I booked a weekend for my mans 45th birthday. We had never stayed here before, but seeing the photos and knowing what is around, I decided to treat him as a surprise.Everyone was very wonderful during our stay. The staff really go above and beyond. Although I had some troubles booking appointments at the spa for the weekend, which the hotel made up for, we did manage to squeeze in some Tee time on the resort court, as a part of our package.We stayed at the Seven which is an adult only floor at the Citadel end of the hotel, it has a lounge and your own personal concierges separate from the lobby/front desk. Snacks and drinks included. Happy Hour everyday with amazing food and drinks!The views all around the La Cantera Campus area were amazing. There is also an adult only area of the pool, that has its own bar and lounge, with cabanas and a hot tub, with an infinity edge pool over looking the golf course and hill country.There is a shuttle that opens early and runs late. They took us everywhere we wanted to go.We definitely plan on coming back as 3 days and 2 nights is not enough to do everything!

Service was excellent. Staff all wearing masks and kept everything filled with requests filled very fast.Good taste for the good but it was just above like warm which made everything a little more bland. Nothing was remarkable except the pumpkin soup which was great, even for someone like me who doesnt like pumpkin.The only thing that was disappointing was that the meats were dry and a little overcooked. Plated in such a spread out way allowed then to dry out oven more.Overall, we expected fantastic four such a great place and were disappointed that it just wasnt, especially for a holiday meal. Well give it another try sometime though.

Customer service is top notch. The staff is so friendly and inviting. I feel so at home yet like I traveled out of Texas. I love how its 10 minutes from where I live. I love it so much, I dont ever want to go home. Lol. Love all the amenities and like the secluded and beautiful ambience. Cant wait to come back for another getaway.

Visited and stayed here in September 2020. It was amidst the COVID safety operating rules, however, due to the time, the resort was not packed or too busy. Occupancy was about 50% and of which maby 2/3s was filled. I stayed at the Villas which is not in the central area and has its own pool area. The resort was nice and well kept and the service was great. The people are friendly and accommodating and the amenities were very good.

What a wonderful place to get away without going very far from Austin. 550 acres of roiling hills and relaxation. Hint:Stay on Seven!

Stayed there in August 2020. Safety protocols were in place. The Villas were amazing and service was exceptional!! I couldnt have asked for a better location for my birthday. Look forward to going back for my husbands birthday!

Things are so different in these COVID times. The check-in was quick and painless, the valet was supposed to send a link to my phone that I could use to have my car brought around whenever needed. I never got that link, had to wait awhile on my car every time we left the resort. We had a free breakfast voucher at Sweet Fire Kitchen and it was extremely disappointing. We both ordered eggs and toast, hers with bacon, mine with sausage. Eggs were warm but overcooked. The sausage and the bacon were cold and the toast was straight from the fridge or so it seemed. The breakfast potatoes were tasty but also, cold. Our day at the Palmer golf course was ideal. The staff were all pleasant and helpful and the course was in beautiful condition. All in all, the resort receives a 3.5 from me and the golf course gets a full 5 stars.The golf course experience at the Palmer was great. I would not recommend the Sweet Fire Kitchen.

We stayed here for our honeymoon recently and I was honestly underwhelmed by the experience. We stayed at Hotel Emma in August during the pandemic as well and the difference is very sad. We told them it was our honeymoon and there was no major excitement/extra customer service around it. Our bathtub wouldnt drain - I had to call maintenance about it and the rooms were very nice but there was nothing special about it. The pools are heated (somewhat) and the hot tubs are nice but the staff is not as attentive as I would hope. They took a very long time to bring us food after ordered at the pool because they couldnt find us - but we were in the same exact spot the whole time. The valet took a very long time to get our truck when we texted ahead of time (I understand they may be understaffed) but overall I was somewhat disappointed. The food, although overpriced, was very good at the Sweet Fire Grill & Signature. I did enjoy the spa (Loma de Vida) but this was all extra.Location was convenient..Overall I think Id rather go back to Hotel Emma...

I would have given this a five! The problem is valet smucked up my car and refused to take responsibility for it! The resort itself it absolutely wonderful! GREAT STAFF! I felt my daughter and I were treated with wonderful service.They need to find a new valet company because this one is completely unacceptable for the level of quality of this resort.When we return to visit Ill park my own car and stick with the resort only.

