Currently they have a Statue/Garden Art display and fund raiser. Each of the 62 exhibits are for sale, although many are already purchased. It was a beautiful and fun walk to see the gardens and read about each display. They had a clear map to help locate each one and great signage on each display to learn the artist’s interpretation.Parking was ample. The walking path is manageable and safe. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend this!

I live in Chapel Hill North Carolina and the botanical gardens is one of my favorite places to spend a few hours. Frequently, in addition to the plants, one can enjoy an exhibit of sculptures that have been placed around the area.. The collection of carnivorous plants native to North Carolina is magnificent. Although presently closed due to the pandemic, one can usually enjoy a game of chess using the available large metal pieces and a board that you walk on. The gardens are arranged in a more or less academic matter. There are plantings that are typical of the various natural environments of North Carolina. Also of interest are the sections that contain plants of industrial or agricultural interest. The section of poisonous plants and the one categorizing flowering plants botanically are very enjoyable. There are a number of buildings , now closed due to Covid-19, that contain a gift shop, library, art exhibits and, usually, plants for sale. Interesting lectures and courses are also frequently offered. It is a great place to visit and,, perhaps,, have a picnic lunch outdoors.

Well taken care of gardens. It took me about an hour to walk through and get my enjoyment out of it. There are no long trails or anything here, simply short walkways around the gardens. Parking was easy, even at noon on a beautiful Saturday.

Beautiful gardens, very well kept. We went for a Sunday stroll and had a great time. They have many different types of plants: flowers, bushes, acuatic grass, trees etc. My favorite was playing with fly eating plants, that close their petals to catch a fly. If you are planning on visiting the gardens soon I would recommend to wait for the end of the month, because not all the plants are green yet.

A jewel set on over 700 acres off Fordham Blvd and it’s free!It was a dreary, cold March day so we didn’t check out the trails but will be coming back.We went into the main building and the homemade quilts hanging on the walls blew us away; they were all works of art! The gift shop has some unique and amazing things to buy, too.Open: 9-5, Sun 1-5, closed on Mondays. Can’t believe how close this garden is, my new favorite place to go~

Weve visited twice so far. On the first visit, we enjoyed an introduction to the flora of NC which was helpful and instructive. This helped to form a framework for our understanding, beneficial for later travels around the state. Three years later, we didnt really enjoy the time we spent - there was an exhibition of local artists work which was distracting.

Beautiful garden, well taken care of, with many points of interest. Kids loved the fish tanks, the giant Chess and finding tadpoles and frogs.Shop is overpriced. There could be a picture beside the name of the plant. Because everything is mixed together, it sometimes difficult to know what is what.

Very nice garden and its free (they do accept donations). Its a good learning environment. It is divided into different ecosystems of North Carolina. It has an area for kids. There is also an area where you can watch birds and other cute critters feeding on the fallen bird seed. You are also able to leave the gardens at various locations to go on trail walks.

An average garden. There are far better gardens in Durham and the surrounding areas. Dog friendly path keeps you far away from bring able to see any of the main attractions withing the garden area. My girlfriend and I came here as our time visit. The layout of this place as a whole gave me the feeling of being in a natural garden with a few fun things sprinkled throughout like a giant chess board and the cabin. In my opinion I would have appreciated a clearer division of plants and direction in which to walk to give me a sense of an experience. For example, the poison garden does have a beautiful gated entrance into the area. However, as you walk the path you end up walking right into the herb garden. This would be great if they closed off that connection to have you go in and out from the same entrance gate.I appreciate the free admission but I wouldnt mind paying a small entrance fee if it meant the proceeds would help go towards developing the gardens. The location has a lot of potential.

Ooo la la! Not only is this piece of heaven mighty fine, but its also downright otherworldly. False. Its North Carolina-y. Which might be even better!! North Carolina, I love you. NCBG, you love NC, too, and you do it so much justice—thank you for creating a stunning botanical museum where we can feel at home with every step. From the mountains to the sea, you can check out the flora stretching across our state in a leisurely walk around the property.Know someone whod like to see the gardens but isnt able to do so easily? Theyve got you covered! All terrain wheelchairs, baby! Youll need to park, go to the education center building, enter the door to your right (next to educational flower display), and talk to the person at the info desk. Theyll help you out! That said, if youre the person in need of assistance and do not have a compadre with you, call in advance to inquire about whether they offer parking lot delivery of the chair.Yall, Im so excited for your visit!
