Nice park with a long trail that can take you either alongside the road or into the woods by the water. A lot of times you can only go so far because of how muddy and swampy the trail gets, but that’s just kind of the nature of it. Lots of green space for a picnic or to just chill as well, with a view of the water. Lots of trash cans to ideally avoid people littering & public restrooms as well.

So glad this park on the Potomac is here and has a nice trail and accommodates a large number of people making social distancing easy. But...the mens restroom was locked for some reason. This turned the womens restroom into a unisex bathroom temporarily.

St
Review №17

Dyke marsh is a nice small nature reserve where balled eagles nest as well as ospreys and other wetland creatures. From the boardwalk at the end of the trail, there is a nice view of the marsh, the river, and across from it the national harbor. The trail is about a mile and a half long, and is frequented by bird watchers, families and runners. No bikes allowed and pets must be leashed. If you want to experience the wetland from the water, both Jon boats and kayaks can be rented at the adjacent marina.

Picnicing on the potomac. Hard to beat on a nice day

St
Review №19

This place is also home to Dyke Marsh. While most people use this park to access the paved walking/biking path, I prefer the adjacent, parallel trail that is not paved, and runs right along the Potomac. For one thing, its much less crowded. And if youre a birdwatcher, casual or serious, this place can be rewarding. On recent visits here we saw eagles, including a nest with young ones, ospreys, a barred owl, red wing blackbirds, herons, a goldfinch, and more. The trail also provides impressive views of the Alexandria waterfront and National Harbor.

Great escape from the city, but the paths are pretty muddy the closer you get to the river and they could use a new layer of gravel...and we need to slow global warming so the water levels dont keep rising.

Im only there to use the boat ramp and this is the worst ramp on the Potomac. Its leased from the Fed and never upgraded. Only thing that is nice besides some scenery is the bathroom is kept clean. If they could do some minimal dredging it would be a lot better. Right now if you launch a boat at low tide your boat will be sitting in mud.

Nice for walks, runs and or biking..plenty of trail for everyone to share and there are picnic areas in Belle Haven Park. National Park service maintains nicely. The trail runs through the park and goes from Washington D.C. to Mount Vernon, Home of George Washington; many miles if you want to challenge your fitness level either running or bicycling. There are also places to launch boats if you want to enjoy the Potomac River.

I finally stopped here for the first time, to explore Belle Haven Park. I would drive the GW Parkway, look over, mostly on weekends, and wonder what had brought the large crowds to this particular area. This weekday, I walked from the parking area down to the shoreline, where you see ducks playing in the water, views across the Potomac River, toward Maryland. Views of National Harbor, MGM Resort Casino, and views the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

Just perfectly serene. Not to crowded, like ever. Strong Fairfax police presence, typically, and they hide in the trees, which makes it great for strolls along the water. Perfect for a family picnic

Its part of a green belt; thats awesome ecologically. To visit, nothing special although the river side setting is nice. If you know trees, theres actually a pretty good variety to ID. Usually crowded year-round, but adequate parking. The best part of Belle Haven park is as a way stop along the Mt Vernon trail, which is an urban treasure for hiking, biking and running; Mt Vernon trail itself is over 20 miles and connects thru to a number of other iconic DMV pathways like C&O canal & towpath, Four Mile and everything in between: Roslyn, Alexandria, Georgetown, Dyke Marsh, Mt. Vernon and more.

The park with a view and hidden treasures. The view of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge from Virginia to Maryland will lead your eye to the modern architecture that the National Harbor has to offer. This magnificent view distracts from the hidden treasures: the chestnut tree and the Marina’s social club to which passerby-ers are welcome for food, drink and conversation. The chestnuts trees are indigenous and in low numbers due to blight. These blight resistant Chestnut trees need your help collecting nuts and replanting elsewhere. They fall off the tree in the September/October. The club meets in the Marinas weekend afternoons and can be found by following the many happy faces graffitied about the marina. This park holds many more adventures, visit to discover more.
