Great park with some nice trails parking is decent and it has access most of the year. Can be crowded due to be being so close to reno

Galena Creek Recreation Area is located on Mount Rose Highway about six miles west of I-580/US 395 in southwest Reno. It ranges in elevation from about 6000 feet to about 9000 feet. It is a quiet and lightly used park with trails ranging from easy to moderate to strenuous. It is a gem.

Great backcountry skiing, especially when the traffic is crazy on Mt Rose Highway.
