Small put nice zooEasy to get around. Staff helpful and friendly. I did not see anything for handicap people as far as electric vehicles for rental. New displays being built. No bears or tigers currently available to see. You can get up close to the Giraffes and feed them.

Very nice and clean park. It also have 2 dog parks for either large and small dogs. Water park for the kids. Close proximity to the Abilene zoo and a softball field.. fishing is a popular pastime.

Great park. Very clean. The trails arent normally busy like the rest of the park. The big lap is 1.5 miles. Theres many things to do here. Great place.

Big park with a (man made) lake. Nice area with play structures and swings, one for bigger kids and other for toddlers. Lots of grass and trees, but not many tables from what I could tell. Theres a mixed group of ducks that hang out at the lake, VERY people friendly as they are accustomed to being fed.

This is such a lovely park close to two dog parks (one for big dogs and one for small dogs) and the Zoo. It has a playground and splash place. Evening walks or bike rides here can be lovely. Gorgeous sunsets. There are also plenty of places for fishing. One of my favorite places in Abilene. Great for families.

Beautiful park with lots of open space and available parking nearby. Facilities were clean and well cared for.

I love the setting of this park, beside a lake and across from the Zoo. There is a lovely path around the park with trees shading some of it. Camp Barkley is a dog park there which is well maintained.

Just went to the dog park, but it was great. There is an area for small dogs and one for large dogs, both with lots of room to romp and play with their friends. Oh, and Bruce says he really enjoyed it and is ready to go back!

I went to 5 other parks trying to find one with toddler swings . This park is very clean and has the proper swings lol

It was nice. Had a lot of cool animals and exhibits. Great place for the whole family. I miss some of the stuff that was there when i was younger like the buffalo, the different types of bears, the hyenas

We saw the fireworks show, it was outstanding. The park is beautiful and very seren. People were relaxed and enjoying themselves. I enjoyed myself as well.

It was so fun we got delicious food, snacks, and fresh squeezed lemonade, the best part it across from the fair and splash pad so no hot days at the Zoo

A great little zoo! Just be sure to visit in the summer when all the animals are out. We went in February and although a great time, we didnt get to see them all. Well be back when the weather is warmer! Feeding the giraffes is a great experience. $5 for 5 pieces of lettuce. And other opportunities to donate to the care of the animals. They are also building a new exhibit, with the animals of Madagascar. Kids (and adults) will love the reptile house!

Great park, clean with restroom facilities and tables. Trail by the lake and you can hear the animals from the zoo.

Wonderful place. Its non expensive and you are able to get close to the animals and experience it up close without having to pay big city price. They have a huge variety of animals. My four year old was able to walk all around just had to keep water in had since it was 100 degrees outside. We also brought enough sunscreen and quarters to feed the fish. The train was fun we did that last so my daughter could catch her breath she LOVED every part of it. We also did the swan paddle boat it was okay for $12 we didnt last the 30 minutes my daughter was freaking out. Maybe when she is older she might enjoy it more.

Great dog park, clean, great location

Grover Nelson Park is located right next to the Abilene zoo which happens to the best location, especially when you have kids who are not ready to leave, you have something to bribe them with. Hey kiddos,if you come on we can stop by the Park before going home. It works like a charm getting them through the gift shop and out of the zoo without crying. And the Park is awesome with the fort playground and the ducks.

While on a recent weekend getaway, we enjoyed a delightful Sunday morning at the Abilene Zoo in Grover Nelson Park. We plan to return Grover Nelson Park with our grandchildren to enjoy more of the park.

Beautiful park! Great to bring your kids or pets. Plenty of benches and playgrounds for every age. Two different dog park areas. There is also fields to play sports and in the summer a free water play area. A nice trail to walk, jog, or take a stroller with plenty of different trees to sit under. Plenty of water fowl to see and feed. The sound of the water fountains helps create a soothing atmosphere. Watch for info when to bring your fishing poles. Just a lot of fun for every one.

