Beautiful vineyard, great wines, and good service! This was our third winery visit last Friday, and we were pleasantly surprised by the red wines here. The previous wineries had red wines that we didn’t really like, as they lacked body and taste. Upon tasting Mari’s reds, we enjoyed them so much that we joined their wine club. The Proserpina was our favorite, and we enjoyed every wine we tasted (7). They have some with unique flavors IMO. Gabe was an excellent server and Alex P. helped him and filled in when Gabe was busy. They made a great team, both very knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. Gabe also made sure the patio heater fuel was replaced, and got the heater going on high for us. It was a brisk day, and we were thankful for the sunshine and the patio heater. Mari’s building is gorgeous, and we can’t wait to return at a time when we can do the full tour of the winery and caverns. Thank you to Gabe and Alex P. for a wonderful visit! (Music would be a great addition to the patio-if it was on, we couldn’t hear it)

My friends and I randomly visited this winery on a busy labor day weekend! If you want a table, please make a reservation in advance. We didnt have one, fortunately there was a no show group and we ended up having a 1hr table and enjoyed spectacular views of the lake, the vineyards and a beautiful vibrant crowd. I really liked the Praefectus/Bordeaux style. That right there was a tasty grape, dark red and smooth! I was actually surprised. I highly recommend this place. Our host was great! They were all so nice and informative. Ill be back soon Mari. This time with a reservation so I can actually try more. Thanks for having us.

Visited in September on a gorgeous fall day. Outstanding venue and wonderful wines. The Italian old world stone architecture was our last stop on a day of touring wineries on the peninsula. It turns out we saved the best for last! The wait was short since the venue was full and we had reserved ahead of time. Our server was great and patient as we unwound from driving up and down the peninsula. The views from the patio were stunning. This was the only winery we visited that had taken care to ensure the viewshed was unhindered down the hills to the bay. The wine selection was excellent. We hope to go back post-pandemic to tour the cellars!

Love the old world architecture and the great wines at Mari Vineyards. This was my last stop on a day of touring wineries on the peninsula and most of the day had been less than great. But this was a gem in the bunch. There were many great wine options. Even on a slow day with less than delightful weather, this place was still full and we heard that reservations Griday through Sunday were already filled. Be sure to plan well in advance to see this place.

Beautiful location!Mari Vineyards was the last stop for us on our day of winery visits. When we arrived they asked us if we had made a reservation and we told them no. We are from out of town and did not realize a reservation was required. They told us they were booked for the night, but we were able to get a glass of wine and drink it on the lawn if we wanted. Luckily we had a blanket in our car that we put out on the lawn. Because of COVID people were only allowed inside to use the bathroom or buy bottles of wine. There were tables set up on their patio, but those were reservation only.We each had to stand in line for a good 15 minutes at least to get a glass of wine. They were fairly busy and had only one person taking orders and giving the wine to guests. The wine was fairly pricey for a glass. We enjoyed the view while drinking our wine. It got very hot while we were out on the lawn so we ended up leaving after one glass. Its worth checking out for the views and location, but we didnt end up buying any bottles of wine from here.

Wonderful service but called our next winery to say we were over-served. This was our second winery, even IF we were over-served it was from this winery. They claim someone also fell. The only time anyone “fell” was when we were taking a picture and someone could stand back up. She was sober and pregnant. This winery put a complete damper on our wonderful bachelorette weekend. We will not be back. We are also returning the $600 of wine we purchased.

Terrible service. You have to have a reservation and they will only allow you to stay for 1 hour no matter what. The wines were not that great and very overpriced for the quality. The cheese platter is an overpaid joke. The only thing we enjoyed about this winery is the view which is breath taking. When your hour is up they will ask you to leave even if there are empty tables...as it was in our case. ( there were more empty tables as there were people there)We will not be returning! First off... the scenery is INCREDIBLE. One of our favorite views on the peninsula. We popped in on a whim, and absolutely fell in LOVE with the place. Even with COVID, and the social distancing... the staff was wonderfully friendly. They found a nice little table for us outside, attended to us quickly, and we never felt rushed, or ignored. Bought a couple bottles we enjoyed from what we sampled, and even a TShirt for the Fiancee. We will definitely be returning. VERY well done!!!

