Beautiful trail located next to Austin downtown. Its an hidden gem located within the Austin city to feel the nature.I have attached the seren location of the trail so that you can get the feel of the place. I has an ample parking space and has an attached dog park. You can also bring your kids to the trail and have a walk. Right now the trail is very hot and dry in summer but i feel the streams will be flowing once the rain showers fall over. Kick off your couch and hit a trail. #HappyTrailing

Gorgeous park with off leash area for dogs, trees for hammocks, the creek and creek beds to explore, a large paved trail as well as small footpaths leading to the creek and other beautiful little areas. Lots of picnic tables and a few benches. Mixed in with lots of mature trees is a conservation project of newly planted trees. Pease Park is closed for upgrade or “revitalization” but everything around it is open. Parking available on and off street.Yet another little slice of heaven in this crazy little city, which literally has endless parks, trails and creeks to explore. I ️ Austin and really hope we can all share and preserve it. I drive 15+ min to get here now since I now live as far NW as the Austin city limits go, due to gentrification. I’ve been priced out of my normal Austin neighborhoods several times over the years and pushed further and further (and further) out and away from who and what I know due to skyrocketing rent prices. However, when I’m in the parks and on the trails, I still feel like there’s hope. It’s still Austin and still my home.

It is a popular place to walk and take the dog in the middle of Austin. There is a section where the dog can be unleashed. But there is a section on 31st Street where the pathway/sidewalk disappears and you have to walk on the street.

The Shoal Creek Greenbelt is a very nice causal outdoor recreation, picnic, hiking and calm-water access activity location. There is easy parking adjacent to the park and hiking trails with scenic views of the water. With patience there is a diverse number of water fowl species that fly through and nest in and around the lake setting.

Lush urban green way. Full of trails, groomed and feral, parks and lots of healthy happy people. On the google maps it only shows up as 81 acres but it actually extends much further but becomes inaccessible due to property lines. The city did a poll recently asking what people wanted. Options were more development or keep it as is or Community input. The community spoke clearly with a majority keep it green and plant more trees. So the city is improving the banks of Shoal creek to prevent erosion and planting more trees. Excellent.I hope to see you on the trail sometime soon.

Wonderful place to walk. We went from 38th to City Lake with two young kids in strollers. Weekends can be crazy with the bikes, and dogs, and kids. I think that going down hill is better, so walk towards downtown. Rocky path near 32nd is a lot of fun.

Currently, the only pet I care for is boyfriends cat, Monkey, who is very much an indoor cat (much to Monkeys chagrin.) While dog ownership isnt for me, I certainly appreciate the inherent cuteness of a rambunctious dog exploring a new environment and getting to interact with other canines. When Im in the mood for outdoor dog- (and people-) watching, the Greenbelt is my go-to. A beautiful green oasis nestled throughout the city, the Greenbelt is the perfect place to take a brisk walk or jog while appreciating the natural beauty of this area. While the waters not always high enough for humans to swim in (although it certainly can be at some points), its more than enough for pets to splash around and cool off. Ive wiled away many a relaxing afternoon at this place, and I hope to wile away many more.

This is a really great place to get outside and see what Austin has to offer when youre not interested in going to see a show or have a drink. And its not 123 degrees outside.Theres plenty of people walking around with or without dogs, some on leashes some walking freely- exploring. Its a good place to go if you have a dog, like mine, who hasnt been socialized enough and you would like to work at that. Mine had a great time, and was very comfortable in going up to new people/dogs- and couldnt get enough of the 75 degree sunshiney day. Theres not much water left in the creek that runs along this, but theres still just a little... a good place for them to go cool off in for a moment or two.

I love to come jogging along the trail here, or to bring my dog to the off-leash area to explore and play. Its a popular spot in the neighborhood and theres a ton of rejuvenation work going on but its still a nice, quiet spot despite its proximity to Lamar. If you go along the trail all the past south past Pease park, youll get to the lake. The north side of the trail past 30th seems to be quieter.

The Shoal Creek trail runs all the way down to Town Lake. Its a really nice trail - great for walking or biking. There are a couple places closer to Town Lake where youve got to cross the creek without a bridge. So that can be difficult if its rained a lot recently.Part of the trail is leashless, so bring your furry friends.

I did a ghost hunt near the Gideon White marker on 35th and Lamar. This was the site of an Indian massacre. No one is certain how many of the victims were buried at the site. (Whites grave at nearby Oakwood Cemetery is also haunted.) There are many other unmarked graves at Shoal Creek. Many victims of cholera and yellow fever were hastily buried at the Creek. These include soldiers who camped at the creek during the Civil War, and those who served with General Custer during his Reconstruction occupation of Austin. Most of those bodies were later removed and reburied at Arlington National Cemetery, but about 35 graves were never found. Then, in April 1915, a flash flood took even more lives along the banks of Shoal Creek. They report that bones were exposed from unmarked graves. I like that its public park and open to everybody.
