Great place for a family photo shoot. Lots of trails to walk along and explore. Will definitely visits again.
Walk around. Look at birds. Watch for cyclists, watch for pedestrians dont stand in the middle of trails and enjoy yourself.
Always enjoyable time. Took a lotbof pictures, but not on my phone...
We stopped by Center for Urban Horticulture to check out the famous corpse flower.Who would have guessed you would ever stand in line to smell something that stinks so much?We mostly visited the greenhouse and walked around some of the gardens. Its a nice little destination if you just want to have nice walk on a spring or summer afternoon. There still was a lot to see that we didnt get around to, so I can only imagine it would get better.
Healer Swamp is part of the UW Horticultural Center.
From my time in horticultural studies in the mid-west, future study promises to be good and satisfying at UW. Looking forward!
I come to the center for their fantastic exhibits and demonstrations. As we face the challenges caused by our quickly changing climate, its good to have examples of how to live and grow in our urban habitat.
Always nice
Wonderful place to hike!
Whether you are an arborist or amateur, there is plenty to learn there.
I was married here in September of 2008. It was a beautiful spot for a wedding, affordable if you are an alumni and being able to open the hall as and indoor/outdoor space was great. The park itself is nice getaway as you can walk down to the water on clearly marked paths and enjoy the north edge of the arboretum.
Nice outdoor area to see with UW garden happening all year round. Nice natural trails to walk bonus is a small library on site which you can become a member and borrow books from. Cute little reading nook with kid books to enjoy.
The Center for Urban Horticulture has four major areas: the Elizabeth C. Miller library, the research halls and greenhouse, the courtyard gardens, and the wetland area. The library is an amazing resource for gardening and restoration work, and has ample seating. The library setup is definitely old-school, though - you register on a sheet of paper, and even UW students must join this system before checking out books - but the staff and book selection are awesome. The research halls and greenhouse are generally off limits to the public, but the courtyards and wetland area are great places to explore. I often see people running with their dogs, or early morning birders with their cameras out exploring in the fog.
This place is fantastic! If you are looking for garden info, they have it. If you simply want a quiet place to do some work, it is lovely, has internet, and is way more secluded than a coffee shop.
What an incredible space to have a wedding. My husband and I graduated from UW, but we were completely unaware of this hidden gem of a venue behind the university driving range. We held a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony, wedding ceremony, and reception at the Center for Urban Horticulture (CUH). It is an excellent place for a moderate sized wedding - ours was 150ish people - and there was so much room to roam (great for those families with kiddos!)We had no problems booking the venue after a tour with Britney Para, a helpful and upbeat venue manager at CUH. She guided us through the various possibilities on where to hold each ceremony and how past weddings have flowed. She was clear with us from the start of a few key points: We were responsible for mostly everything, she would request help for chair setup, etc. but we should essentially treat our venue rental as a community center rental. They will be there to open and close the doors, but you cannot expect any more. We were fine with this, as we worked with a rental company that helped with setup, teardown, etc. The price of booking the entire venue was very reasonable, especially for Seattle.CUH uses a preferred catering list, but to deviate from this list only costs $200. We opted to use a different caterer and it was not an issue. They also offer the use of AV and electronic equipment for an added nominal fee if you want to have a slideshow or video. Be aware that there is an extra fee on top of the normal venue fee ($400ish) to use the Goodfellow Grove, but for us, we fell in love with it and had to use it for our wedding ceremony! The Goodfellow Grove, in my opinion, elevates the wedding ambiance because it gives that earthy, green PNW vibe that we all know and love ;)Aside from wedding stuff, CUH is a great place to run, walk through, and explore. I run on the trails behind the venue all the time, as they connect to Montlake and other trails around the UW area. CUH is a happening place, with weddings, meetings, and plant sales throughout the year. I love that every time I come, the scenery changes with the seasons.
This is a beautiful garden. I attended a wedding here and it was lovely.
Beautiful and interesting gardens as well as extensive adjoining grounds and great birding area.
Great atmosphere...wonderful gardens!
Visited there in January. May not be a right season. Fields are all abandoned, except for the center working area.
