I have an excellent experience with this hotel! It has complete amenities, well-equipped, and the air conditioning was suitable. Also, the TV shows that I want to watch was on the channel. The comfort room was clean, and the water supply was enough. Even the food was good and delicious. I greatly loved my stay in their hotel last month. Till next vacation!

We book a room here usually each year. Perfect location just off Union Square and easy access to great shopping both extreme high end clothes and jewelry but also budget items in small stores next door to glitz and glamour. Chinatown Gate is two blocks away for a whole day of fob items of all styles and cultures in a 10 block area. Find a bargain or endure a long sales pitch by store owners who always say they are going out of business. Rarely do they leave.. Chinese food can be authentic but usually upstairs off the main streets. Always watch for locals going upstairs and speaking Mandarin. . I love the intrigue. Have FUN !!

Booked for a long weekend theater getaway. Was able to check in early and explore day of arrival. Location is great - a short block from union square, and the immediate area is pretty safe. Room was very large, modern and fresh. Bedding was top notch and very comfortable. Central room ac kept things comfy. Not as Uber-lux ostentatious as some of the big names, or quaint quirkiness of the nearby boutiques in older buildings, no staff drama... just a very nice , roomy and comfy home base for our stay.

Stayed here for 6 nights the last week of Feb for a business trip. Almost changed my reservation after reading some of the reviews but I am glad I did not. For context I stay in SF for a week or two every year for business and have stayed in many hotels in the area.Room was clean, good size, and quite. I was in room 1019 - it did not face the street so it was quite for a hotel room in the city. Bed was comfortable, air condition was great to have. Wifi was ok - not great but got the job done. Workout room was not impressive but it was enough - just wished it opened earlier than 6:30am. As others mentioned I was unable to check in until 3pm though that was not a big deal for me.I did not have a problem with the timeshare pressure many others have mentioned. Room was serviced each day. I will definately stay here again. On a side note - SF around Union Sq and Moscone continues to decline. Homelessness, begging, trash, human waste on the sidewalks, etc is out of control. Never saw any law enforcement my entire stay but was accosted almost daily as I walked through the city.

The Donatello was wonderful and we enjoyed our stay. Union square has it all. There was more bustle to the Downtown Atmosphere than we were expecting We felt safe to venture with our young daughters during the day. We dined at the on-site Italian Restaurant our first night and found the portion sizes to be disappointing in comparison to the price.

Rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and include a small refrigerator with a freezer compartment here at this hotel thats located near Union Square. A concierge is on duty during daytime hours, available to provide a plethora of good local options, as well as a serious pitch to sell you on joining the hotel loyalty program that sounds like a timeshare. If youre a country mouse, you probably wont like the fact that you can hear ambient traffic and other street noise, but thats what happens when you stay in a major city. Instead of complaining, enjoy the city views from your large windows.

The Donatello is a good property. Many of the units in the building are condos or timeshares and the elevators only take you to a portion of rooms that are converted for hotel use. The rooms are good size (especially by SF standards) and the bed was comfortable. The location is also good. I was a little taken back when at check-in I was asked if I was single, it just seemed like an odd question. The only negatives were the water pressure in the shower is pretty low and housekeeping knocks on your door even with the Do not disturb sign out. Apparently they want to clean anyway on your checkout day. They asked if they could clean and I said yes as soon as I check out (it was before noon). Overall a good stay though.

The Donatello was the perfect location for our weeks stay in San Francisco. Close to all modes of transportation, lots of restaurants and shopping nearby too! The room was pleasantly large with a comfortable king bed, sofa bed, bar area with sink and refrigerator (stocked with two plates, bowls, cups, cutlery and wine glasses), microwave and coffee maker. Only downside was that it was dark so had to have the lights on. As others stated you could easily hear the outside noises from the street but we eventually got used to it. After all this is downtown SF! A very nice feature of the hotel was the rooftop club house. Here you could access the gym, sauna and very small hot tub. Coffee, tea and water was always available. The indoor/outdoor sitting space was very nice. We often finished our day with a bottle of wine on the outdoor patio.Staff were always friendly with top notch service. We were on a timeshare exchange but didn’t feel pressured to go to a timeshare presentation at the nearby Canterbury. Warning it is a LOT longer than the 90 mins that they say it is. We were there from 8-12 and didn’t ask many questions. We received a free breakfast and $100 in select restaurant coupons. All in all we had an enjoyable stay at the Donatello.

