For years, I have always called it the White Candle Stick because it does look like one. Coit Tower, a slender white concrete column rising from the top of Telegraph Hill, has been an emblem of San Franciscos skyline since its completion in 1933, a welcoming beacon to visitors and residents alike. It sits on top of Pioneer Park in down town San Francisco and provides 360-degree views of the city and bay, including the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. Furthermore, there are tower viewers (binoculars) around the place so you can see other landmarks in the bay area. Parking at the tower is very, very limited, so I suggest park on the surrounding street. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and the free self tour guide.

A place to be visited when in San Francisco. Best to go in a clear day, so the skyline can be seen much better. At night the view from the top of hill is awesome, once the lights of the city and the tower itself make the scene even more beautiful. Be prepared to get stuck at traffic when going up by car. A good option would be to use alternative transportation.

Coit tower is such a great place to look out and over all of the San Francisco landscape! Theres a great view of the bay and downtown SF. Multiple trails, parking is free, and there are multiple stationary binoculars (that cost 25 cents for a couple minutes) so you can see closer! Overall great visit. Loved it!!

This was worth the trip up the hill. We spent about 20 mins here. It was closed up due to Covid. We just walked around and took in the several viewpoints of the city. Great opportunity for some cool pictures. Recommend stopping here while youre in the city. Also check out Lombard street. The drive in between these two locations is pretty neat. Karma cafe is along the route. Also worth a stop.

Cant imagine a visit to SF without a walk up Filbert or Sansom St steps to Coit Tower. Tower sits in park-like setting, a gift to the city in 1935. Adjacent turf by Tower offers panaramas of the bay. And more magical, mystical San Francisco vistas.A caveat -- due to Covid situation -- entry into Coit Tower isnt currently possible.Note: Everyones welcome to walk/drive up the hill. Meander its beautiful grounds, ck out the calm, serene vibe.Interior features murals painted on curved walls dating back to mid1930s, many by Mexican artist Diego Rivera(m Frieda Kahlo). Commissions by FDRs WPA provided jobs to out-of-work artists....these gems, along w/a $5 elevator ride to upper level may be reinstated.Contact SF tourism.Visiting the oddly wonderful + awe inspiring spot is a great stretch for the legs. Recommend!***Great at Tonys/to go upon descending hilltop to Stockton St.

Scenic landmark and memorable drive up the streets getting up to it. First place one of our host brought us when we hit the city from the bay area at the end of January 2020. Pity the tower was closed for maintenance else greater views could be seen from up there. The murals tells a fascinating story of the making of this city into an industrial powerhouse and finance its known for in this state.

Cant remember the time before last going when there were actually people there.... I say that because last time I went was during coronavirus restrictions and it was very empty. If you dare there are still the little 25cent binoculars that you can look out over the city with that are operational in the parking lot area. Its a nice view. The tower is very old too and a historic landmark.

Coit Tower for sure has the best view in San Francisco. Will cost you some effort climbing the steps at Greenwich Steps, but is so worth it!Entering Coit Tower you will find unbelievably painted walls all over the ground floor. Once you’ve purchased a ticket, you can admire the beautiful paintings as you wait in the waiting line.Waiting lines can get pretty big, as the elevator can only take dozen of people up and they try to limit the people up in order to let people enjoy still.Once arrived at the top, you will find magnificent 360 degrees view over beautiful San Francisco.

Great views. I grew up in the area and had never been to Coit Tower before! We went on a clear day and we could see the entire bay, and beyond. There was a guide on top who explained what we were seeing when we asked—super helpful. But the best part of the tower is downstairs—the WPA murals. Such a bounty of colors and depictions of life in the 30’s. There were bank robbers, and farm workers, policemen, industrial workers, just an amazing array of life in California. I spent more time studying the murals than I spent upstairs, and both were unforgettable experiences.

Coit Tower...Coit Tower...We have to go to Coit Tower... Even with the person you love most in the world repeating it over and over, you wont get it until youve actually been up in it and seen The City from it. Nothing matches the pristine panorama of the entirety of San Francisco like the view you can only get from Coit Tower. You may as well stop arguing and do it, you wont be disappointed, and much like the Grand Canyon, pictures dont provide the dimension to do it justice.

I’d seen the Coit tower from different parts of SF and it was on my list to walk from the Piers. There are multiple ways to reach Coit tower, public bus, cab, drive or walk. I walked along an array of beautiful houses which became more integrated with nature with increased elevation. The tower itself isn’t too impressive but the symbolism is. Ive lost count of the number of times I have been to this place. It is a nest of calm and serenity when no one is around. Ive spent many a late nights walking up the steep inclines to reach the tower and sit down to simply reminisce about happy memories. There is something about occupying the mind in the mundane like the undulation of the waves while letting thoughts flit back and forth in your mind. It is meditative and quite refreshing. HELLO what are you doing with the money? All visitors please be careful and just to let you know, we parked in front of Pier 39. We lost a lot of cash and passports.