The winery has beautiful views but unfortunately once I arrived home the next day I noticed I was triple charged. I have had the issue sorted out with my bank but coupled with less than stellar service I would not recommend this winery. There are plenty of others to choose from with just as breathtaking views, that don’t have the added stress of having to watch my account be charged correctly for a single glass of wine.

Disappointed in the poor service at this really nice winery. We took our bachelorette party here as part of a winery tour. We had paid for a private terrace reservation. We all got up to the top terrace and the waiter, I think Kyle?, stared taking orders. All of our girls ordered glasses of wine and he got to our last friend and she started asking questions about the menu and the types of wines offered. He lets her look at a menu and tells her about some specials. He the comes back to take her order. She orders and then he says sorry I cannot serve you. She asks why and he says I just have a gut feeling I shouldnt be serving you after I saw your walk up the stairs. She was completely coherent, not causing a scene and walking up the stairs in heels and trying to help a friend out with putting on her required mask. She does not cause a scene but simply asks why and he says instinct? We werent even driving as we were part of a Brew Bus. We asked to speak to the manager and he didnt have a good answer either as to why they could not serve her. There were plenty more drunk people in our party and at the winery, so Im not sure if he was basing it off the way she looked, talked, there was no good explanation. I understand when servers cannot serve patrons, but this one was uncalled for and unjustified. Needless to say, the entire party has decided to never return to give them business.

Beautiful view, but need reservations to sit on the patio, despite some tables being unoccupied. I know they are trying to stick with Social Distancing measures so if you dont have a reservation, you have to stand by a flag out on the lawn, but there are no lawn chairs like most of the vineyards on the peninsula. Highly recommend bringing a thick lawn blanket if that is your intention, because the landscaping is pretty weedy. Also, I tried to order wines for friends, which I thought was pretty simple but lady taking order had one wine wrong and took awhile to process payment.

I was very excited to visit all the wineries in such a beautiful amazing area and this was by far the worst one. The manager Anthony and employees have absolutely zero social skills and are so rude. We were a group of professional 30 year olds that were starting a classy fun easy going evening when they profiled one of the ladies in our group and refused to serve her. When asked why, he said “it was a gut feeling not to serve her.” Might I remind you this was the first winery we went to So when we start with being judged and profiled for no given reason, It put some sadness into the rest of the evening.

It was only right we stopped and support this site. The winery itself was beautiful all around, great views and friendly staff. We would have love to stay and drink more but to to travels that day we only tried a 4 flight. The wines in the area are more on the dryer side as the region mimicked the old area, soil type and temperatures of old world Italy and their wine making techniques. Our favorite of the day was the late harvest white.Fruity, crisp, slightly sweet and very fruity!I do wish they had the kitchen open to enjoy some charcuterie but due to covid they are doing the best they can for the times. All covid stands we’re upheld and patrons were very mindful of distance and grouping.Spot on!

This past weekend I was at this winery with my friends from college celebrating a bachelorette party. From the time we got there to the time we left, the experience was anything was pleasant. We had the top Terrance rented out, and when we all arrived we gave our orders. One of the girls in the group was denied service because the server just had a “gut feeling” that she shouldn’t be served. When we were all very confused and upset about this, we were then told it was last call. We had been there for all of 10 minutes, and it definitely wasn’t last call. When we confronted management we were not given any good answers and they were talking in circles. We were extremely disappointed in the experience.

Very disappointed. We had visited Leelanau peninsula the day before. Were not planning on visiting any wineries on Old Mission. I often choose Old Mission, all my favorite wineries are here. Mari was high on my list. We had been there earlier in the summer and I was willing to try again. We had been camping the night before. I had been telling my brother and his wife about how much I loved Mari Vineyards. The location the wine etc. He. And his wife are returning to Michigan after after retiring from the Navy. We took a drive and stopped in . In expressing our dissatisfaction, the staff just smiled judgemental ly and didnt care. No explanation, no options etc. After the poor client care, it reminded me of our visit earlier in the summer. 2 strikes do not make a third . I have not ever written a poor review. So this hopefully speaks to how we felt ....