The Donatello is a great option to stay at in San Francisco. I found a room on Airbnb and it was the cheapest, good option in the area. Heres why:1) Rooms: They are spacious and clean. The entire hotel is old, but not in a musty way. The cleaning crew came every day.2) Amenities: Theres a restaurant inside the hotel. On the very top floor is a gym, sauna, and hot tub. Theres also morning coffee, a lounge, and amazing rooftop with beautiful views of the city.3) Service: The staff were consistently helpful and friendly.4) Location: Its in the Financial District close to many great neighborhoods like Chinatown and Telegraph Hill.

Hotel was ok. Good location if you want to be in downtown. Negatives are as follows:1 - Upon check in we were directed straight to the concierge who tried to sell us a 90 minute talk the next day for a timeshare to Wyndham resorts. Not a great start. 2 - The parking. They don’t tell you that it is only valet parking available at approx. £50 per night (depending on the exchange rate). No self parking option is available. The issue isn’t necessarily the price, which is only £10 more than parking in the city) its the fact that they 1) don’t tell you before hand. I think the cost should be added to the room rate so it’s not a hidden charge, but then people may not stay because they’d be more expensive than other hotels. I felt duped. 3 - Tea and coffee are in the room in day 1, but they aren’t replenished during the stay. 4 - Our room was not made up and the sheets weren’t changed during our 3 night trip. As I say at the start, best thing is the hotels location if you want to be in downtown. It’s a 40 minute walk to pier 39, but it’s a safe easy walk.

When I complained they said they dont clean rooms after 3pm. When I told them I called at 2pm they gave me a blank look and said they would make the bed and give me towels. When I got back again. They had just tossed the blankets and pillows on the bed and left a pile of towels on the dresser. For $350 a night? Small things that kill! Never will stay at the Donatello again. Ive had better service at a motel 6. At least they clean the room for you. I recommend the Marriott. Same area. Much better hotel. My husband and I travel very often and when in San Francisco, we always choose a different neighborhood than previous visits. We chose The Donatello for its central location to shopping and the downtown area. We cannot rave enough about the hotel and the staff. The hotel room was extremely clean with a well-equipped kitchenette and was spacious enough to accommodate a large couch so the room was quite open and not claustrophobic. The staff ALWAYS greeted patrons with great smiles and genuine happiness. They were very attentive and responded immediately to any requests we made. While the hot tub area and work out areas were perhaps an after thought when refurbishing the hotel, the overwhelming positives of the hotel outweigh these minor inconveniences. That said, my husband and I will choose to stay at The Donatello during our next excursion to San Fran!

Nice hotel, downtown SF walking distance to many things if youre up to the hills. Beware the misinformation regarding parking. Although it is a Worldmark, this is NOT the club that offers parking discounts as per the website. Parking is a major expense due to real estate costs in town. Having your own vehicle is a disadvantage. Uber & buses plentiful. Hot tub holds about 4 people. No pool. Rooms are average WM but without full kitchen. Small fridge and Micro with sink. WM beds are always high quality! Small bath--pictured drawers are faux and not usable space.

The concierge Pam located adjacent to the check-in desk is really there to push you to attend the sales pitch for the Wyndham timeshares. This property is mainly available for exchange via RCI or Interval International, but as a timeshare unit, the obligatory sales pitch from the time share salesperson, checking in would have been very quick. I realize that the salesperson has a sales quota, but applying pressure to attend an orientation is not the right thing to do when the travellers have spent much time to get to this destination and may be in need to get to their rooms. They will not take a not interested at this point and continue the pitch when they must realize that their target will probably be a no-show or turn down any offer made.We will return to this hotel, but would be a lot happier if I could somehow bypass Pam at that timeshare sales desk .Give it a break , your aweful recommendations, are outdated, Do you even go out , or even live in San Francisco.

This is a great hotel. Its minutes from....everything in SF. The staff and amenities are great. This is our first time here as a part of the Wyndham family of properties. We asked for a handicap accessible room at thw last minute and they found us one, then sent the concierge running up to the room we had originally been assigned to fetch the welcome goodies they had left there for us. He came panting to the door with them, after offloading our luggage while we were checking in, and took off before I could tip him. The room is larger and much more comfortable than my first apartment. My wife can maneuver her mobility scooter around easily. She could do donuts in the bathroom (she didnt, but I tried it while she was napping). Valet parking only and its 30-45 bucks a day, but its not out of line for the area. We learned a valuable lesson when we went out to dinner, take a taxi or an Uber. We should have left the car like they suggested. Less than a mile away and we spent 1:45 minutes looking for a spot. Finally paid pirate rates at a garage as our reservation was passing. Anyway, this is a great hotel. You should try it.

