Festival of India is one of the major attractions in Charlotte North Carolina. Its an 2 day event happening at Charlotte Uptown mainly in the Belk Theatre. This is the biggest Indian Event showcasing talent from all parts of India. It covers, various dance forms like Kathak, Bhangra, Bharathnatyam etc. It also has theatre to showcase plays. Its a great platform for beginners as well as professional level artists to showcase their talent. They have both Indoor and Outdoor stages. Apart from performing art they also have paintings for Adults and Children where you can showcase and display your art work in any form. This platform also hosts different kinds of Indian boutique for both men and women at low price. They also sell Indian jewellery and other decorative items.Apart from all this the major attraction is the food street. The whole street is filled with food stalls from all over India. Mouth watering Delicacies from North India, east India, west India and south India are seen all over covering Non Veg and veg food.

My wife and I visited the festival of Indian this last weekend in downtown Charlotte. The different dance and musical presentations were very entertaining. The festival seemed to be laid out well with many food and garment vendors. Everyone seem to be captivated with the regional music and dance. If you are not of Indian descent I would recommend attending the festival with someone with knowledge of the culture. I might also recommend to the organizers to provide a PA system to assist with explanation of a dance or musical demonstration. As I have come to realize there are drastic differences across regions of the country and explanation of demonstration may even be helpful to those of Indian descent, born in the states, and never travel to India. All in all we had a great time.

LOVED IT 2018. Attended both days. beautiful dancers, best spicy, exotic, flavored food and deserts, beautiful skirts and jewelry for sale. Blessings to India. Not that it matters, however they played the USA National anthem. We r in USA. I thought it was classy!!! Awesome festival .
