My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience here on the evening dinner cruise of Portland. Our waitress Maddie was outstanding and super helpful with giving us ideas and suggestions on which drinks and dishes we wanted to try. The views from the front, back, and windows always had something to look at throughout the whole cruise. The food was good and the drinks were great, and strong! We will definitely be coming back to try the brunch cruise.

Everything about our experience was great! It started off with a nice reminder text with the location and boarding time. I thought it was really helpful. After arriving I was pleased to see they had their own parking lot! very convenient for downtown Portland. The staff greeted us right away and we waited as they took everyones photo before boarding the boat. Multiple members of the staff greeted us and chatted on our way down to boarding. After entering we were seated at a nice window seat and our server came over immediately with a snack tray and took our drink order. She came back promptly with our mimosas and explained how the menu worked. As it is usually buffet style but due to covid it was platted. We were able to order as much as we wanted and could order just bacon or just crab as well (which I did many times) the presentation of all of the food was great and the flavors were all really good, anytime we wanted more of anything it was very fast to come out. Mindy our server was on top of making sure our drinks were never empty and did an amazing job of checking in often. The bartender also walked over to fill our drinks as well and chatted with us. I was pretty excited and full before the boat even departed! As we took off from the dock they announced that we need to go back to the dock to pick up two late passengers, which I thought was actually pretty nice of them to turn around and go get them. No one else seemed to care either. As we cruised towards the Sellwood area we decided to get up and go check out the different areas of the boat. We went up on the top deck where it was nice to hear they were talking about a few of the sights and where we were. They had some nice seating on the top deck and we were able to snag a seat on their sectionals. It was a lucky day for us and it didnt rain and it wasnt to windy. After coming down from the top deck they had a cute platter of desserts ready for us! I loved having a little sample of everything. Overall I had a great time! I cant wait to come back to do it again!! From the food, staff and experience everything really exceeded my expectations.

Boring, was exhaustingly tense to locate and too long. Horrible set up for handicapped individuals, especially the stairs and ramp. Would rather have just stayed home, wish I had of. Also, main reason I went was to take pictures which with the internal light and reflection of the windows made it pointless. Thanks a lot... it was basically hell. You live, you learn.

Was so pleasantly surprised by the lunch cruise. Everyone was incredibly friendly, from the moment you walk on the ship, and went out of their way to be helpful, friendly, and professional. The food was surprisingly good--I had the steelhead with a mango salsa. Usually cruises are a bit too noisy and crowded for my son (and me); this one was neither. There is pleasant music playing in the background and the captain (Todd with the great voice:) relays some interesting historical and local details. I cant say enough about what a wonderful, enjoyable afternoon we all had. We are already making plans for a dinner cruise (just for the grownups this time). Thanks, Captain Todd and all the crew!

I booked a dinner cruise on the Sternwheeler for a birthday celebration for my daughter and daughter in law. I even paid quite a bit extra for a guaranteed window seat. Where we were sat was unacceptable. First of all, every table for 6 was a window seat so why did I have to pay extra??? And only half of our table was at a window...the other have was not. The boat was extremely run down and shabby and we were sat upstairs where the decor is extremely outdated. I will say our waiter was kind but we waited a while to be attended. I spent WAY too much money for what we got and am requesting a refund for the portion I was charged for the guaranteed window seat. The food was decent, but the only dessert included in cheesecake. If you want anything else, youll pay $7. A glass of cheap wine was $10....definitely not worth the cost. At least the Gorge is always beautiful!

My hubby and I have celebrated anniversaries & birthdays on the Portland spirit. They always make it a very awesome & special experience. The evening tour on the Spirit, going down and back up the Willamette, and going under all of our beautiful bridges, which youd never see otherwise. It is really magical, BUT esp in the evenings. (Bring your coats, even in the summer.) Its absolutely astounding. For one trip, we did the Columbia Gorge dinner on the steernwheeler, in its self is something else also. The views up and down each river, are well worth the money and the memories. They take pictures, at an additional cost you can get copies, of course. I think its kind of neat, its the little things. Personally. The food is always.. well everytime -weve- been, is extraordinary. Even the salad, seriously though!! Its top notch and well worth it. Every penny.Live amazing pianist & great staff (for most part, seems like some were bent out of shape for having to work Christmas eve, idk but I know our tip was worthwhile)

I booked a brunch cruise during our honeymoon and it was incredible! The food was great (served buffet style, lots of options), and the staff’s song about how they love to make a fuss was totally accurate. None of my beverages were empty for very long, no one seemed to be having a bad time, the piano player was amazing. If you’re on the fence about booking this because of price, just know that it’s an amazing value! What an experience!

Very over priced for what you receive. From others who have gone on the cruise to the reviews expect much much more. My husband and I booked the Cascade locks dinner cruise and wished we would have chosen a different cruise. The ship needs updating/ work along with an swift attitude adjustment for the staff. My husband and I are younger folks who worked hard to be able to enjoy fun outings such as this. We were absolutely uncomfortable from the moment we walked into the grill before even boarding the ship. The waitress didn’t seem thrilled to be aboard nor happy to answer any questions we had.The food was amazing tasting! The bread was delicious I will say BUT VERY SMALL PORTIONS FOR $150!! I understand we didn’t know what the heck the proper dinning edict is for a dinner cruise but when we were greeted and shown to our seats nothing was said and instead we were treated with snooty attitudes or two servers stood there wide eye staring at my husband instead. A simple “food is served roughly xx mins apart would have been really nice to know. We had gone to explore the upper decks and enjoy the views between the courses and each time we wondered back to the lower deck to find our food just sitting cold waiting for us. To summarize it up save your money and just do the site seeing tour instead (which runs at the same time.)

