Beautiful place! Took my maternity photos there and they turned out wonderful! Was not crowded at all when I went there in the afternoon on a Tuesday

Its smaller than I thought it would be. If you are going cause you want to take a nice long walk down the river look elsewhere. You can finish up a walk here in about 15 minutes.

My dog and I went just got back from a hike at ISWA Nature Preserve and never will go again. The shoreline is littered with trash and looks awful. It really saddens me that people are so disrespectful of nature. It is a disgrace, the county needs to clean it up or organize a group. Put trash bins up, something to discourage fishermen, boaters, squatters or whoever is camping out there and leaving all their trash. I am very discouraged that Gaston county is not on top of this. We pay High taxes to Live and enjoy nature in a clean, safe environment. Please clean up your beautiful forests.

Nice hideaway spot but wish it had an actual riverwalk

The Preserve would be an amazing place if people knew how to clean up after themselves. There is trash EVERYWHERE once you go off the paved path.. Charlotte is apparently full of pathetic people who cant clean up after themselves. Its a nature preserve for Gods sake. If the public isnt going to maintain it, then the city should. Other than the mounds of trash that people leave, its a great spot to enjoy the river and fish.

Nice area. Not too long of a concrete path but there’s plenty of space to roam without a defined trail. The dogs love it! So many smells and sounds. I see many fisherman there too so it might be a good fishing spot. Right on the water but no boat access there. Open from dawn to dusk daily.

Its a nice place to go fish. It could use some triming back along the waters edge line of some of the limbs so lines dont get caught up. But overall a good place

Great place to go and be on the banks of the Catawba river

Love going here to fish, but people really need to pickup their trash and take it to the trash cans they have provided for you to use. I end up picking up a ton of trash every time!

Absolutely beautiful old Carolinian trees standing in symbiosis with the river...

This place has the potential to be really nice. Unfortunately there is a lot of poison ivy along the trail and trash all over the place. It’s a shame people are so lazy and selfish to not carry their trash out. My kids still really enjoyed the walk and finding shells but just be careful with the poison ivy and broken glass.

Trail along the shoreline of Lake Wylie, some great places for dogs to swim and play in the water. Lots of trash/litter left by fishermen, beware of hooks and fishing line left behind

Great quiet little trail. The pavement ends quickly but there is a foot trail that continues. It is blazed with a purple square, and seems to end near the train trellis. Only saw 4 other people this morning, two other hikers and 2 folks fishing off the bank. My dog loved how easy it was to get into the water to cool off! Not maintained great, a few downed logs, some trash, and brush right up on the path.

Disappointing. No purpose. The entire time we heard traffic, 18-wheelers, and horns as they drove over the bridge - and we were there at 6am on a Sunday morning. The trail was not maintained beyond 20 feet, and completely stopped after 50 feet. There is no view. Nothing has been planted. We were there to fish. Stayed 4 hours and none of us had a nibble. We typically go to Uwharrie. This just seems like a parking lot next to the bridge. It seems like the city couldnt get a business to buy the land so they converted it to a park to avoid taxes. Do not recommend.

Nice nature trail, you can fish along the bank. Buts its pretty shallow water. Recommend fishing on the other side of the river.

The scenery was awesome but the people are littering and leaving broken bottles and broken fishing lures in the water...very dangerous even with alot of signs posting no alcohol or camping hence the bottles and fishing paraphernalia
