Million dollar staircase, million dollar houses, priceless views and beauty all for free.Heart pumpingly steep and numerous stairs to bust your butt and get in great shape.I run it so many times I decided to count them.292.From very bottom at the redwood trees to the very top.

One of the best places to take a walk that will also get your heart rate up a bit. The steps are super steep. If you are fit enough, you should definitely climb up rather than down, the view feels earned. You can also approach at the top from Broadway and enjoy a great view, if youre not up for a steep climb.

Id recommend starting from the bottom or parking at the bottom. I parked at the top of the stairs and walked to the Palace of Fine Arts and then Had to track back only to finish going straight up the stairs. Exhausting but definitely worth the views and scenery either way you go.

First of all, I have to say it’s the good workout and you better have the energy or get ready to climb before going there, otherwise you have to go to the top of the stairs and then walk down from the top. Anyway, there are the great view to see palace of fine art and the pier and north peninsula. If the weather is not too bad, you can clearly see the whole part of this area.

Gorgeous views you will see from this place!Lyon Street Steps is a free attraction and basically is just steep stairs with lots of green around, with some small squares in between. But it is more than that, the views are just spectacular from here. When I was there, there were lots of stairs runners so watch out for them and don’t interrupt their exercise! You will probably be out of breath, but you can rest and admire the views at the small squares in between the stairs.

Great steps. All the way down was easy but going up made my legs wobble. Steps showed me I need to work out again. Covid 19s fault. Im sticking to that.

One of the more fun uphill sets in SF. Definitely a popular workout spot for runners and tourists. The views and design are great and it sets you in one of the most expensive zip codes in the country. Id chalk it up on your list of things to do in SF before you leave—whether youre a tourist or a local.

These steps are beautiful and well kept. I usually go there around 7pm while Im out for a run. The reason theyre not 5 stars is because theyre so popular with tourists and fitness enthusiasts, its usually quite a busy thoroughfare.

Well, beautiful. But during the pandemic? Avoid the exercise fanatics/jihadis who would (did) push a mother and baby out of the way to complete their 4th stair climb in good time.

Interesting fact: you must climb up to 332 steps! This place as amazing as everything in San Francisco if you like sightseeing, taking pictures, ensemble architecture, and just enjoying exploring San Francisco, then you chose the right place! Just dont climb in foggy days you wont be able to see anything.

This was so exhausting after walking from Pier 39 but view is wonderful. I recommend taking your time climbing up if you are not very athletic and bringing water. Take lots of pictures and appreciate the view on the top! You can continue exploring the Presidio and do more hiking or walking from here. My husband and I decided to walk down the steps to the Palace of Fine Arts, which was around a 15-20 minute walk. My husband by the way didnt think the views at the top were impressive or that it was worth it. Think about making the trek before you do!

One of the many hidden gems in San Francisco. Lyon Street Steps are great for runners who want to do some power work while enjoying view of San Francisco Bay, the Palace of Fine Arts and the lovely architecture in this neighborhood. If you’re a cyclist, riding up these hills is also great interval work, then you can head into the Presidio and along Crissy Field to the Golden Gate Bridge or ride along the coast by going south. The spot and views are dreamlike in their mix of nature, architecture and views, so take the time to explore a little.

Only good for one time visit..and maybe a few pics. Though the view is nice, its a residential area, and there are no spots to sit and enjoy the view.Instead roam around The Presidio nearby, and nature lovers would really enjoy the atmosphere there.

Wonderful spot to observe the City and the Bay. It makes a great walk from downtown, and then you can ride bus No3 back. The park nearby is also great for a workout, walk or meditation. The whole area is quiet and residential, and one can spot Golden Gate Bridge from here and there in nice weather.

Great set of steps for both a view and exercise! 291 steps each direction not counting the platform areas which require walking too! Locals can be seen going up and down as an outdoor stairmaster exercise, or the tourists walking and talking in the sights! Runs parallel to the border of Park Presidio, entrance to the park is at the top

This place is definitely worthy-visiting in SF!Although I feel it pretty under-rated, its a nice place to click great shots with the bay area back-drop.Walking up extra-steep hilly roads by the posh Pacific Heights neighborhood, could be a little daunting for many to get here (Uber recommended for people with knee issues).

A place you need to see when visiting San Francisco for the first time. If you live in the city and are looking for a great workout outside, this is the place. Its very crowded on a sunny day. If youre a Walker, which I suggest if youve never walked like ten flights of stairs. You would need to stay to youre right, because runners are also going up and down. My favorite time is at night. Its romantic with your chosen one and quiet.

The view is gorgeous and the steps arent too difficult; the only problem I had was..... Theres no LION!!! I was told the name came from 2 giant golden lions sitting underneath the stairs, but after walking all that steps down, I didnt find any lion. Except the cute lion head decorated charming house thats in the movie Princesss Diary! Wow! guess that makes it alright ~