Nice diversion from the usual grind and a leisurely way to enjoy the Portland riverfront. The crew was extremely nice and welcoming as we boarded, though one was rude and dour as we waited to disembark. She seemed to be frustrated at dealing with an elderly passenger in a wheelchair, which is a pretty good indicator that you need to find another line of work. We didn’t eat on board but the food looked passable and there’s a bar for whose who are inclined. Get there early if sitting outside on the upper deck is important to you, as the seating there is extremely limited.

We did the NYE cruise and it was terrible. We showed up at 930 (this was when they told us to show up) and had to wait in a super long line outside in the rain to go through security to go on the boat. Then, once on the boat, it turns out the hostess gave our reservation away to someone else. We got taken all around the boat by a very lost waiter because there wasnt a place for us since they had given our table away. We finally got seated at a cramped table. It was freezing cold on the boat. We were promised appetizers, including a seafood platter. By the time we were seated, the food was dwindled down and we never saw a seafood platter. Do not recommend.

Ive taken the dinner cruise twice and both times were lovely. The food was excellent and filling. Its a very peaceful way to see part of the city and connect with the company youre in. No media. My first cruise on the Portland Spirit had a pianist on a grand piano, and the second on the Willamette Star I believe was the same talented woman playing keyboard and occasionally accompanying the serving staff who would serenade us. Very entertaining and enjoyable. Room for improvement: the bathroom on the Willamette Star had a horribly strong odor of ammonia from urine that had clearly been there some time. Also this being a rather expensive cruise I would like to be given an option for dessert. I dont eat dairy and if we wanted anything other than cheesecake it cost an additional $7/person. The captain and crew mate were friendly and let my son have his picture taken with them.

I went for my in-laws 40th wedding anniversary. The waitress explained they were short staffed even though there were 6 front of house staff to maybe 35 people. Anyway the food was very basic, tasted like Marie calendar meals. So basically you are paying all that money for unenthused waitress singers and the boat itself. Which is a bummer because I would gladly pay $150 a person if the food was top notch. But it’s not. I saw a 70 year old man having to sneak up and grab his salad because we were all sat for more than 30 minutes before we even got our hard dry bread. I won’t ever recommend or do this again. It’s just another dying Portland tradition.

Weve been going to the 80s dance cruise for a few years now. This year, things were different. First of all, the security checkpoint was way overdone. They searched our bags and items 3 times over. Very unnecessary for a little boat cruise. The boat was supposed to depart at 11. It didnt leave until 11:30. Then, for some reason, it returned to the dock after about a half hour to let a couple of people off. Okay, perhaps there was an emergency. We went out again, but then they returned to the dock again after another half hour. What the heck? After that, they didnt go out again. In past years, they would cruise until 1, dock, and then let people dance for at least another half hour. This year, not only did they barely cruise the water, the security jerks came out, turned the lights on, and started screaming, okay, everyone out. Youd think they would have tried to make up for the late start or the lack of cruising! The people running the cruise this year are obviously not interested in customer service anymore and just want to move you in and out like cattle. Avoid this cruise! You will feel ripped off!

So we had our dinner with a wet table cloth. Ive wanted to go on the Portland Spirit my entire life (since I was 6 years old) because as a kid, Id see this little cruise ship on the waterfront and thought it was so romantic. I am now 29 and my partner took me on the cruise as a birthday surprise. He blew it out of the water (pun unintended), by buying us tickets on the cruise. Dinner was delicious, but the whole experience was really what made this the best. The staff were all very classy and friendly, they gave us a free picture of us in front of the boat which is terribly cheesy and wonderful (cheesy in the BEST way for me), and the serving staff was absolutely fantastic. They took care of everything with flare and finess. Our specific server, Sarah G. was absolutely wonderful and definitely deserves a bonus. One of the staff sang What a Wonderful World for my birthday, which was delightful.Something I do wish was available with the price we paid for the event was some sort of complimentary wine or champagne. It was a little disappointing that not just one glass of house wine was available. That is something I suggest for the future, perhaps a house wine that is included in the price of the cruise.Altogether, it was more than I had hoped it would be with the staff, the picture, the food, the song just for me, and the beautiful evening. Thank you, Portland Spirit! I hope to ride again soon!Tiffany

So much fun! The whole family did a Cinnamon Bear cruise on the Portland Spirit and the kids had a blast. Grown ups had a wonderful time too sightseeing on the river. There was never a moment that the kids werent interacting with a storybook chracter. They got their photo taken with the Cinnamon Bear, a copy of the photo was included with no additional charge. Queen Melissa sang Christmas carols and read the Cinnamon Bear story. The kids got to meet the Crazy Quilt Dragon and parents were able to take their childs picture. There was a magic show with Presto the magician complete with magic rabbit, they took time after the show to meet with the kids and take pictures. The kids were even welcomed into the wheelhouse of the ship to be made honorary pirates by Captain Taffy. The entire staff was dressed for the event, there were fairies, elves, jack frost, wintergreen witch and candy buccaneers as well as the main cast of characters. I was so impressed with how invested the entire staff was in making sure the kids had a magical time. Towards the end of the 2 hour cruise all the characters gathered to meet with and sign autographs for the kids it was adorable. The food served was a nice continental breakfast, fresh fruit, delicious scones, cinnamon rolls, croissants, yogurt and granola. There was coffee, tea, orange juice, hot chocolate with or without marshmallows and water. The food was served buffet style on both decks and was included with the boarding price. The bar was open for business for any parents looking for holiday spirits. I glanced at the drink menu and mixed drinks were priced at $10, but no one in our party got a drink from the bar so I cant speak to the service. The bartender was dressed as a swash buckling pirate, which was a nice touch. The whole experience was wonderful for the kids and very interactive. I would highly recommend this for a family holiday activity.
