Awesome new park. AstroTurf ground with a hill the kids like to use pieces of cardboard to slide down on. So if you have a box bring it with you. Theres also a sandbox that was my sons favorite. We will definitely be going again and recommending this park to others. It also has a skate park & very close to WinCo if u need a drink or snack

Gateway Discovery is one of my favorite parks! Its accessible which makes my job super fun and simple! I work with individuals who have developmental and physical disabilities, and they love spending time here!Everyone loves the sensory items like the chimes and xylophone.Everything is accessible, the main building offers free wifi, there are staff on site, the park is ginormous, and they also have board games!

It started out as a sweet little park, and pretty much is during the day. One of the “selling points” to the neighborhood was that there would be NO homeless allowed to camp on the surrounding streets. Someone dropped that ball. The old saying of “nothing good happens after dark” would also apply here. Opened til midnight? To what end? In the days in which we live, maybe this could be looked at again. No adults. No rangers. Little police patrol. And now four kids being shot. C’mon folks. A little common sense goes a long way!Day time? Yes, absolutely! After sunset.....not so much.

Real nice park with loads of fun things for the kids to do and real nice soft sand in the sand box. At the moment they seem to be doing construction on the park so the swings arent accessible. The only downside is theres loads of people camped out on the side of the park with lots of garbage.

Very good park. My 6 year old and 3 year old love this park. So much things to do. And so clean. Every Saturday they have some awesome activities for kiddos, like last Saturday before school started they had kiddos make bracelets. Just wish they didnt have sand area. That belongs at ocean... just my thought.

One of my neices favorite parks, sand box, a slide, swings, climbing structures and a big turf hill that kids love to slide down on. Bring cardboard for them to slide down the hill, but if youre doing that make sure to wait at the bottom to catch your kid just in case because i have seen some slide onto the cement.

Looks like a really fun park. Great sand area for the kids with water. A lot of different activities there with slides, swing, and other fun things for kids. A great fountain area for the kids to play in. On hot days there is not a lot of shade so that would be the only drawback for me. It looked like there were large kids games there also but Im not sure if that is for a specific event or not. Seemed like there was a lot of on street parking.

This is one of my favorite parks to take ALL my kids ages 6 to 14 (34 if you include me.) This park is cleverly designed with exploration in mind. The layout of the playground and the bright vibrant colors create an easy and interesting transition between each activity and play structure Skatepark and large field for use. Activities during certain hours of the week as well by community volunteers. This park is amazing.

Gateway Discovery Park is one of Portlands new playground/community space that included a water area, skateboarding attraction, large open grassy spaces, sandpit for creative play, public restrooms, and so much more! It even has workout equipment! It offers something for everyone, for all abilities and ages. Weve been here during the day and at night. During the day, it can get busy and with it being a new park, the tress are still small with little shade but in 5 to 10 years, it will be full of wonderful shady spots. The lighting at night is good for a public park. You can see across the park, from any end. One of the highlights for the kiddos is the AstroTurf hill, they enjoy sliding down on cardboard so bring your Costco box and be ready to watch them slide down with glee. During the day, in the summer at least, they have activities such as a huge chess set & a connect four. They also have a piano to play on.One of my favorite features at all the newer PDX parks are the xylophones. As someone who does not know how to play any instruments, I can still create something beautiful with the percussions.

Stop creating events where you have to shut down the streets. People live in that area. What if emergency vehicles need to get into that area. Your slowing them down by turning something beautiful into some sort of corporate hipster cash cow event. I didnt need anyone to drive me to the park when I was a kid. I walked there myself. Today there were cars parked all around the park for many surrounding blocks. What happened to going to the park in your own neighborhood??? If your own park sucks then maybe it needs some remodeling. Stop the gentrification. Dont turn this into some sort of amusement park. Its just a park. I was trying to pick up my disabled friend who lives across the street from the park and I had to drive through a parade of kids and bicycles. No other way to get to my friend and I was treated like some kind of monster. Your going to become hated by the locals if you continue events like this. Or maybe someone may just decide to drive over all the people in an extremely provoked road rage.
