My first experience at the museum was almost perfect. The art was exquisite and beautifully displayed. The layout of the museum is wonderful and it has attractions that cater to everyone. My only negative comment is regarding one particular employee. Most of the employees were very helpful and friendly, but one in particular followed my party and I uncomfortably close throughout our entire experience. At one point she was so close to me that I couldn’t even step back without bumping into her. While I understand that it is the employees job to watch the museum and make sure no one touches or disturbs the art, my party and I did nothing to warrant us being singled out and followed throughout our entire experience. She followed us through every floor and even followed us up onto the roof and watched us the entire time. If it were not for this one employee, I would have given a 5 star review. I encourage the museum to educated their employees on how to properly do their job without making viewers feel unwelcome or uncomfortable.

There was a very good selection of pieces that had much room for interpretation. My very artsy kids (15, 13, 11) and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were able to truly appreciate the art on display. I will likely return for a membership.

Me and my Wife were here by chance on the our way fro Lake Tahoe to Edmonton !!What a nice collection of art, great ambiance and way it has on four floors!!We really appreciate, the Front desk ladies whose grace in welcoming us in to museum touched our ️s!!! A perfect example of openness of US society!! thank You, ladies, for turning our evening in to life long remembrance in Reno!!It was 1st Thursday’s September, so we drank, danced and met so many nice people from Reno gentry! The unknown ( to me) singer was so nice and lovely!! I clicked a few snaps with her, got my Reno T autographed by her!!Lively orchestra was brilliant in their thump and dance inspiring presentation!!Thank you all, in Reno and NMA

Always enjoy coming here. I like the choice of art on display here. The themes are often related to environmental conservation and raising awareness about important issues related to caring for the natural environment. We got a tour from a docent this time and it definitely helped to put things into perspective. Dont miss this if you visit Reno.

A few spaces were closed for a new exhibitions but still a lot of great art here. Love the architecture and this would be a great place for an art class or unique meeting, they have a classroom and a few meeting room areas. Love the outdoor terrace! All the staff was polite and helpful and amenities are elegant and unobtrusive. Space feels well organized and efficient. It was dumping rain so I didnt linger in the outdoor sculpture but I love the outdoor plaza area

I visited this museum for the first time while in the area for a snow vacation. Its quite a nice museum. The Anne Brigman show was by far the most comprehensive one Ive seen of her work and was very well put together. I was impressed by how well it was done as Ive visited museums all over the would and this show rivaled any. The museum itself is not as big as others and therefore there isnt much space for much other work besides the main show. Good views of Reno and the mountains from the observation deck. The cafe was high end and very tasty but with commensurate prices. Live music in Cafe was very good too.Well worth a visit.

Add this cultural institution to your list of must do places in Reno, Nevada. On the edge of the dynamic and artistic Midtown neighborhood, the Nevada Museum of Art offers the beauty of permanent art, revolving exhibits, as well as sculpture outside, inside, and on the rooftop terrace. The bonus is the view of the mountains from the terrace as well as the thoughtfully curated museum store and the open floor plan cafe.

Overall, I was impressed with the Nevada Museum of Art. The museum is very well-maintained, the staff are very friendly, and the exhibits on display when I had visited in early May 2018 were more impressive than I thought. The museum consists of four floors, and there is a good variety of art. The front desk had recommended starting at the top floor and working my way down each floor until I hit the first floor. The top floor didnt have a whole lot to see, but its nice to be on the roof on a sunny and clear day. The bulk of the art is on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Most people would probably spend between 1 to 2 hours here. Although other museums might have a bigger number of art pieces, I still thought that the Nevada Museum of Art had quality pieces. General admission is $10. I did not get the chance to visit the cafe, but I overheard some generally good things about it (though, I cannot personally confirm). Id rate this at 4.5 stars. If your standard for museums are larger museums, then I think most people would rate this 4 stars. Otherwise, I think this museum is 5 stars. Because I fall somewhere in the middle, I give it 4.5 stars (but 4 stars on the Google rating scale since it doesnt do halves). I wouldnt necessarily consider the Nevada Museum of Art someplace to go out of your way for, but I think its certainly worth a visit if youre in that area. Even more so if you have an appreciation for art.

Definitely one of the less impressive art museums I’ve visited. The layout was fine, but there was no “direction,” if you will, through the museum. The art was random, and very little of it was striking. I had higher hopes for the state museum. Don’t get me wrong, my boyfriend and I enjoyed just walking around, observing, and reading. Like I said, it was just not impressive for me.

Great museum! There’s a very interesting Burning Man exhibition, with lots of information about its history and evolution, as well as a 20-minute film which basically sums up the exhibition. This museum is nice in that it offers a variety of art and is really fun to go to for special events they host. I like that they often have Nevada specific exhibits. One of the exhibits I saw last time was the Nuclear Landscape. I enjoyed that and how there were photographs that were beautiful, destructive, and tied to history all at the same time. It wasnt an exhibit that I thought would interest me, but in the end it drew me in. I like that about this museum. Theres always something for everyone and its easy to get pulled into art you normally might not look for. I also like the new rooftop area and the restaurant! I saw they do a happy hour at the restaurant too.

The Nevada Museum of Art was an interesting experience. The admission felt a bit high by the time i finished my tour. I will say that the entire place was immaculate beyond all else, even down to the restrooms. This place would pass any white glove inspection with flying colors. The top floor has a lookout deck area that over looks mid city which is pretty cool. The exhibits themselves were definitely artistic and fou but we d on every floor, but the entire place felt a bit empty. It didnt seem like there were many exhibits on display and a couple of the guards made my friend and me feel a bit uncomfortable with the way we were followed. But overall we had a pretty good time.