What a wonderful resort! La Cantera Resort resides in the beautiful hill country of San Antonio with multiple pools, wonderful dining selections, multiple poolside bars and interior bars. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and excellent condition carpets and very clean amenities. Valet parking is available, 24 Hour Cafe that will put Starbucks to shame... and an excellent gym. I really want to go again soon, never knew I would like San Antonio so much!

First time staying at the resort. Played golf multiple times here over 20 years ago and it was just as challenging as I remember. Want to give a huge shout out to Hector Guevara, bartender at Sweetfire Kitchen, he was on top of his game! Never let a drink get empty before getting us another one. Great people are hard to find, but La Cantera is a better place because of hard workers like Hector! Great job and I will be back. Exceptional experience!

A superb place for a leisurely weekend. Great poolsides & outdoor areas. Friendly staff. The golf course is on par for one of the best layouts and challenging for any serious golfer. Looking forward to returning next year.

LOVED THIS PLACE! They spa is top notch and the property is very well kept. The staff are excellent and extremely nice. The adult pool is great and there are plenty of swim areas for children.There is a self-park lot if you do not want to valet and they will shuttle you to and from your car.The shuttle will take you to La Cantera shops and to Signature restaurant. The room was clean and quiet. Gorgeous resort!

Nice and relaxing weekend getaway! The staff was very friendly and accommodating! This is the first resort we have stayed in the US and enjoyed it . We had several vacations cancelled due to COVID but we really needed a small mini vacay and this was it ! We lounged by the pool during the day. Had lunch poolside and then explored the shops in the evening! All the food and drinks were great inside the resort as well.

If it wasnt for the customer service by the restaurant and pool side workers this wouldve been a one star review. The front desk had told us that we could check in at 8 to enjoy the amenities however, upon arrival we were told we couldnt check in till 12. Following this when we did get our room we went to the pool and everything seemed good. That is until we went to our room to shower. We had to call maintenance because there was no hot water. Maintenance then told us that the hot and cold were flipped and there was nothing he could do. Spoke to management who treated the issue as a joke and simply said all they could do was switch us rooms and knock 50 bucks off. Considering this isnt some cheap motel I would assume there would be better customer service from a manager then this but obviously this place doesnt value guests. Ive had better treatment at smaller hotels and even motels then this place and would not recommend staying here. Choose somewhere else and dont accept this kind of treatment.

Perfect place to spend your weekends in San Antonio! This resort is awesome! There are kids pool, adult pool & hot tub. View from the adult pool is amazing especially during sunset. Pool side bar has good cocktails & food. Definitely come back here for another weekend getaway!

The resort is beautiful and feels like its miles into the hill country, but great shopping and dining are only minutes away. The spa was excellent and the dinner at Sweetwater, the restaurant at the resort, was delicious. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. My wife and I will definitely be back.

We spent last week at the villas here for our mini honeymoon and it couldnt have been better! We were so happy with everything, from the warm welcome when we arrived to all the accommodations and amenities. Even with COVID, the restaurants were open and it didnt feel like they were barely running. Couldnt be happier with our choice to stay at La Cantera, we look forward to returning!

This resort is amazing! The pools were so nice, the views were amazing, the hotel and rooms are very clean, the restaurants have great food, and there were plenty of activities. The whole property is breathtaking. We loved the close proximity to The Shops and Fiesta Texas (they offer shuttle services to these places as well) The hotel staff are all very professional and accommodating. We will definitely be back on our next vacation to San Antonio.

I have worked for La Cantera Resort and Spa for a while now. I work in the kitchen at Primero Cantina. I have also eaten at a few of the restaurants as well and the service is exceptional. Food is absolutely amazing and the staff strive to make your experience at the resort something you will never forget. I highly recommend this resort.

Basic rooms, nothing special and overpriced. I don’t recommend this place at all. We will not come back for sure.

Great hotel/resort/spa. They offer so many amenities and extras it is amazing. We are here during winter so not everything is open but they have 2 giant pools including an adult only pool. Also the views cannot be beaten and the staff is friend and very quick to assist with anything you need.

