Great park for all kinds of recreational activities and within several minutes from downtown Cedar Rapids. Paths are great for walking, running, or cycling. Waters are calm and perfect for canoeing or kayaking. Plenty of fishing spots that offer solitude. Dog loves going on walks here. Paths are ADA compliant and very accessible from the parking lot.

Whether you are fishing, walking the path or sitting in the sand by the water enjoying the peace and serenity, this is a good place to go.

Bank access is pretty limited and you have to walk a decent amount to access some open areas. If the water is high you can not access the part that allows you to walk out onto the island area. The lake is connected to the river so that happens when the water rises. Otherwise you can walk out on the island area. I caught a couple small largemouths here on the NED rig Minnow. If you have a boat this place would be much more enjoyable for fishing.

Took my new kayak here during the week. Was a nice little pond/lake and was able to navigate quite well. Fishing was not so great but the river had just created into the lake and the water was super muddy and blown out. Still a great little hot spot for in town fishing.

The fishing sucks. People are on top of each other trying to fish. I like to be secluded when I fish. I havent caught one fish here ever. And I fish a lot.

If fishing from shore its one of the worst places to wet a line in Linn County. Shore access is terrible and the majority of fish primarily hold up in places well out of casting range from the bank.

Used to be a quieter place. Now its a very popular site for fishing, canoeing/kayaking, bike riding (look out for riders they dangerously dont share the road around here), joggers, walkers, and other very active outdoor pursuits. My dear is that at some point, this park will become over used and the nature will be negatively impacted in both Flora and fauna.

The fishing here is so-so. They do release trout here a couple times a year so if youre into that I guess its pretty good. There is a trail that goes all the way around the pond side. There is a boat ramp on the side that inlets into the river which is impervious to current when the river is high. Theres also a spot there for the handicapped to drive down to.

Pretty park. No playground, but plenty of room to play-- fish, walk, run, bike ride, rollerblade/skate, even picnic. If youre lucky, youll see an eagle or 2 flying about as this area has become their home & sanctuary.Decent parking lot room with 1-2 porta potties (lifesavers!).Bring your own water, as theres no fountain or faucet (which is kind of a bummer, but youre an adult, thus you should always plan on bringing ample fluids with you, regardless, to any new place).Enjoy the scenic 1.8+mi paved loop trail that links up in close proximity with the dirt/gravel Sac & Fox trail to the south & east.

This is a great urban fishery, stocked with both rainbow and brown trout. There are also many other species present in the lake, from Channel catfish to largemouth bass, even Walleye and Northern pike. The only downside is that it tends to become quite busy during the nights and summer months, and can get over fished at times.
