Overall, the location was great right near the beach and the accommodations were moderate. The view was amazing and the beach access along with access to Traverse City was very solid and easy!Biggest gripe has to be with the cleanliness of the place overall. The bathroom was fairly terrible and you can clearly see black mold. On top of that, the bathroom had a little less than half of a roll of toilet paper installed and had no replacements. For how much we were paying, I definitely expected better when it came to cleanliness and preperations for the room itself.Maybe look elsewhere if youre looking for a 5 star stay.

I just had the most wonderful stay at The Beach Haus Resort! I stayed 3 nights in a spacious, king jacuzzi room. The jacuzzi tub was amazing and the bed was very comfortable. It’s a family owned resort and I love that. The gentleman running the front desk was both knowledgeable and kind. I will be going back!!

The Beach Haus was okay, but overall fairly disappointing. I am honestly surprised by other reviews. We stay in Traverse City multiple times a year and have tried many local hotels. We tried The Beach Haus this last weekend and we were honestly disappointed. The room was dirty, the bathroom floor, cobwebs. Edges of the tub, we had to kill 3 spiders within minutes of arriving and it just felt very dated and unclean. The doors rattled and were very old, there was black staining around the edges of the tub, and the sliding glass door to the patio was almost inoperable. The patio was great, large and with an amazing view over the bay. However the furniture hadnt been wiped down before our stay, and the seats needed to be cleaned before use.The coffee pot had never been cleaned and was unusable. One of our lamps was unusable as well and the lighting was dim due to this. The bed was comfortable and appeared clean however there is no way to keep it on fan throughout the evening, so we did have to purchase a fan to sleep through our 2nd night.Overall we wont stay again, there are many clean and updated hotels in the area for the same price or less that feel much cleaner to stay in overnight. If they did some small maintenance on their rooms it would make a big difference. This is a basic and safe hotel, if you need somewhere to stay it will do, however it shouldnt be a first choice.

My husband and I stayed in the hot tub suite for our anniversary and made the best of our stay during that time. At first glance the place is quite nice, but you are pretty much paying for the lake access. Rooms are clean, but the courtyard and chairs could use some serious cleaning and maintenance. Cobwebs and cigarette butts everywhere. Broken chairs. The shower will go from comfortable to freezing cold in a split second and then you turn the knob the slightest degree it will cook you like stew. Coffee pot didn’t work properly And there was no breakfast or coffee offered at all. The only vending machine was completely out of beverages. There are no restaurants in the hotel, but the many grills they boast about having are three grills in a small row on the edge of the property, not spread out at all. Despite the cigarette butts all over the courtyard expect to feel like a delinquent child if they catch you smoking in the courtyard. Apparently the only place you can smoke is a single small picnic table situated in the farthest corner of the parking lot right next to the road. The fan in the room is controlled by the thermostat on the wall so it blows all day super cold, when the sun is out, and not at all at night. The only way to block out the noises from traffic and upstairs is to blow the fan on full blast but you only get about five minute increments every two hours or so so prepare for sleepless and warm nights, no matter what temperature you set it to.

Huge disappointment from the what was reflected on-line - completely false advertising - this place looks nothing like the pictures. The room….. horrible. There were spiders everywhere on the inside of the room and the outside sitting area. There was insect droppings all along the baseboards, the room was completely infested with insects, the interior entrance door has mold growing over the top of it, there is mold in the tub area, droplets of something (blood?) on the wall in the bathroom and towels upon arrival, cheap plastic chairs that broke after simply sitting on them, it was truly gross and unsanitary, dated, in disrepair, and a huge disappointment. I am attaching pictures for your reference and am requesting a full refund.

Felt dirty being in the room the ac had a dead bug on it when we tried to lower the ac it wouldnt work the balcony had spiders and webs all over even on the chairs. When we went to the manger 10:30pm at night just to let him know showed him the pictures. he told us pack r stuff and leave which we couldnt believe so we did that he gave us a refund never going back there again

Really disappointed. Very expensive stay so one would expect an exceptional experience. My husband and I came up one day early, we were told that absolutely no early check in option was available - completely understandable considering the circumstances. No big deal. Once we finally were able to come to the hotel, the man who checked us in was incredibly nice and welcoming. The rest of our experience was less than desirable. The beach area is a complete disaster. Spider webs and gnats cover ever single inch of the chairs provided, that includes the walk out patios. It looks as if nothing has been dusted for months. A beautiful gazebo that is just above the beach was disgusting on the inside, it was covered with bird poop and more spider webs. Another sitting area outside had two fire pits available, both propane tanks were empty. My husband was finally able to get one lit at 11pm this evening and we enjoyed a glass of wine by the beach - our first pleasant outdoor experience. We were soon greeted by an irate, middle aged, male employee who yelled at us for having the fire pit turned on. He said “These are supposed to be turned off by 10pm, you need to turn it off NOW!” There was absolutely no sign stating when they had to be turned off and they hadn’t been lit since we arrived, how were we supposed to know? A simple “Hi folks, I’m sorry for the inconvenience but these can not be lit past 10pm” would have sufficed. The employee treated us like delinquent teenagers. We will NEVER return to this location. There are many other spots on the bay that are much more accommodating and clean. Shame on us for trying a new resort. Not to be over dramatic, but it really ruined our trip. We just wanted a nice location and cozy beach to relax by for a couple of days. Instead, we spent the trip swatting at bugs, walking through spider webs and being reprimanded by ornery employees. Extremely frustrating.

