Nice 4+ miles trail. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed it. Little confusing, better to keep the map or AllTrails app.
A beautiful place, you can see the big dam, blue lake, like a big sapphire.
It is located at the trail head of Laurel Ridge Trail, which is my wifes favorite trail. The trail will cover small hills and riverside walks, excellent view. Unfortunately the water level of Lake Lanier is at almost record high since 1964 according to NPR. So we only hiked half way until we reached to the bridge, water submerged the bridge, we had to return. On the way back, one seasoned hiker told me that you could walk around off road and there was another bridge in the same condition. I dont know how long it is going to take for water level to go down(more rains to come according to weather forecast), and how long its going to take to fix the bridges.
I enjoyed walking/running this trail. I recommend trail shoe rather than a running shoe here. the terrain is pretty rough in terms of stability. the big negative for me is I didnt like the trail markings. sometimes they were there but most times nothing. there also want a trail map near the parking area. this trail needs a little love to make it great. Ill probably go back. I hope the fix the bridge thats out.. seems like a good eagle scout project :)
Nice place to visit, several trails close by to walk, the only downside is pets are not alllowed
Beautiful and serene. Kids enjoy the nature
Beautiful place for a picnic. Nice view of the lake.
Beautiful views, picnic spot & hiking trails
If things are going difficult walk in here at evening. Find yourself a nice rock down the lake. There are several paths that will take you down the lake shoreline. Sit on the rocks and just see the waves for a while. Try dropping the thoughts that are making it difficult and just be with the waves for a while. Even a momentary moment when things are going tough will be a welcoming experience. Bless you
Lake Lanier has beautiful views and plenty to do. Its a great family attraction
Enjoyed hiking out here.
Lake Lanier is a great spot. Weekends are crowded; weekdays are awesome if u can do it.
Wonderful serene place to watch the lake mid week
Good break point while walking the trails.
Nice area located immediately after crossing the dam. There is ample parking, restrooms, tables, grills, and an observation area. There is plenty of open shoreline or fishing. It’s also a great place to observe the sunrise in the morning. The parking lot also serves the entrance to the trail leading down the side of the dam.
I loved this serene park. I could relax here for hours. Too bad that it is crowded at times
Great place to spend weekends with family and friends.
Good trails/Nice views
Love the trails and love the view of the water
Great location to overlook the lake without having to deal without too many people. It’s fairly quiet and secluded most days. Nice little spot!
Nice quiet spot to relax at!
Great view awesome trek
This is my happy place!!!
Great place to see the lake, take a hike, explore nature, and have a picnic. There are lots of turtles in the little pond near the fishing shack for the turtle lovers out there!
I hiked the Laurel Ridge trail yesterday and I have to say that it was a great trail! The trail starts at the Lower Lookout Parking. I hiked up to the Upper Lookout parking lot and then down to the dam where the Chatahoochee River starts. The trail goes throughout the forest for about 2 miles and then comes back out on Buford Dam Rd right outside of Buford Dam Park entrance. The trail then leads you into Buford Dam Park parking lot. You have to walk all the way to the other end where the upper parking lot is and then the trail begins again. Once you get on it it will take you through the woods for about another mile and a half and it will end right back in the parking lot of the Lower Lookout! It is a fairly easy hike and definitely great for kids! All together I believe the trail is 4 miles, maybe 4.5 miles.
Peasants memories great vews!
Beautiful and clean park with restrooms available. Overlook of the lake, walking paths and picnic areas with tables and grills. Lots of families. Dogs are not allowed at this park.
Calm, Serene and Beautiful.Seems like management takes good care of the place, keeps it clean and maintains it nicely. They provide you with a place to hang out and do barbecue/grill, right next to the lake. Always windy. Lake is usually not busy, mostly a few people who wants to fish and a few yachts/boats in the lake in the afternoon. Cops patrol the area, so, its a safe parking lot. Though, we saw a family in trouble with their car getting robbed.
Good place to go. Had lots of fun, and would love to go there again.
Good spot for barbeque and for spending so e quality time with family. Parking was easy and weather is good for most of the year. No entry fee as well.
Fun location. Usually not crowded. Sufficient parking for about 20-25 cars. Family friendly location. Benches to sit around. Barbeque areas and tables for a small party.Good access to the lake. Always find a few people trying to fish. Never saw anyone actually catch one.Did manage to get my feet wet and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with my daughters
Absolutely Beautiful!
Great park to visit! Nice trail to hike and many picinic benches. Stunning view of the lake!
This is such a photogenic place, you can walk on both sides of the river. Not usually crowded at all.
It is good now nice park. But the parking is very limited. Waited for a parking spot more than 20 mins.
Nice short hike, 4 mile loop, good for kids.

Lower overlook trail was difficult but fun. Trail is a bit confusing to find at first
Its a good place to grill for free on the water
Very impressive dam. Always fun to drive across and see how deep the water is.
Great views, nice hiking near by, plenty of free parking, restrooms available.
I love any part of Lake Sidney Lanier!
Clean and well kept
Very nice and comfortable
Crowded on the weekends, too many people leaving trash along the trail.
This is where the Laurel Trail begins. Great hiking trail! We encountered deer, chipmunks, and the usual squirrels.
View was amazing. Didnt get to catch any fish on the far right side.
Very good
One side was closed
Beautiful ovelook with grills and seating. Great access to laurel ridge trail
Today we start the September month with this beautiful weather .

It was good going there but there is not much space to relaxe or park
Nice place for picnics and toobin the Hooch!!!
An awesome place to experience near shore of lake lanier, it is very shallow here and you can take a dip.
Always pretty and relaxing here. They have trails for hiking or you can walk down to the beachy area. They also have picnic tables and grills.
Excellent fresh water lake to take a splash, perfect water temperature, the amenities lack convenience.
I love lake lanier but I keep my distance now after everyone has warned me dont fo back. Im an adventure girl.
Love this trail! Especially when the rhododendrons and mountain laurels are in bloom
Good spot for parking
Best visit ever kids friendly water is clear and clean .
Good place to go and have a picnic. Might have to find a good trail to get really close to the water. Not a ton of great places to swim. Peaceful.
Little known park at Lake Lanier where you can see the bottom of Buford Dam and the Chattahooche. A paradice for trout fishermen.
Great free area to admire the lake and enjoy nature.
Very calm and relaxing.
Great place to stop and enjoy the view of the dam and Lake Lanier.
Nice little park. Wonderful view and many picnic tables with grills. Also has a restroom building.
Beautiful
It was good, fresh air, water, not too crowdy and some efforts for walking up and down
The Laurel Ridge trail around Buford Dam has been one of my favorite hikes since the early 1990s. I am glad to see that more people are discovering its beauty and accessibility to Atlanta. The trail is well maintained and the scenery is awesome. You can even see deer, in season. Worth the drive, and some good exercise.
My sister and I call this our lake therapy Location to relax and collect our thoughts with the beautiful scenery
Was here today at Buford Dam really enjoyed today.
Beautiful destination with lots of picnic tables.