BEWARE!!! Imagine you have part ownership in a place and one of the employees repeatedly disrespects you over the phone. What would you do? What if despite your fiduciary interest in the place you are powerless to address this person? Well, thats unfortunately the situation for my girlfriend and I when it comes to our interactions with Donny. You see, my girlfriend is a owner in the Wyndham Owners club. She used some points to book a room for Saturday night and then added an additional booking for the following night which, unfortunately, represented a separate booking since it was added after the fact. As shes an owner, naturally, The Donetello team solicited us both to attend their timeshare seminar on Sunday IN EXCHANGE for two days worth of free parking. We check out, and because the bookings were under two different reservations, the clerk applies the comp for only one day and subsequently, we receive a charge for the additional day after weve long departed the hotel. Okay, things happen. This is a reputable hotel so theyll course correct quickly and well be on our way, right? WRONG! My girlfriend calls to remedy the matter and gets Donny on the phone. He says hell look into it and get back to her. He doesnt return her call as promised. Whats worse is that every time she tries to call back, the phone rings indefinitely with no answer. A major hotel not answer their main line? Maybe once or twice, but she attempted several times over multiple days... After her last attempt, she says to me, I wonder if theyre screening calls and recognize my number. She has me call right immediately following... Donny answers in one ring. I try to work with Donny to remedy and he tells me that theres nothing he can do (with a very condescending tone of course). This matter can only be resolved by a supervisor or manager and they wont be back to the hotel until next week. Hmm, so no supervisor or manager for a week at a 4-star hotel? Odd, but okay. Whats more, Donny says that if I want a timely solution to the matter, I need to call back on Monday and ask to speak with manager, Tiffany. I asked why I would need to prompt the solve on this by calling on Monday. Why wouldnt Donny try to work the problem proactively. He said that if I wanted to wait until the matter was resolved after how ever long it would take to run its course, I would not need to call. However, if I wanted a timely resolution I would need to call and instigate the resolution with management. WOW! SERIOUSLY?! An affluent 4+ star hotel and part of the Wyndham brand no less? Why do I have to clean up their clerical error? Why dont they empathize with their customers enough to reassure and resolve? Why would you even let someone with a negative attitude be your main customer touch point? Why? WHY?

Great rooms, great staff all around. Experience was great except the timeshare seminar. That was horrible.it was enticing to get 30,000 points to be used at other hotels just for listening to the seminar but it ended up being a pressured sales pitch. During the breakfast it was difficult to enjoy the food provided as a sales person was at our table talking. This did not create a relaxing environment. And food was provided on paper plates!!! Not a good thing for such a beautiful hotel. Recommendations: allow all participants to enjoy breakfast, then at a certain time, gather all members into presentation area to hear sales pitch and then as a group, allow participants to see sample room at once. Then assign sales persons to a family to discuss farther. If a family is adamant about not participating, then end discussion and provide points as stated. In fact, I would not provide points to anyone not interested, give them a parting gift bag full of info on program and some discount sales booklet or something. Those who wish to go farther will get the points. And under no circumstances ask for anyones SSN!! When they are clearly not interested!!! The presenter was great, she gave a good presentation and made it fun, but she had to do this over and over again for each group. Not good. Do it once for everyone. The assigned salesman was clearly not too knowledgeable about the program. He kept bringing in seasoned salespersons to explain aspects. Recommend a new salesperson be not left alone. But, he was cordial at first but not versed on how to present info. Not good. This 5 star rating is based on the hotel itself and its staff and not the seminar which again was horrible!!

THE ONLY reason I mention this is to relate that each time we called Guest Services to request wash clothes, they were brought to us within minutes. Coffee and tea are provided on the Club Level between 6:30am-10:30pm. Each morning I would get coffee and chat with the Concierge. I regret that I failed to get her name because she was delightful - I know she was from the Philippines because she mentioned it during one of our morning talks. She gave great advice about what not to miss when visiting the city. If you stay at the Donatello, be sure to get her insights about things to do.I found out that the Donatello is a time share property and they let non-time share owners book rooms when there is space. If given an opportunity to stay at this great property, it is worth doing so. Do be alerted that you may offered the opportunity to hear a sales pitch regarding time share opportunities.

Had a great stay at the Donatello recently. Nice big cozy rooms with tall ceilings and the small kitchenette area with a microwave was a pleasant surprise. Comfy bed, a great relaxing jacuzzi area and exceptional service by a warm and friendly staff. My only complaint is that the windows in the room let in a LOT of noise. I could hear traffic, construction and conversations from passerbys from the street below, especially whenever a show would end in the nearby theater and the crowd would exit it would get quite noisy. Some thicker paned windows would be something id recommend the hotel look into in case of any future renovation. But other than that I had a great stay here :)
