I took a grand total of three tours with Wild SF and each one was brilliant in its own way. I originally selected the free walking tour because it was run by creatives who live in San Francisco. I knew it would be full of fun personalities, local urban legends, a bit of flare, and that they wouldnt shy away from the harder topics in history. I wasnt wrong, the free downtown tour with Mina was wonderful, from sordid pasts to heart warming stories, it had everything I want from a tour, the history, the politics, the legends. All from a very knowledgeable and friendly Mina, a costume designer, who knew the most quirky and wonderful stories of the city, and delivered them with the skill of an actor.Mina also took my paid tour through the Street Art in the Mission district, which was an easy stroll through some politically important art pieces, local mission history, and the art crews who call the area home. Finally, I took the delicious food tour with the amazing Fisher which also, to my surprise, doubled as a delightful history tour of the area (not just the food). There was a LOT of food on the tour, so make sure you only have a light breakfast before hand! Like Mina, Fisher was a delight - a filmmaker who has a flare for storytelling - Fish was knowledgeable, happy, and constantly checking in with everyone.I highly recommend this great tour company.

First off, our guide Leong was a gem. You could tell from the first minute shes incredibly passionate about the Mission District and proved her knowledge throughout the tour. It was great to learn about some of the history and population of the neighbourhood, as well as current issues such as how gentrification and racial profiling continue to push out long-time residents. The tour itself was a little light on the total number of murals and graffiti we visited, however if youre looking for an in-depth look at the Mission District, this is the tour you want.

Mary was an excellent host for the Haunted SF tour. Walking around Union Square and getting the spooky low-down on many of SF’s mysterious happenings was a highlight of my trip. I’ve been to SF about a dozen times so I’ve done all the “touristy” things and wanted to try something off the beaten path. Book this tour and you’ll leave with a queue of curiosities to google later and an appreciation for the city’s dark past. Good clean morbid fun!

Juliette, our lovely tour guide was so special because she had all of us introduce ourselves and hold hands in a circle and said a blessing with white sage for protection before and after the Ghost/Haunted tour. She said that she was raised by drag queens and hippies and lived nearby. She dressed up in a costume that was a dead Victorian woman. The information she gave was precise and very interesting. She kept us very engaged while giving us the information and allowed us to ask questions as well as asking us questions herself. Her voice was clear and very audible over all the noise and street sounds. The tour group size was just perfect. Her demeanor was pleasant and creepy when she laughed sarcastically after telling us a joke, with a creepy “Mwahahahaaa!!” When the tour was over, she had us pose for a group selfie. It was so fun. We’d do the tour again and again.

This walking tour was everything I wanted: engagingly informational for the range of ages in my group, smart, not too short & not too long. Fischer is an excellent guide! My kids were talking about his stories during the rest of our trip, we’d be walking around & they’d say, here’s the ugliest hotel, etc. Even my brother who’s lived in the Bay Area for decades learned a lot. I loved that Fischer covered immigration histories and social issues that shape SF and CA today. He interweaves these topics seamlessly into the tour so that they really illuminate areas on or adjacent to the tour like Market Street, the financial district, the tenderloin and Chinatown. We had a good sized group, yet Fischer made it feel like an intimate experience. I tipped as generously as I could - its a free tour, and these guys deserve it!
