This was our first time in Abilene! We decided to visit the zoo and it was the best idea ever. It was about 100 degrees on Aug 16 but this zoo was not very big. There were plenty of shaded areas. We finished the entire visit within an hour. The staff was friendly. And not a lot of people. There were 2 kids and 3 adults and I paid $35 to enter. Giraffe feeding experience was $5 each if you only go to feed the giraffes it’s worth it. The gift shop had a huge selection of T-shirts, backpacks, stuffed animals and plenty more. The Lions and Monkeys stayed in their confinements but I don’t blame em’ it was HOT! Overall we had a wonderful experience oh and we were able to bring in our own water bottles and snacks!P.S. A few attractions was close due to COVID.

Abilene Zoo was incredible. It was a fun day activity, perfect for the whole family. We enjoyed seeing sleepy lions, muddy rhinos, pink flamingos, spider monkeys and much more! The zoo is very well kept, and all the people we encountered as visitors, were very respectful of the 6ft distance rule. They have a carousel, a miniature train that takes you through the animal exhibits and you can even feed the giraffes (although that was closed down when we went, probably to protect the animals from possibly getting Covid). Altogether we had a great time !! Cant wait to return soon.

Loved it. Small zoo with a little of all. It was super hot, but there are many shaded areas and benches to rest. Feeding the giraffe was amazing. Incredible to see them so up close. Price great and maintained.

Small zoo. Well laid out. Friendly staff. Easy to get around. Did not see any electrical vehicles for handicapped visitors to rent.

It was just right. Not too long, not to short. We rented the wagon because well, kids just whine and it easier to have a spot to sit if needed. We went first thing before it was got out and when we left about an hour later there was a line to get in. We actually came back later with our swim trunks so the kids could play in the splash pad next door at the local park. Pretty convenient after walking in the hot day, run next door and cool off.

This place is always a winner! My kids had an amazing time and its clean and well cared for. Feeding the giraffes is such an awesome experience, its definitely worth 5 stars!

The Abilene zoo is a great place to go and check out some of the coolest species of animals in the world. You can also feed the giraffes which is a great experience. There is lots of species of birds at the zoo.

I must say that for the size of the zoo it did have a variety of animals. I feel the cages could be a lot cleaner, the water holes were gross. I loved being able to feed the giraffes that was super cool.I guess I just shouldn’t go to small zoos because I feel so sad for the animals. I always feel they could be better cared for.Looking at it from a child’s point of view it’s a pretty cool place to go.

Took our 3 youngest grandkids they were delighted with all the animals, especially the lion. I was not impressed with their Nachos so I would not spend my $ in that snack area.

Quaint and cute. Great location by a lake with walking trail, playground and splash pad. Cant wait for the entire zoo to re-open so we can enjoy the swan boat rides, train and feed the fish off the dock.

Always a great place to be outside with plenty of interactive materials for kids! It has a train tour, giraffe feeding, and lots of other things to do!

A smallish zoo. Good for the kids. I wouldn’t personally go back there but I would recommend it to families as a nice alternative to a movie, etc.

Our family really enjoys walking through this Zoo. It is well kept and it seems they are always making improvements.

Drove to abilene ,because we usually like going to the zoo although its been a while,and my parents wanted to surprise my twin brothers for their birthday .. get there,and pay for 8 of us thinking everything was good ,but they didnt say a word about most of it being closed! Hardly much to do when the best things are off limits !! So disappointed that they didnt say that when my mom called before we left or even at the window!!

This is the best small Zoo you will ever go to, I have been visiting this Zoo since I was a toddler and the wonder has never worn off for me! 10/10 a must see through Abilene!

Awesome time with the kids. We did go on a colder day so many animals were off exhibit however what we could see was great. We usually make the trip 2-3 time a year to see whats new and changing. The gift shop is way overpriced. I stray away from visiting the gift shop because I dont want to pay $19.99+ for a 4 inch bear.

A small Zoo in comparison to zoos I have visited. Nice for small children as their little legs dont want to walk so far. The train ride is nice but you pay extra for this and you pay extra for the Carousel, which adults cant ride anything but the bench. The child is free so, why am I paying to ride the bench, the child is freeIts so hot most animals were in their shelter zoo keepers were nice and well informed. 3 stars for the carousel and the small enclosures for the animals.

Great zoo with a friendly staff! The layout of the park and placement of the animal enclosures allows for ease of access with minimal waiting.

The zoo is normally a really neat place to go especially for people who have never been. Compared to other zoos it doesnt come close to being as jam packed, but for abilene it is quite the experience. The complaint I have is that the last time we went there was no warning about certain areas being closed of due to covid and there was also no warning stating certain attractions are only available at certain times. This eliminated a huge portion of interesting highlights in the park.

Oh my goodness. What can I say? I love it here. I used to go to zoo camp, and the way they treat their animals is incredible. Anytime I go back there they seem to improve. I cant tell you how many good memories I have made here. I hope others can experience the same.

While it was small it was definitely fun. my kids loved it and even the adults had fun. it was very inexpensive until we went to the store in there. Spent a bunch but had a blast.

Very clean, have sanitizer almost every 30ft. Easy to read signs, activities for kids, tons of animals, and it gets bigger and better every time I visit Abilene!

Amazing Zoo for a small city. Easy to walk the whole thing in a couple of hours, even with several children. Stroller friendly. The BEST part though was the giraffe feeding. For $4 you can purchase 3 pieces of lettuce that you can hand feed the giraffes. Petting them is not allowed, but regardless the experience was amazing.