Great for weekend getaway. Service at hotel and adult pool was great. We got upgraded to the citadel suite which was gorgeous. Beautiful views at night. Easy shuttle to shopping. The breakfast is a bit pricey and service wasnt great but other than that highly recommend.

Very beautiful resort, but they are completely unorganized. We had a group of 10 for my fathers 60th and every single one of us has had to deal with problem after problem with incorrect billing. Everything from the poolside drinks ordered to the actual rooms themselves. Even after giving us free comps they still continued to make huge mistakes across the board. Im still getting random charges from the hotel a week later. They are claiming they are authorization charges, but why would I get new charges a week after leaving the hotel? They are willing to fix the problems, but its infuriating catching billing mistake after billing mistake. If you arent careful you could lose a TON of money. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BILLS HERE!!!

This place has everything! Great pool, stellar gym (better than the one I go to), incredible service, and just so relaxing! Its a great get away from life. So many different views to sit and enjoy. Cant wait to go back again!

We stayed here after our wedding last year and it was a lot of fun, so we decided to turn it into a tradition. Today we are here again, everybody is extremely helpfull and the ambiance is on point. Room is not the biggest but the tiny balcony adds a lot of character. Infinity pool is awesome and the Topaz employees are magical! They are everywhere and always ready to help!We will be back next year!

This place is amazing they know how to take care of you everyone is super nice and want to help you have a great time.food is great the adult pool is to die for the view and the sunset is for any honeymooners or romantics. The kids have an arcade and a pool with slides. Also if u are forced to leave about 2 miles up the road is 6 flags and the resort will drive you their and pick you up. It was an amazing place to take a solo birthday vacation. The food and drinks are a bit pricey so there was no overindulgence in the resort restaurants. The resort is owned by USAA, so as a member there are discounts available. I was not given this discount because I was not aware of it until after I booked and was told that you have to inform the resort at booking if you are a USAA member. The fact that the discount would not be applied when I was informed of such a discount and the price of drinks (especially at the pool) I could not rate higher than a 3.

Hands down my favorite spa in Texas.The location is gorgeously placed on the edge of the hill country. The therapists are extremely professional and are excellent at providing the ultimate relaxation treatment. The ambiance is very healing with natural elements strategically placed throughout the spa. I highly recommend the spa for those who are visiting San Antonio, or for a perfect weekend getaway.

Stayed here today for me and my wife 20 year anniversary married and it was awesome. We went to eat at sweetfire restaurant and food was amazing. To top it off the service was great and Joel our waiter was awesome and very kind in bringing my wife and I an anniversary cake. That made our experience even better. So thank you Joel and staff that took care of us on our stay here.

Stayed last weekend for a in town get away. Room is very elegant and upscale. Sorry for not posting pictures, I was too busy taking pictures outside, Serenity of the court yard, multilevel & multi shapes pools, And Grand Lobby. My room has a balcony to the court yard. I spent more time on balcony than in my room. The designer mixed fire and water very well, you will be impressed!!! The Sweet Fire restaurant staff’s service satisfies every respects of a dinning experience. Highly recommend this hotel. If you have a chance, book a night and you can experience all these yourself.

We had some concerns after our stay and called just to voice them. Ashley and Robert were both AMAZING! They both listened and empathized with us and truly made the lasting impression much better. We will be back! Special thanks to everyone there. 5 STARS!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at La Cantera. The pool areas are incredible, the food was fantastic, and service was really good. We went toward the end of January and was lucky enough to have sunny weather and temps in the 70s. I would recommend this resort to anyone thats looking for an opportunity to visit Texas. Also, I would suggest checking out the San Antonio river walk during your stay.

Beautiful resort and spa. The room was nothing special but the pools restaurants and bars are amazing. The landscaping is beautiful and all the staff is helpful and kind.

Looks great, but I came invited by someone. They had booked the room paid for it in advance for a birthday. Apon arrival we were asked to make a hundred dollar deposit for incedentals. For time It was easier for me to use my card since it was a deposit and would get it back. I had something come up left three hours later the birthday party went on without me . Week later never received my deposit back and was charged another 177.00. Im out 277.00. Turns out the card they used or the booking agent messed up. So instead of them dealing with the agency or the person that paid and stayed in the room they charged my card and kept deposit. Because it was easier to resolve I was told. . Two weeks later still no news. Management has basically said oh well. not a ton of money but I didnt authorize nor did I have it to just throw away.

