An amazing tour that gives you a perspective you wont get anywhere else. Jay is an amazing guide with endless information. Very informative and very personal. I could tell how much Jay loved what he was talking about and that makes the experience all the better. I cannot express how enjoyable this was. If i am ever in the city again, i will definitely book this tour again.

Totally awesome. The park is nice but can get busy. Beautiful option for a quick picnic and a great photo-op. TIP: even when busy it only took two trips around the park to find someone leaving and snag a spot.Definitely recommend.

I agree with every positive comment already posted here. Jay created an enjoyable, comfortable, and informative way to see a special part of the city. We were stopped twice by local home (mansion) owners (who are familiar with Jay) for a friendly chat. Jay was our ticket to this intimate San Fransisco adventure.

Jay shares amazing information about homes and designs mixed with the history and evolution of old San Francisco and the new. Well worth the time and money.

Ive been studying architecture casually and Jay answered all of my questions. He knows his stuff! And also, he makes the tour entertaining by telling intimate stories about the homes, and clearly has talked to city elders and homeowners to get the kinds of stories you cant even find in books.

My mom and I really loved the tour. Mr. Gifford was friendly and very knowledgeable. We loved learning about the history of the city through its painted ladies and walking in less touristy neighbourhoods. Merci beaucoup, monsieur Gifford! We 100% recommend this tour.

I took this tour with my family when they visited the city, and it is awesome! Jay is entertaining and passionate. The tour is a mix of history, architecture, and celebrity fun facts. Its a great inexpensive way to spend a couple hours and get to know the best of San Francisco. The tour ends by Union Street, which is a terrific neighborhood to grab lunch.

Jay is a great guide! He walks you through different neighborhoods without making you go up or down one of those steep streets. You get to see spots I wouldn‘t have thought of as a tourist and you hear all about the interesting history. The tour ends in a vivid area with lots of restaurants and little shops, very nice!

Awesome tour!! Jay is a great tour guide; very knowledgeable, answered all questions. Have done the big tours around San Francisco, but learned much more from Jay. It’s an “easy on the knees” walk (as promised). Would recommend this to everyone. Thanks Jay

We were so lucky to find this tour of the beautiful Victorian homes in San Francisco. Its a walking tour and even though I have knee problems, I was able to tolerate this with no pain. Its slow and low impact and the streets are not the sometimes 90 degree angles other SF streets seem to have. The guide, Jay, was so knowledgeable and gave lots of info regarding the 1906 earthquake and subsequent fire and how many of these lovely homes were spared. We had a special tour of the Queen Anne Hotel, which is particularly beautiful at Christmastime. Since Jay is a long-time SF resident, we were able to get additional information about great restaurants and other attractions to visit. It was a delightful way to spend the afternoon strolling around the neighborhoods. If you have time for one guided tour, this is the one you should take.

We had a great time on this tour! Jay did a great job taking us across town to see a variety of homes and styles that no tourist would find on their own. It was easy and enjoyable and he was able to share interesting historical as well as architectural information. We have been to San Francisco MANY times and have done most all of the typical tours and attractions. The Victorian Home Walk was one of the most fun and by far the BEST VALUE compared with things we have done in the City.

We loved the Victorian Home Walk Tour! It’s a must do in San Francisco! It is about 2 hours and on select days of the week meeting at 11am at Union Square. Our guide, Jay, was exactly where he said he would be and was very easy to find. He also recommended the least expensive parking garage, which is the Mission Street Parking Garage on 5th and Mission Street. This is a good 20 minute walk to Union Square, but you pass several parking structures which are way more expensive. Jay was fabulous! He was on time, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about not only all the Victorian homes and styles, but the various kinds of international trees, flowers, and general history of San Francisco. You can see his love for the city is emulated in his tours.A majority of this tour took place just a blocks from Japantown. We went inside the Queen Ann Hotel, which is a Victorian gem and just stunning! We saw the Mrs. Doubtfire house, the “Party of Five” house, and a few other celebrity houses. You do not see the Full House row of houses, but it is on the same street we were on, just several blocks down. It is a walking tour so be prepared to walk. You do get on a bus in the beginning of the tour, but the ticket is included. It is family friendly as we took our one-year-old and he did fine. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather with pants and at least a light jacket as the city is usually always chilly and windy even in the summer. You pay $25 in cash at the end of the tour and are given a complimentary magnet. We highly recommend it!
