Our party of four visited on a bright sunny day in September. The venue is excellent: large rolling hills and you drive up right through the vineyards which are immaculately tended. We sat in the sun on the patio soaking in the excellent views of the neat rows of grapes and the woods below. We sampled the flight of 5 - it was easy to mix and match our own tastes. The presentation of the flight of wine glasses was a unique spiral iron display holder and the names of our wines labelled clearly. Other wineries should take note! The wines were very good, though I admit it was the setting and gorgeous day that had us giddy. This venue also sports a massive lavender garden and shop at the base of the property. It is definitely worth a visit after sampling your wine. Take your car as it is a long walk without a sidewalk along a curvy road. The lavender beds and flowers were in delightful display, orderly, organized, with charming labels and information on the varieties and provenance of each plant. We took some engagement photos here against the spectacular Russian sage plants in front of the garden shop. I would have given this a 4.5 stars, but went with 4 as the Mari vineyard was a 5 and this was just a tad below that for the views and wine.

We visited on a superb day in October. It was warm enough to sit in the sun on the patio enjoying the breathtaking view and the delightful wine. We both ordered the flight of 5, choosing our own combination of wines to sample. The glasses were served in an iron display piece with the names of our chosen wines at the base. Easy to remember our favorites! Although we removed our masks for drinking and photos, the staff kept theirs on. There was delightfully scented hand sanitizer at the entrance and on each table. The tables were distanced. Remember to make a reservation to get the best of the tables! We were welcomed in right on time and had a great view of the vines and Lake Michigan in the distance. Of the places we visited on this trip, Brys had the best wines. There were no dogs on the patio. Had we brought our dog, we could have purchased a bottle and enjoyed it in a garden area outside the winery.

Outdoor dining on the patio. Online reservations are required. Beautiful view and nice background music.A flight of wine is $15. The frose was delicious! Perfect for a hot sunny day. Their charcuterie was $18. Great quality and price. Everything was delicious here. All the tables were 6 ft apart. The workers wore masks. Each table had their own hand sanitizer. The sanitizers were made at their Secret Garden which is a lavender field. This field is next to the winery. They have a gift shop there where you can buy the hand sanitizers, souvenirs, and other products. You can also pick your own lavender!

We did not enjoy our experience at Brys. Upon arriving a few minutes early for our reservation, they told us our table wasn’t ready and invited us to take a drive down to their lavender fields. We figured, great, we wanted to see them anyways. To our dismay, the fields were already harvested! I’m not a farmer, so maybe it had to be that way. Cant blame anyone for timely harvesting. We were totally cool with that. The hostesses and customer service however, was critically lacking. When we showed up again to get seated, they refused to seat 2 of the people in our party because they were late additions. They could not be accommodated. While we understand the idea that reservations need to be accurate during covid-times, they seated two people that were in line in front of us who had no reservations. We saw, heard, and witnessed the whole thing. However, maybe they got the last two seats, so again, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and continued on our customer journey, sans 2 people. It was not an easy send-off.As the hostess led us to our table and set down our menus, she obnoxiously lets us know that we only have 90 minutes. The way she said it was neither subtle nor welcoming. But fine, 90 minutes, plenty of time. When we tried to order a final round, they then told us our time was up and we could not place anymore orders. Math is math though, and we had 20 minutes left. So on top of the draconian 90 minutes imposition, they didn’t even give us 90 minutes. When we asked to speak to a manager to simply let them know how time works, they doubled down, and no manager was made available to speak to us. Weak sauce. A google review was the only way to communicate to management.Suffice it to say, we will not be going back to Brys.

My wife and I shared a flight of red wines. While they were all very good, the Merlot was exceptional and we bought a bottle to take home. The employees were knowledgeable and very friendly. Finally they were very COVID-19 cautious as our temperatures were taken before we entered the tasting room and hand sanitizer and spacing were prevalent.

Honestly, this was probably a 5 star experience but it was lost by our server. I lost the paper with his name on it, but he was much more concerned with the table behind us and we felt like an after thought. The wine was great and the view was spectacular, sadly is was spoiled by someone who couldnt answer some simple questions and hardly did the job we expected of him.

Our experience at Brys was unfortunately very unenjoyable. We were greeted by the hostess with an unpleasant attitude and did not feel welcome whatsoever. They would not seat 2 additional people to our group, even on a separate table, even though they were seating small groups without a reservation. So 2 of them had to stay outside. We were eventually seated and told we have 90 minutes. The waiter did not crack a smile the entire time and appeared annoyed to be working. When we tried to order a final round of drinks we were told that our time was up even though we had 20 minutes left. (We were also seated 15 minutes late.) We then asked to speak to a manager and to our dismay would not come to our table to address our concerns. We paid our bill and decided to head over to Bonobos Winery where they were welcoming and pleasant. Safe to say we will not be going back to Brys.

