the river and that the majority of the damages it currently has were caused by the boats moving it.Definitely recommend it. Im saddened that they have to move to a new place.

This museum inspired me more to want to travel and go to the military. My daughter was soo intrigues with a the Boeing American Airline airplane. She wanted to know what happened in detail and who was there and how and why. Something educational in the Charlotte area for the family. We now have matching t-shirts to remind us of this special event.

Its pretty small, but the entrance fee is also cheap. For an av geek, this place is probably great, but for a casual observer, its just meh. The highlight is the US Airways Airbus A320 operating under Cactus 1549 that made the emergency landing in the Hudson River.

♡ It was an emotional and grateful day and moment . I cant even fully express my emotions. I was able to see and touch the Airbus 320 from the Flight 1549 also known as the Miracle On The Hudson Plane. Im honored to stand here, in front of the AC that performed the greatest ditching in the history of the Aviaton. ♡

The Carolinas Aviation Museum isnt large as aviation museums go and features both military (mostly Navy and Marine Corps) and commercial aircraft, but the centerpiece of the museum is Airbus A320 N106US, the aircraft that was ditched in the Hudson River by its crew on 15 January 2019 after multiple large bird strikes. The aircraft are all well taken care of and beautifully presented and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Its definitely worth the trip to Charlotte for; it was the primary reason I included Charlotte on my road trip and I’m glad I did.

What a neat museum and definitely a must visit when in Charlotte! I thought I was not going to enjoy this and it looks small from the outside, however, it is a must see! The museum is in an old hangar. I was really impressed with the US Airways 1549 plane on display. This gave me goosebumps! I liked seeing the exhibit and learning more about this. Another cool part was all the period pieces and getting to see how aviation has changed throughout the years. I also like how you are able to sit tin the cockpit of a few of the planes. There is also a 3D flight simulator as well to try your luck at take off and landing. A really cool exhibit to walk thru and watch planes next door take off. Make sure to visit!!

Neat place for aviation enthusiasts. They have quite a few great examples iconic aircraft in really good shape considering their age. The center piece exhibit is the actual Airbus A320 from the Miracle on the Hudson. Lots of great info. The kids enjoyed the flight simulator and getting into a couple of the cockpits.Keep in mind there is no AC where the planes are, but it wasnt too bad even with 90+ degree temps outside.

Interesting albeit small aviation museum with the Miracle On The Hudson USAirways Airbus on display as the show piece. With both indoor and outdoor exhibits, this museum is a good place to spend a few hours...like on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The F-4 and B727 cockpits are fun to sit in...especially for kids interested in aviation. Its not a large museum, but worth admission. Easy to get to at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and free parking. No food is sold, but there is a small gift shop area.

The museum is a great value. We had a wonderful afternoon touring military and historical planes, climbing into a cockpit, and pretending to fly fighter jets. The only reason that I cannot award 5 stars is because of the heat. Really surprised how nice and entertaining this museum was. So many planes, plus the open cockpits and the flight simulator. The huge, C130 was great. Plus a Harrier, F14, and some of the Machine 1 Sonic planes that broke the sound barrier. But the biggest surprise was the actual 737 that Sully landed - the miracle on the Hudson. Amazing to see it in person and stand within inches of the actual plane. On top of it all, the staff were obviously aviation fanatics. So much passion and care for the visitor experience.