Its a small zoo but they have a lot of cool animals to look at. They have an area where you can feed their giraffes! I liked a lot of their zoo exhibits and overall had a great time with my family there!

Great zoo that offers a wide variety of animals to view. They have a new animal carousel, a running train that takes you through out the park and lots of exhibition. Animal Attendants are always friendly and very knowledgeable.

This place is horrible. The animals have very little space. Their nocturnal section is just depressing. The animals are in clear distress pacing from one side to the other. They look like theyve gone mad. The giraffes were just as depressing to observe. The space given is RIDICULOUSLY small. One giraffe kept running to and from each fence ramming its head into it.The bigger (slower animals) just walked from one side of the enclosure to the other. There was a dead animal in one of the confinements...Yeah youll see wild animals... but youre literally supporting such a horrible environment for them.

The landscape has really matured and is looking lovely. There was a good range of animals, lots of staff to explain and enhance your visit.

It was nice, I just wish they had a couple of longhorns for people to marvel over how long the horns are...

Very enjoyable! Loved the part where you can feed the giraffes but cost extra $. There were a few enclosures that had no animals, don’t know where they were at during the time I visited. Would definitely visit again!

We really enjoyed getting out of the house and visiting the animals at the zoo. Some paths are one way to ensure social distancing.

Had a great time here. cheap, fun, not a huge place so its a quick walk through were the kids didnt get bored. Took about an hour and a half, feed the giraffes, totally worth it.

What a great experience! I grew up in Abilene and visited the zoo regularly as a child but only recently returned for a visit after many years away. We were so impressed with the exhibits, animals, atmosphere and staff! Such a fun experience for our children (ages 5 to 14) - and us! We expected to stay an hour or two but ended up staying almost 4 hours! Such a good time!

What a great way to spend an evening after the work day. We rode the train around the park first and then walked it. They are open late on Thursdays. Unfortunately, we had to cut our evening short when storms rolled in.

Great set up, only an hour walk around it...easier for my knees to tolerate. Grandkids love it....especially feeding the fish,turtles,and giraffes!!! Train ride and carousel!

I grew up here and love this zoo been going for years but today me and my family went and I am concerned and upset for the animals because yall added electric shock on the inside of the cages even in the outers cage 2 foot off the ground and it must have been on high voltage because standing in front of it you could hear the buzzing. There have never been any electric shocking at this zoo in my whole life of visiting and I know yall have been having trouble with them escaping but thats not okay, there are other ways to keep them safe and inside. I didnt like the fact that inside and outside the exhibits the grass has not been cut or maintained in a while. Some of the animals such as the birds couldnt even walk in it. I also find it strange that yalls animals keep dyeing and where is the bear? I havent seen any news about him and his cage is home to a different animal. I am most of all upset because the last time I was there the lion was fat and healthy looking and now he looked like he was half dead and super skinny. I dont know whats going on but I wont go to a zoo if the animals are not being taken care of or treated right, period! Very disappointed!!

Very nice zoo you can feed the giraffes ride a train or swam boats and have a small merry go round. There is a new ant eater there now as well.

This small, regional zoo was excellent! There was a nice variety of animals all within a nice walking distance. At $8/ person you cant beat the price. Also, if youre not from Abilene you can get a buy one get one coupon for admission.This zoo does lack some of the amenities of larger zoos such as family bathrooms (at least I couldnt find one), a variety of food vendors, etc.If you are looking for a fun afternoon this zoo is perfect!

We had a great time. Since we visited last time the enclosure for the giraffes is new and much improved and it was great to get up close to these beautiful endangered animals. That alone was worth the trip but it is a very nice zoo with lots of other animals. Take a roll of quarters in with you.

This place was awesome everyone very welcoming and happy to invite us to everything available, I just bought the family membership and it was very worth it! Hope next time the other parts of the Zoo are open so we can see everything!

I love this little zoo and have gone many times. It is little and I am surprised they charge so much for such a small zoo, but it is a good one. Especially the giraffe outlook! They have so many giraffes and if you want you can feed them, it is just really cool to be so up close to them! There are a lot of bird exhibits, but they still have quite a bit of other animals! The food is over priced like most zoos, but it is good food.

I have been a few times when I was much younger, so my great niece and I went. Being winter several dens and such were empty, but we got to feed the Giraffes and I have never been that close to them before! Amazing experience for us!! It seemed several critters were very old, some looked sad. Maybe just me...Loved riding the train, lady was very informative! The snake handler was very professional and frog lady was also! Thanks for an overall good time!

This Zoo is the best thing about Abliene!! During the summer months it is hot and you cant see a lot of animals its worth it just to go and feed giraffes and fishes!! The carousel is not working today.

This is one of Abilenes gems. The price is super affordable (I think it is $7 for adults at this time). Our 4 year old wants to go back at least once a month. It is very clean. There are some extras like swan paddle boats, rock mine, feed the giraffes, a carusel, a mini train ride. All of these have an additional cost to the admission but still not outrageous. The snack bar is also adorable. Over all it is a great experience, the people who work there are super nice. If you take advantage of all the activities you can burn up to half the day there. Not bad if you need to entertain young minds. You can even pack a picnic and enjoy the awesome playground or splash pad ( bring a towel) they have in the same park (Not in the zoo) as the zoo.

We went here today and loved it! I was expecting a really small zoo for how inexpensively you can get in buy couldnt believe how much they actually have here. Feeding the giraffes was definitely a highlight.
