Wonderful hiking trails. Its absolutely surprising to find a lovely stretch of wilderness this close to a bigger city like Tallahassee.A word of advice though, use plenty of mosquito spray before entering the woods, the mosquitoes are voracious

Hiking at 2 pm in July is a challenge. It was 93 but the trails are all shaded. There is a brook to wade in especially if you are a dog. There is a play ground but closed for Covid. The rest rooms are open. There is a lake boardwalk with tons of turtles.

A.J. Henry Park in Killearn is one of my favorite places to visit when I want to be outside and I go at least once a week. It sits on a lovely lake with decking on the lakefront. With covered picnic tables, trails in the woods and a small playground for kids it has everything for an afternoon away from the house, yet it’s in our neighborhood. At present, this park with its magnificent tree cover and community of birds, is undergoing renovation to make it more accessible for everyone. I’ve been assured the work should be completed soon.

My family has enjoyed AJ Henry since 1993. I spent a good amount of my childhood and teen years here. I miss how it used to look with the wooden playground structure, but the current one today seems to be enjoyed the kids. The nature trail is routinely maintained and well marked; it has a nice blend of not being too long or too short. Excellent for a runner like me who likes upward slopes, or if you prefer mostly flatland there is a loop around it. The creek at one part is a very lovely sight and can be fun to do some exploring around. Sandwiched between Arbor Hills and and another neighborhood makes it a nice off the main road gem thats inhibited mostly by locals.

I love this hidden little park. Standing between Killearn Estates and Arbor Hills, the park (often used as a cut-through) has it all. We take our little family there regularly to enjoy the wildlife, playground, and the trails. Additionally, on more than one occasion we have hosted birthday parties or attended special events at the park.

Nice little quaint part. There is a small playground for the little ones. Swing set included!! There is also a nice dock that is perfect for fishing off, although I will note that catching fish here happens seldolmy. But, fishing is all about patience, and there are large bass in the very large pond/small lake...(not sure wether its a pond or lake. Could be a large pond, or small lake) !

This park is a real surprise. It Barley shows up on the map, but it really delivers for a great hiking trail. The trail area occupies a good balance of Forrest and creek setting with a lot of good trail bridges and stairways that really make the area feel like an adventure, and their is enough hidden and cool parts of the trail/park to keep things interesting. It will honestly take a few visits for you to see it all (which is very impressive considering how small this park really is compared to many of the other ones in town)If you find yourself in Killaren with a few hours to kill, its worth your time to check it out.Id take some points off for the fact that most of the trails could really use some serious up-keep and seem to lead nowhere (and unfortunately, it also needs a bit of a cleanup of litter)

Review №53

Went with the family to this park and we were the only ones there. The park itself look like it was seldom used, we decided to go and explore the dock when we heard one single gun shot rang out, it could of been from a small caliber rifle like a 22 or something, needless to say we got back in the car and left.

Review №55

I hike this trail regularly for excercise because its basically in my back yard. If you stay on the outer boundry (Dont take any of the short cuts) and do both loops the trail is 1.9 - 2.0 miles. The conection point for the two loops is a bridge over a small stream . . . For whatever reason this particular spot seems to attract pot smokers . . . Im guessing because its back away from the parking area and is well hidden by tree cover etc., so if youre sensitive about that kind of thing or have young children in tow youve been warned !!
