I came here on a weekday after work close to 7PM, and the parking lot was full so I parked along the street. The trail goes up Gregory Canyon and reaches a viewpoint, and then it goes pretty much alongside Flagstaff Road on the way down. The first half climbing up was quite nice and nature-y, and the view was quite pleasant with rolling mountains in the distance. Coming back down on the path but basically cutting through the road wasnt as pleasant because although I was personally in nature, the sounds of the street ruined that experience a bit. Nonetheless, it was a good hike, took me about 1.5 hours to complete the loop.

We did the 3.6 mile loop on 11 June. There are definitely areas that are rocky, so wear proper shoes. Plenty of shade along the route. You do cross a road 4-5 times on the way down (if you go clockwise) so just be careful of cars flying down the road. Overall, great hike!

Although the lot parking is limited, you are able to park on one side of the road. Be aware that there is a $5 daily fee to park. Registering your car online at Boulder OSMP for an annual pass for $25 is a great deal.

Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking views. Showed up a little late so we couldnt complete any trails as it got dark quickly but none the less we still managed to push on even in the dark pitch black night.. Its a different vibe hiking at night!!! Ill be back on time so we can knock out all the trails

The many different levels of trails is awesome. Having MS makes hiking difficult most days, but even 5 minutes into a walk produces the most beautiful views. Definitely my new go to place.

Beautiful hike. The only difficult part is all the rocks at the beginning of the trail. You have to watch where youre walking for a good portion of it so you dont hurt your ankle. That was frustrating because I want to look at the view not the ground. Once you get past the rocky part the trail opens up to a dirt road and becomes very peaceful and beautiful, definitely recommend.

Good trail! A lot of steps. If youve ever done Mt Sanitas, it is very similar. Escalates quickly. More of an incline. Technically moderate but can feel hard for newer hikers.

Headed into Boulder to try out the Flagstaff Mountain Summit trail via Gregory Canyon. A 5.4 mile out and back with a starting elevation of 5797 and gain of 1430 and an average grade of about 15% with several areas hitting as much as 45%. Rated as moderate on the Alltrails app I would rate this more on the moderate-hard for anyone with a respiratory issue.Although the views of Boulder and the Continental Divide are amazing even on a cloudy day, the trail I felt has much to be desired. The front half has a bit of light scrambling (if you have any kind of joint problems I advise not go this way) but once you cross the first of two small creeks the path is much less rocky and easier to navigate. There are still parts with some snow and ice and although I did have my micros with me I didnt need to use them. Also, make sure to be aware of all the trail signs as to not veer off the Gregory Canyon trail which can be easy to do.If I were to experience these views again I would do the Ute and Range View Trail as an alternative.

Rocks-hopper friendly. Be prepared to put some energies if you go out of the standard trail and decide to take the shortcuts to the amphitheatre and beyond. Trails are well signaled and maintained. Hiking equipment is recommended.

I do a lovely but challenging little 3 mile-ish trail run from here. Start on the Amphitheater trail, then take the Saddle Rock trail uphill (and up and up!) to the split with EM Greenman. Take Greenman until it meets the Ranger Trail and turn downhill to the right to take Ranger. After you pass the picnic shelter youll meet up with Gregory Canyon trail. Take that down to the trailhead. Voila! There are some spectacular sunrise views if you go early.

Spectacular views, and really fun hikes, I highly recommend checking this place out. Friendly heads up though for fellow out-of-towners, if youre not use to the altitude, you will get winded and dehydrated quickly.Make sure you bring plenty of water, and decent shoes if you climb some of the steeper trails. But if nature hikes are your thing, you wont be disappointed.

I fancy myself a pretty decent hiker, really leaning into that Boulder-er than thou mentality on the trail when I seemingly zip past lowlanders out for a stroll, but... this trail kicked my butt! The backside, once you get to the mostly-level section, is a lot of fun to cruise through and enjoy what feels like some deep woods action. My wife and I went on an early Fall day and there werent a whole lot of people out which, when coupled with a short section involving a ladder - that apparently struck a chord with my inner child, who thoroughly enjoyed the mere idea of a ladder on a hiking trail - made for a wonderful hike. We went counterclockwise, so the Amphitheater trail was our descent (highly recommend doing the trail in this direction). However, I was jokingly referring to that last part as The Quad Quiver-er, cause man... my legs were shakin pretty good. At any rate, smile, pretend youre not breathing heavily, and lord your hiking superiority over the tourists, like a proper Boulderite.

Gregory Gregory....This is, essentially, a death sentence, if youre unprepared without quality shoes, and adequate water. The payoffs and scenery are lovely throughout this hike though!! You get a lovely overlook of Boulder at many different sections, then another section will be straight up mountains! It was strenuous but rewarding!

Bring cash ($5) if you plan on parking in the lot area anywhere past the sign that says pay fee lot (I saw someone get a ticket that was parked on the side after that sign..the hike is worth every penny of the $5!! I took Gregory to Ranger all the way up to West to the summit...then back down by E.M to Saddle Rock to the parking lot, was 5 Miles & approx 2400 elevation gain...again, worth every step!! Had to use spikes on a decent portion of it, especially down E.M. & Saddle, this was a tough, steep rocky hike, with beautiful views..I loved everything about it!!

Absolutely wonderful for rookies. Two hours up to Saddle. One and a half down. 1500 elevation maybe. 150 floors per Fitbit. About 6 miles all told. Trail is generally rocky but safe. Started getting altitude effects at top. View back to Boulder is great. And the other way you see snow in the central range. Couple of beautiful babbling brooks. Met many other hikers abd joggers who were all very courteous and friendly. Wonderful experience.
