An extremely unique piece located as part of a large collection of art works in the Fremont area including the Fremont troll, Statue of Lenin, and the Waiting for the Interurban historical landmark. Lovely informational graphic nearby which explains in detail the background and the towering rocket statue is quite unique and unexpected in a quiet Seattle neighborhood. Its presence is bold but also understated and blends in until you look up. Had a little bit of trouble finding the rocket even after seeing the information board nearby. Hint: Its attached to the side of the building and the bottom of the rocket is not visible until you almost see the roof of the building.

Seattle Must See ~ The Fremont Rocket is a rocket sculpture in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, #Washington, in the United States. Before relocating to Fremont, the rocket was displayed at an army surplus store in Seattles Belltown neighborhood. It moved to its current location when the surplus store went out of business in 1994. The rocket was constructed from military surplus, using the tail boom of a Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar transport aircraft dressed up with rocket-like fins. #localguides

Probably cooler at night, but whatever. Theres a lot to see in Fremont. We spent an afternoon looking in little shops and didnt grab anything to eat, but there are lots of places to. Parking is a pain though!

An iconic landmark in Fremont that always turns our thoughts skyward towards outer space.

Something I suppose you have to see as a right of passage. Worth a look if youre in the neighborhood.

Worth seeing in passing, but dont come to Fremont on its account. Fortunately theres lots more to do nearby. There is a nice placard, explaining why it exists, etc.

Not actually a rocket but the tail boom of a Fairchild C-119 “Flying Boxcar” US military plane. The fins were added and not part of the original airplane.

Super cool and inventive way to recycle a rocket... on the top of a building. Why not? Fremont neighbourhood is all about originality and reusing what would have normally been thrown away into something great and exciting! The stores on the main level are trendy and expensive. Be prepared to spend lots of cash.

Cute novelty of you are walking around Freemont. Looks much better at night when it changes colors and so does the planet on the building across the street.

This is one of the things walking around Fremont is wonderful. Just a huge rocket in the top of a building with a panel in the street level explaining the story behind it. Cool isnt it?

It’s one of the reasons Fremont calls itself the center of the universe. Wish it were in a different local so one could take better pics.

Cool piece of art. Saturn across the street adds some nice design interaction.

Keep Freemont weird. This helps. We cant neglect pop art and random designs of whimsy.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. It makes no sense but adds to the character of Fremont and the wackiness. I wish theyd let you go in it.

Not impressed or maybe I was just expecting more of this landmark. I couldnt even find a placard containing some of the history behind it.