Very poor experience. Great potential, but fell short in many areas.--Wife and I went wine tasting with another couple. We visited ten vineyards total during our weekend stay in the area. We are amateur wine tasters in every sense.THE GOOD:Beautiful architecture. Stunning outdoor views with both vineyards and water. Very cool wine cellar built into the hill that you can see as you drive in. Nice, large patio area. Clean bathroom.THE BAD:When we initially showed up, thirty minutes until close, we were told that we could have a glass of wine and sit in the grass or we could leave. As you can imagine, we left and tried again the next day.Staff seemed unprofessional and failed to be courteous (with the exception of Topher, he was the best thing about our experience). No trash can in the bathroom. Wine was very overpriced. The sun was HOT and there was no umbrella available for our table. The white wine was served lukewarm.Reservation process was confusing and the staff member who talked us through it made us feel like a burden that we were there.

Beautiful views and architecture, unprofessional staff and poor service. We arrived 42 minutes before closing. MULTIPLE tables were open and we were told we had to sit on the lawn. We kindly asked if we could order our own wines so a server wouldn’t have to worry about us and use the table. The hostess gave us a hard time but eventually said to go sit. We were then taking photos in front of the vineyard, and one of the staff yelled at us in front of everyone who was visiting to stay out (about 40-50 people). We were at least four feet from where the vineyard starts and could read the sign. The wine was subpar. We would’ve returned for the atmosphere, but the staff were the biggest disappointment, and we are always very understanding customers, especially with the current environment.

Mari vineyards is absolutely beautiful! The view along with the wine is a must go on the list of vineyards that Traverse City has to offer! The wine in my opinion is the best of all the vineyards we visited. After we finished our tours of vineyards (a total of 6) we returned to Mari and bought several bottles. Before visiting Mari I would only drink very sweet white wines, Rene, our wine educator taught me so much about whites and reds and talked me into trying their dry red. I was so reluctant as I have always hated the taste. After trying Mari dry red wines I have fully converted to drinking dry reds and rarely drink sweet whites now. Rene was so informative and spent time with us educating us on all aspects of wine (and so much more... Thank you Rene)! Mari will be a yearly tradition to visit in the fall from here on out!

Such a beautiful location, but quite honestly, the worst service Ive recieved at any establishment. My friend, who had yet to start drinking that evening, was told by the waiter that he was not going to serve her without further explanation. Upon asking the extremely rude waiter why he made this decision, he discourteously told me that he heard her slurring. He proceeds to tell our Brew Bus driver that one girl wasnt allowed to be served, and because of this, our whole group wasnt able to continue our tour. Our night was substantially dampened because one waiter discriminated and had poor judgement about our friend and then treated our entire group like the scum of the world. On top of that, the next day we discovered that half our group was double charged! This winery desperately needs a management and staff makeover stat! Avoid at all cost.

My husband and I just left Mari vineyards. By far the worse experience at a winery atmosphere from the time we were “greeted” to the time we left. View is beautiful and wine is good but service and management requires correction. Adult management is needed. We were told to go sit on a hill within chalk squares ina very negative tone. We understand social distancing and had our mask. Nature and tone used was unprofessional and unwelcoming. We had been to other wineries in the area and they were much more relaxing while practicing social distancing. 3 groups of people clearly had been over served. One group was sitting on a van at edge of parking lot and yelling. A bridal group was on a hill and one girl could hardly walk but was served. A large group of young men and women were again screaming at each other but were served at last call. We were told we had less than 10 mins to get a glass of wine even though the closing time was in 45 mins . Young hostess told us not to sit under shade tree because that was not on her property. We asked to use bathroom at end and they said they were closed. We did order wine. Okay but not enjoyable given atmosphere mentioned above and too close to road noise. Will mark this off the list of wineries to visit or refer to any of our friends.
