I would give this 5 but the bathrooms need to be cleaned more than once a day. Especially during covid. And no vent in bathrooms. Also, trash piled up so you couldnt put in dumpster. Of course, the park is stunning.

My trip was from Nov 11th to Nov 13th. I was unable to book 2 nights at Jumbo Rocks Campground so I split my visit with Indian Cove. Since it was Veterans Day admission into Joshua Tree was free. Normally youd have to pay to get into the park on top of what you paid for the campsite. Please take note of that before complaining that they tacked on money to the price. There was no reception at the campsite I stayed at (98). The site had a fire ring with grilling grate attached, a sturdy concrete picnic table that could seat 8 people, and a separate grilling area. There were minimal rocks and it was pretty flat. Bathrooms were vault style with plenty of TP. No lighting during the night so bring a lamp. No sink to wash your hands so wipes is recommended. There were a few trails within the campground and plenty of places to walk around to take in the view. I camped with my pup and he loved it. I highly recommend you visit and be prepared for cold desert temps. Dog friendly and dont be alarmed by the desert mice at night. Dont leave food out for them and close your tent zippers to prevent them from going into your tent.

Our favorite campground to go to whether it’s just for a day trip or overnight camping! Sunrise and sunset are beautiful from the top of any rock here.

Very unique campground settled among big rocks n small bushes. There is no running water here anywhere in the park. One star is because of the rats in the area. At nighttime, rats come out from hiding and run around, climb on picnic benches. So, its really hard to keep food outside the car or even cook any food. You have to constantly watch out for rats.

Actually I did not like it. Too popular and too many kids running around with flashlights shining them on the rocks all night - because there are beautiful rocks everywhere. Im not against children, but parents apparently no longer teach proper flashlight courtesy. As in, dont shine them in other peoples campsites and stare, dont wake people up by shining a light on their tents, etc. I dont go camping to be around so many people who are so obviously new to camping. Nothing untoward however. You will probably like it if you want to let your brats run free, and it and the whole park really are 5 worthy in every other sense.

Beautiful campground with lots to explore. An older couple, who apparently live there, approached us on Halloween at 1am for the first time. We were talking by the fire and playing music on the lowest setting. They told us that we were violating quiet hours, which we were not aware of, and that they had been waiting since 10pm to tell us. The lady threatened to call law enforcement without hearing a word from us. The man told us that he would wait for us to turn off the speaker in front of him.I don’t know if these people are officially associated with the campground but they should not be allowed to harass and threaten other campers. We were spoken to like high schoolers breaking the law. It ruined our night.

Spacious and very clean campground. Grill, fire ring with grill, and picnic table at all campsites. Bathroom was clean with pit toilet.Make sure you find a campsite that will be shaded when the sun is rising, or your tent will get very hot and very fast. Visited the campsite in mid September 2018 and it was almost empty. So many beautiful campsites with the best views you could hope for. It seems like during high season the sites could be a little crowded but I’m sure that would be fine because the campers here are so very friendly. You can just hike out from your site into the beautiful Joshua tree wilderness. The nights here are absolutely stunning if you can bring a star camera.

This is a good place to view the stars and actually see the Milky Way. Lots of camp spots that were completely booked this holiday weekend. Unfortunately, due to the crowds, lots of people noise and lots lights. The best place to see the stars is on the East end of the park that is very, very dark. Lots of photographers doing night shots of stars and, because of the new moon, the Milky Way. You can see barely see the moon in the attached pictures that I took with my phone.

Wonderful campground. Joshua tree NP has no running water or showers available, no general store. Pack accordingly! Bring lots of water. Outhouses are cleaned daily. Dumpster in campground. Only animal you have to worry about is the squirrels getting in to trash.Sites are small as they are nestled in between the giant rocks. Bring a canopy there are no trees. In this campground there is so much to explore by walking out into the rocks and climbing. Me and my three year old climbed for hours!

Once youve gone on the camp hikes you can spend the rest of the day exploring your own back yard and be back in time for dinner! The camp sites range in sizes but all have a wonderful fire pit and charcoal stove we brought a gass one for convenience and clean up! Well be staying again soon!

We travelled to Joshua tree in July 2016. The daytime was hot , so we arrived in the late afternoon und left in the morning. Stay under the stars (25 ft. RV), absolutely quiet, the view unbelievable, coyotes howling at night, the place is magic. There is lots of space to the next camp/RV site. Bathrooms very simple (and a bit to walk).

Better than expected. We made reservations online a while back - had to pick 3 different sites for the planned 7 day visit. All the sites were good - altho more spread out would have been better. Such a beautiful campsite and although I went during Thanksgiving when it rained and snowed quite a bit, it was still an amazing spot. Instead of visiting the regular SoCal tourism spots, for the peace and tranquility...its Joshua Tree. Weekends were made for getaways outside of all the LA hubbub. Youve never seen a brighter moon and starrier nights in SoCal like you would at Joshua Tree. Dont feed the rabbits. But theyre sooo cute ...if ya gotta carrot...youre gonna have to give up one or two. Ya didnt hear from me though. Remember, your internet isnt gonna work here. So rough it out and feel the burn of destressing from Social Media for a few days. Youll thank me later. Bring plenty of wood. There are grills and clean restrooms.

Nice spot, relatively central in the park/campgrounds. Every site has a fire pit, picnic table and grill. Im not sure how all of the other sites are, but this one did get a little rowdy with neighbors drinking, etc. they settled down during quiet hours. Theres no water at the site, but you can bring and fill up containers at the entrance to the park. It was very full on the weekend, so go as early as possible and ask around for people leaving that day.

This place is a great place to camp. The sunset from this campground was the most vibrant and most beautiful sunset I have ever seen in my life. The camp site we had was awesome. It was a little tucked away and had a path through some jumbo rocks to a perfect landing to watch the sunset. What checked out quite a few sites before we picked ours. There are plenty with little semi private nooks and shrubbery to give some separation between sites. Some sites, however, are completely exposed. I would go back.

Sites are first-come-first-serve so get there as early as you can, this is a fantastic campground with awesome NPS (our neighbors decided to stay up to the wee hours playing loud music, drinking, trashing their campsite and eventually performing their own impromptu rap battles which btw is fine- you are young, you like to party, you do you boo- but in the AM they woke up to 3 NPS and a couple rangers who calmly but firmly required all involved to clean up their camp site while NPS watched. Thank you National Park Service!) And absolutely stunning sunsets. Bring plenty of water and bask in the beauty of Joshua Tree!