Due to Coronavirus measures it was not near as enjoyable as before. Still had a good time. The outdoor courtyard seating seemed noisier than i remember. Its still a beautiful place.

Beautiful resort! Excellent service. I attended a wedding here May 4-6 2018. Pools were heated. Excellent brunch. Wish I would have had time to golf!

The staff was very helpful and friendly, with the exception of a waitress in the kids pool area. For some reason the lady wanted me to do her job and clean up after others by arranging the pool chairs. My suite’s bathroom had some issues, the door didn’t close and collected moisture throughout the day. The view and the pools are amazing. They do have bars by the pools but it remains peaceful and kid friendly throughout the night. They have outdoor movie screen and a nice balcony to seat and watch the fireworks at night that come from the Six Flags area. It was a relaxing getaway.

Itd be 5 star but we werent made aware G235 whatever restaurant was closed walked all the way to a closed building for nothing. App didnt let us know that restaurant was closed like Signature restaurant.

Id find another place. This place bills itself as Texas top resort. If so, then Texas needs to step up its game. This place is pretty badic as far as golf resorts and overpriced for how basic it is. 1st, whoever did the room layouts needs to go back to design school. You do not put a bed against a wall that has the only vent blowing on one side of the bed. 2) you dont put a writting desk on the side wall at the foot of the bed where someone in the middle of the night in a dark room can walk right into it. 3rd, the bathroom has no vent fan. 4) what resort still has a bathtub in the shower. Maybe motel 6. 5) No convince svop fir items someone forgets or needs like tums or asprin. 6) WAY overpriced for the style. 7) floor hallways are freezing while rooms are stuffy. 8) wont take cash at coffe bar.Etc etc etc.

The facility and property is beautiful. HOWEVER, there advertisement is deceiving. I booked based on all of the wonderful amenities offered on the hotel website...pools, workout facilities, arcade. When I checked out, I was charged an additional DAILY RESORT LEISURE FEE!!! When I questioned I was told this fee was for using the pools, workout facilities, arcade etc. Even if you DO NOT use the extra facilities you will be charged the additional fee. Very disappointed with this scam. BAD business practice.

They wanted me to wear a mask while facedown on a massage table. Laying on my lungs for an hour while wearing a mask and having someone apply pressure to my back limits my ability to take in oxygen, which allows for toxins to leave the body, and defeats the whole purpose of getting a massage. This is NOT Dr. approved.

Let me start by saying the resort is very nice and well kept. However the rooms are average quality and not so clean as stated on the signs in the room itself. I have pictures of the room entrance door full of greasy hand prints and the bathroom tile’s grout mostly yellow. There are only 3 restaurants and two bars. The restaurants are not always open so it will limit your choices for dinner or lunch.

So I want to give a 5 star but... we got stuck in an elevator and it wasnt pleasant, other than that it was a pretty awesome time.

What an amazing hotel?! Good food, great drinks and spectacular staff. I’m definitely living for the Texan culture. The hotel itself is beautiful and secluded. It was so clean, I walked face first into some sparkling clear glass door.

Very clean, very well maintained and located on top of large hilltop. Pools are beautiful with waitresses and waiters to get what ya need. In my opinion spa prices are a tad on the high side, although they do offer premium quality. The golf courses are impressive. The grounds are covered with beautiful flowers and trees. The walk if you choose not to valet park your car can be a bit of a trek if its booked up. There is also an arcade which can offer kids something to do if fowl weather presents a problem. I would recommend a stay here, you will surely enjoy yourself.

I stayed here last night and my car was broken into along with three other vehicles. My car window was busted and dents and scratches were left to the body to steal a radar detector. A tailgate and a grille were stolen off a pick up truck. The amount of time that it took to break into these vehicles there was no security provided by the resort notice any criminal activity. Also no security cameras. I was in the parking lot until 3am making a police report, talking to my insurance company, and waiting on a tow truck. No concern was shown by any employees or supervisor staff of the resort. I do not recommend anyone stay here if you own a nice vehicle. I did not enjoy my stay and definitely will not be returning.