This park has a splash pad and a great park for the kids to play in. We only come to this splash pad once a year and its on 4th of july

We have so many memories here. My girls and i love going back. So nice to just go there and relax! We dont live in Abilene anymore but when we do go back we always go to the park . Beautiful place!!

Very beautiful and perfect to take the family out.

Kind of small. No elephants, The San Antonio Zone was better. And the Goose ride is down. The Front desk staff were very nice but the ones in the park seem like they didnt want to be there. Lots of other cool stuff there too. Lions,bear and several other animal all hid in there caves due to the heat. Overall i think the habitats need more shade for the animal to hang out outside. The poor giraffes had no shade at all.

Alot of the zoo did not open so it was a waste of money

Nice park, water, splash pad, some of the citys action is in the area, airport is close for plane spotting... dog park is close, its a good park now that Im taking 2 seconds to think about it.

We loved it here and had a fabulous time. Went during school hours and had the place to ourselves.

I had never been to a zoo before. My man took me, the day after my 22nd birthday & it was so incredible. I was walking around everywhere, in amazement like a child. I had the best time being there. I cant wait to go back soon.

Love feeding the ducks here!!! Kids have great playgrounds to play on. Splash pad is back up and running. Love hearing the sounds from the zoo!! Can watch a ball game too. Beautiful park!!

Stink at bird section. Very small zoo. It was the smallest zoo I ever been. Many section were closed when we visited. But it is a good place for kids to go in Abilene.

I highly recommend stopping in here if youre passing through. There are great walking trails, nice little lake that I see people fishing in a lot, and huge dog parks that are well kept. Ive been walking my dog on the trails every day for the last week and a half and I am continually impressed with the maintenance people taking care of the park. Its really nice, and kept clean! Multiple baseball parks, multiple playground areas.

Lots of options for different activities- splash pad, several playground structures, ball parks, and a mile long track. There was plenty of shade and benches for resting.

Love it!! Peddalboats, feeding giraffes, feeding the fish, or watching the monkeys its just fun. Husband and I went to the zoo on a date and had a blast. Clean and friendly people.

They have a spacious big and little dog park and a nice playground for the littles with a big pond that normal has ducks and even a beaver

I went here a few years ago and there were more mammals like a tiger and an elephant now there are more birds than anything also the drinks are expensive like 3 dollars for a bottled soda jeez and also many macaws and squirrels were in the exhibits plus the lion is alone give him a friend.

Christmas fun at the Abilene Zoo! Fire pits, smores, hot chocolate, story time, Polar Express train ride and of course, Santa.

Visited with the school for a class field trip. The employees were great with the kiddos and helpful when needed. The animals were fun to check out and there is a great selection! I think we missed a few, so we will definitely be making a trip back soon to seem them all!

Small zoo but well worth the visit. Great giraffe exhibit. The train ride around the zoo is great for kids. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Loved it but alittle small

I love walking the lake here, the park has an amazing layout and tons of different things to do. You will always find people fishing or out playing either on the playground or the softball fields. A great place to go and relax by yourself or to take the whole family.

So. Much. Fun!!!!! It was amazingly fun! So many animals. By the way when you go to the camels, their names are Sahara and Dakota. If you call them by their names when they are not eating they will come and talk to you! (Not literal!) The rhinos name is Macho. Hes pretty cool. When you go to feed the fish, they will go wild and fight. (Not really fight but like they will flop on eachother and go wild!) Its a truly amazing zoo.

The playground is great for kiddos of various ages: lots of ramps provide easy access for younger ones. A nice walking loop, and the pond is available to fish in, or to feed the ducks.

Decent size zoo. My daughter loved it and had a blast.

This place was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful! My husband and I really enjoyed our time here.

Surprisingly nice zoo. Not huge, but we spent about 2hrs strolling through the park. About 3/4 of the animals were actually out.