Overall it was a great place to stay. The private beach alone is worth the money. Its quiet and the sand isnt dirty like all of the other beaches. The staff was all friendly. Do to Covid they arent doing the breakfast or cookies but thats not the end of the world. Bed was comfortable, pillows were good. My room had a spa tub and that was wonderful. Will stay there again if back in traverse city.

Very nice staff. The manager was very attentive. We stayed 7/1-7/3/2020 in the King/Kitchen patio walk out room. We could tell from the online pics that it was outdated, which was okay. Best views one could find. With that being said, The room was FILTHY. The shower and the ceiling had LOTS of mold, not even joking. We showered with the door open with shoes on. I wanted to complain but I felt like the manager knew. For $300 a night it wasn’t worth the price, with how dirty the room was. Didn’t use anything in the kitchen, everything was dusty, including the lights. The carpet in the room was beyond old and filthy. Grounds and public areas seem to be clean. We booked at the last minute and were just grateful to go somewhere but we will for sure book somewhere a little cleaner next time.

Soooo much beach! The most beach space of all the South Bay hotels. Plus lots of lawn picnic space to relax in.Lovely little hotel with space for family fun. These days when we are all doing take-out, you can picnic here on one of the many picnic tables on the lawn. Or in the gazebo in the shade. And right next door to a boat rental! You don’t even need to put on your shoes. Right across the street from a food market, restaurant, and Pirates Cove putt putt. Fun for the whole family! And did I say beach? The best beach!

The beach and lawn area are nice- though there’s a lot of cobwebs on chairs and on picnic tables/balconies. We must’ve killed at least 7 spiders in our room during our 2-night stay and if you look up at the ceiling and walls you could see where other guests must’ve killed a bunch of bugs too. The room we had needed updating (and probably a deep clean) and it had a slightly strange damp smell. Staff were friendly. Overall, the best part of the hotel is the location, and for the price you’ll pay here I’d recommend staying at one of the other hotels nearby (there are plenty on the beach).

We were supposed to stay here for the entire length of the Labor Day weekend however on our first night in the hotel room we noticed we were getting bit by a small bug. Upon further inspection we noticed fleas jumping out of the carpet and attacking our ankles and legs. We notified management immediately and they were very apologetic. They moved our room for the night while they were supposed to clean the room. We had no additional bites or issues in the alternative room. When we returned to our original room the next night we noticed new bed linens and felt like they must have treated the room for fleas. When we started to get ready for bed the biting started again and we could see the fleas jumping on the bed. At this point we already had bites covering our legs, stomach, and back. We requested to check out early and had to drive to Grand Rapids in the middle of the night to find a place to stay since all of the hotels in Traverse city were booked. We won’t be staying here again and our long weekend was ruined by painful/itchy flea bites and trying to figure out how to flea bomb all of our belongings and car.

We’ve stayed at The Beach Haus several times. The best part of the stay is the beach. It is great to wake up and be 50 feet to the beach from your patio. The rooms are dated but nice, clean and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. Our rm had a fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. The staff are all very nice but the beach needed combing. I asked about this but it wasn’t done the 3 days we were there. It was still nice to sit out on the beach. Note no breakfast due to Covid.

While I would love to give a higher score, I cant. Why cant I, because while location and the set up of the rooms are perfect, there is a definite need for a remodel especially at the price per night. Would I go back, yes. Good Afternoon, I just want to share my experience for all of social media so no one can make the same mistake booking with this resort again! A few weeks ago I chose to book this hotel through bookings.com. My total should have been $309 plus tax (as shown on bookings.com and The Beach Haus website for any Thursday and Friday night booking) Once I booked it seemed that the website reverted back to just one booking day.. I immediately went online and changed the booking to add the second day. However the price went up to $430.. which is nothing close to what is shown on booking.com or their website for 2 days a Thursday and Friday night. When I called to see why I would be charged $100 extra they gave me the run around and to call Bookings.com, I called bookings.com and they said its up to my resort to refund me and it makes sense they would push it on them so they dont have to deal with it. They charged me the wrong price for my second day and are refusing to work with me and give my refund. Please please be careful booking with this resort.. their customer service is trash and they obviously DO NOT care for their customers if they are trying to OVERCHARGE them!

The room was extremely run down jaccuzi tub was dirty, the nicest thing in our room was the tv. When we brought attention to the staff and requested a refund because we wanted to find another place he told us good luck, but ill give you your refund. Then he proceeded to double refund us and call another employee on the phone who we could hear bashing us for leaving, to the point the guy at the front desk had to say they are still here in the office ill tell you why they want to leave later... The room looked nothing like the ones pictured if you are considering staying here i would hight advise you not to. We ended up getting a huge suite next door for less than half the price... What a wonderful family vacation stay. This is the perfect hotel to stay with your children. They have sand toys galore for the children to play with on the beach which my kids just loved. As a younger family sometimes its so hard to dine out during your entire stay but this hotel has several grills on site free to use and the best meat market is directly across the street. The grounds outside are just beautiful and eating breakfast out on the water was just lovely. Kids loved the fresh cookies nightly!!