Everything went great, the service and staff were very helpful, and the family loved the resort. The only reason Im giving it 4 stars was the valet experience. A polite young man was given the keys, and he suddenly turned into a GTA character and nearly ran my wife and kids over, and then blew a tire going over a ramp. He did get some really sick air on that jump tho, so Im changing my mind and going back to 5 stars. Only cost like $500 to repair all the damage and install a new horn.

The spa is the most fanciest spa Ive every been too. Private pools and locker rooms for separate genders. Pool outside, indoor lounge area, and smoothie bar with food. You can stay here basically all day. Its so relaxing and the staff is so sweet and helpful. Best experience ever.

Starting off horrible! Got here at our guaranteed checkin time of 4pm and they have allowed the guests before us to stay for late check out and they are still in the room! Management was rude and one lady told me to just be patient! So now they have us sitting in the waiting area because they can’t just kick out the other guests! It’s our room now so I’m pretty sure you can!The manager offered to let us do the same thing on our check out day! No thanks! We are not going to do that to the next set of guests coming in. So unprofessional and horrible service!

The waiter/server Daniel was really nice. The pool was a lil dirty and the bees where bad.

The perfect relaxing girls weekend! We never even left the resort! Be sure to spend a full day at the spa. We started the morning working out and did a class, then hit the juice bar, followed by a wonderful shower and sauna, steam room, then the pool. Then we enjoyed sipping delicious hot teas while waiting for our massage appointments. I loved all of the restaurants in the resort and driving our golf cart around. It was a beautiful place to just relax. We stayed in the villas which I would highly recommend! The villas staff is incredible and we loved the privacy.

I spent a relaxing week-long vacation with my boyfriend and I can honestly say that it was just everything I wanted. The weather was chilly back then (travelled in November) but we had a few days of nice weather and were able to enjoy their infinity pool. The views were just gorgeous and we got great pictures. Also, they have this restaurant called SweetFire Kitchen, which serves locally sourced and delicious food (a bit pricy but well worth it). Overall, I highly recommend this resort and the restaurant.

Golf course was in great shape and a challenge I will go again when possible.

Gorgeous resort... Were having our wedding here! Cant say enough great things about this place. If youre looking for a spot to host a wedding or function, la cantera is amazing. They dont surcharge for day of week or month of year. And the event coordinators there are super competent and helpful!

Everything about this resort is awesome. I love that its closed off from traffic once you enter the property. The staff made sure to accommodate me and my family. I loved the welcome cookies they put in our room the day we arrived. Theres many restaurants on site and they give you different cuisines. They even have a small market store you can order a quick breakfast or get other snacks. The pool are overlooks the Texas Hill Country. Theres a cute kids pool with two slides, a family pool and an adult area with its own jacuzzi. The resort has a gym, arcade, spa, events facility and golf course. The resort has a full list of events from happy hour to a magic show, movies on the lawn and more. If you want to get away and just unwind from the every day busy schedule, this is the place to do it. Oh, and the sunset and sunrise are spectacular.

I visit this resort annually for Christmas. To notch treatment. Always stay on the 7th floor and get free access to the spa. Highly recommend!

Positive: The location and it being high up in the hills. Liked the covid kits they passed out at the gate when we first entered. Negative: Self parking is a bit far to walk. The pool water where the slides were quite murky and dirty looking. At one point, there was poop on the side of the pool. They didnt seem to limit the number of people in the pool.

Amazing resort ! It is more on the expensive side so if you want to do a cheaper trip try going on a Monday or Tuesday when its less busy. Location is right in the middle of San Antonio close to sea world and six flags. The amenities are amazing! They have over 3 different resturants, a coffee place as well as a nice dine in restaurant and breakfast resturant. They have 3 pools one for adults, one for kids, and one for the general public. They even have a daycare ! The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and all have nice views. If youre looking for a get away trip without leaving Texas this is a perfect place.

Memo at Stonefire Grill was kind, attentive, and personable. We ate at Stonefire several times throughout our stay and happened to have him as our server every time and he truly made the experience memorable. Thank you, Memo!

The spa is greater than expected! Peaceful, relaxing and refreshing! The service is good! Just the room is not that much satisfying.
