So beautiful, every inch of the park was worth the trip. Filled with lush trees and streams. You will find people taking in the scenery, jogging, hiking, laying in the grass, or picnicking. Couples, families and individuals enjoy this vast land. This place is definitely a Shyi Recommended so, if you are ever in the Seattle area, come visit Discovery Park.

Great park. It was recommended to us by my husbands boss & we drove from the Portland area just to come to this park for the day. So much space that you don’t have to worry about it being crowded, there’s room for everyone. There’s a little bit of everything here: forest, beach, picnic areas, lots of grassy fields etc.

Great outing spot near Seattle downtown. Mere $13 uber, if you don’t have a car. There a bunch of different trails to do nearby. I would recommend using the North trail to get to lighthouse and the South trail to come back. South trail has some of the best views of the bay.

Great views, the best park in the city. The light house is surrounded by a lot of stones so you cannot take the bike until there and there is not bike parking in the car parking (the small one near the lighthouse).

The end of the trail brings you to the beach next to the lighthouse. This is the West point lighthouse. And it does come out to a point. The water is beautiful and there is plenty of Beachwood should you desire a fire. Although, fires are not currently allowed on the beach.

A gorgeous light hike will have you go through various throws of fauna and terrain. You will see the woods, the sandy beach, the picturesque mountains and a very charming, small, red and white lighthouse that is not your typical lighthouse. The views are spectacular and you will see the mountains from Olympic National park on a clear day. It’s extremely lively during Autumn because you can see the forest in multiple colors and it just is breathtakingly beautiful.

My second time at Discovery Park but this time, made a point to visit the light house. This place is super awesome and lots of trails which gives you a great workout. I did a 2 hour walk and although it was mostly flat, I did have to go through some hills to get to and from the lighthouse. Awesome Seattle experience

The lighthouse is nothing to write home about, but the beach is nice on a sunny day. Be warned that the trails and beach can get very crowded on weekends, especially in the time of COVID-19 when nothing else is open and families are flocking to the nearby parks and beaches. I would recommend going early in the day or going to another beach like Carkeek Park to avoid crowds and respect social distancing.

Located in a massive park called Discovery Park, the West Point Lighthouse is worthy of a visit. You must hike to get to it, otherwise take an Uber or Lyft down but you wont be able to park at the site. Wear shoes suitable for mud in the winter as it can be muddy on the dirt trail, but once you get down to the beach it is incredible.

After a long hiking. Come down to this beach and eat your snack, lunch, or whatever, while enjoying the view. This spot is located at Discovery park. You can also drive down, but I recommend hiking down to it, its worth trying for. It was a weekday that I go, so I have the whole beach for myself. Weekdays lots of people.

The actual lighthouse is small and not that exciting. However the beach is pretty incredible. On a nice sunny day you can enjoy the water with the beautifully scattered driftwood along the coast. The hike from the visitor center isnt too bad. You will eventually need to go down many stairs. My only complaint are the shuttles to and from. Its hard to get on one and also the pickup and drop off spots arent labeled well.

My visit took place about 7 months ago as of this review. This place is incredibly beautiful. The walk here took about 35 to 40 minutes from the discovery park entrance. Even the walk there is breathtaking. The smell of early morning dew combined with the soil gives every visitor such a welcomed morning. Better than the smell of any morning coffee. This magical place makes you feel like you are walking on some enchanted land from the olden times of the medieval era. The greenary, the wind, the sound of the Pacific ocean smashing through the rocks, it all comes together like some orchestra from nature. Once you get to the lighthouse, you find yourself at this little peninsula. Rocky and acoustic, other than the light structure it is just you, the scattered clouds, the small dark sanded shore and the ocean. The end reward is worth it. Highly recommended. I enjoyed this hike a lot. My family & I parked in the North Parking lot. I deducted a star b/c every trash can in the park seemed to be over flowing. The hike from the north parking lot to the west point lighthouse in Discovery park took us about 40min to hike w/ a six yr old who enjoys taking lots of breaks. Fairly easy, a few areas of the trail that need repair but nothing you cant get around. Parts of the trail are directly behind the water treatment plant & occasiotrial you might smell a mild sulfur scent through certain areas. Lots of spots to look out on the water before you get back to the beachy area. ***There is a parking lot as well right at the west point lighthouse but you have to have a parking permit from the visitor center to park there. (although, Im not sure if thats strictly enforced b/c we saw a lot of people come & go w/out one & didnt get towed so thats a plus.)