One of my favourite moments In Traverse City. It’s more than a vineyard, it’s an experience. You can explore the grounds, they have free lavender fields that you can walk through and purchase lavender if you’d like. You can buy their wine, do tastings or order a cocktail. We ordered their froze and it was heaven!! They blend their wine with strawberries and it was so quenching on that hot day.So cool, will be back.

Stunning views of Lake Michigan coupled with amazing wine. We could not do the wine tour since we forgot to make reservations and there was a 2-2.5 hour wait. Definitely recommend making reservations in advance. They did offer us to wine tastings on the porch with a great snack box. My husband tried their Sauv Blanc and I tried their Signature Rose. Both were absolutely delicious and they gave us the wine glasses as souvenirs.

We stopped at Brys today - first visiting the lavender garden then the winery. The employee in the lavender shop was working on a calligraphy project and was rather short with my mom while explaining the cash register process (as she spent a good amount of money in their shop.) We then proceeded to the winery. The man working the welcome stand greeted us only by asking if we had a reservation (we did not) and curtly let us know we could sit outside and would only be allowed in the building to use the restroom. We proceeded to the outdoor area, ordered two frozes. My froze was filled considerably less than my aunt’s, which I mentioned but the server didn’t acknowledge. I enjoyed the froze so much, but the multiple negative touch points of service today were quite off putting. I hope we have a better experience if we return.

We had a reservation and visited Brys Estate on Friday, September 18th. This winery is beautiful, and we’re glad it was one of our stops. The patio deck is very nice, with lovely views. We enjoyed a delicious charcuterie board and flights of wine. The Gewürztraminer was our first choice in white, and we bought some to bring home. The Rose was alright, the Merlot was okay, and we didn’t care for the other reds. We’ve heard that this region has much better whites than reds, and it seems that may be true.**To the management: your host/greeter could be friendlier, and the patio could really use some music. If there was any, we couldn’t hear it.

Visited this beautiful winery for my 35th birthday on June 16th. The wine selection was great. The views of the lake and the vineyard made for some great photographs too. My only disappointment was they dont do anything special for your bday, they didnt offer a tour of the grounds or the secret garden. Im also giving the waitstaff a free pass here (which I dont normally do). Service wasnt good, but to their defense, they have only been open for a month since the Covid-19 shut down and have new employees they are currently training. The Manager however, Ernest Driver, went above and beyond by making the moment right for me. I commend him for his customer service skills. Thanks again Ernest!

Brys is a great stop to make. Although their tasting was the most expensive one we came across on the Old Mission wine trail, it was still worth it. On busy days they have you move through stations to get your tasting, which was very cool. You go from the front room to the wine bottling area, to the barrel room, to a different room in between, and back out to the main bar. They also have recently expanded their deck, where you can go out to drink a glass and relax. If you give your email address, they also give you a truffle to eat with your fourth tasting - very good pairing.Their wines are a little on the expensive side, and we did end up buying a bottle here, but all of the wines that we tried were very good. This winery has a more upscale feel to it, almost snooty. But I will say that most of the staff that we encountered were friendly. They did seem to rush us through the stations and our tasting as a whole. Also, check out the secret garden if you have some down time. It is very cool!

Not a big white wine person but I was pleasantly surprised, granted its not like the vineyards in Califorina or Europe. (Check out the vinyards on the Douro River if you ever get a chance) That said I was plesently surprised. The Frosé was an intresting idea that I actually had two samples of and the signature red was a solid 2.5-3 star wine for me which is a solid mark in my book especially for how young it still is. Definelty will be back.

We didn’t care for the method in which they let you taste their wines. We’ve visited Napa/Sonoma and Willamette Valley multiple times where the wine tastings are all about building a relationship with the taster and educating them on the different varietals that are produced. This tasting felt very impersonal as they had 5 different tasting stations and moved you in a line through the interior to each station. The staff pouring was friendly but didn’t seem to be very well educated on their own wines as they just recited the tasting notes that were already listed on the paper we were carrying around. Their wines were just ok and it seemed like they just wanted to push as many people through their tasting as possible instead of focusing on relationship building and telling their story as a winery. Since they are a winery in Northern Michigan and not on the West coast, I would think their main priority would be to educate people on the various wines offered and how they might differ from anything they’ve tasted before to help make a name for themselves. The exterior patios were very crowded and boosted good views so I was sorry that we didn’t skip the tasting all together and went straight outside.

I loved so many things about this place I have to return! The first thing I noticed pulling in was how they took care of their vines (they had a type of mesh protecting them.) Their employees were very nice and able to accommodate last second large parties, which was amazing! We toured their whole operation and were able to walk around while tasting. One employee (I believe Christie) recommended we try a red wine, eat a chocolate, and then sip it again because it brings out the fruit tones which was amazing advice because it tasted as if you had tried two completely different wines! Next thing I have to highlight was their views. They had a walk out deck viewing their vines and the water/islands beyond, and one could sit down to enjoy it at their table or walk out to overlook it. They also have lavender fields, which I was not able to tour but will next time I am here. I would return here just for the atmosphere alone.
