Towering, majestic elms for several city blocks separating the Pearl from Old Town. Bench sitting and lane-strolling happen organically here. There is a new playground and art work scattered across the park from an elephant on one end and giant lettering on the other, and a dog dish somewhere in between.

Went here all summer with my 2 yr old. Tried to like it. The playground itself is great, but I wish the entrances were gated (shes a runner). Every single time we were here the park was surrounded by hard drug users and drinkers which just does not pair well with children playing. Lots of aggressive screamers passing by and cussing. The last time we went, there were several adults hanging out/drinking in the playground with no kids. That was enough for me. I dont plan on returning. So, the park blocks are beautiful and green, but do NOT sit on grass or even the benches. Watch out for poop, pee, puke and needles. There is a toilet, but do NOT use it. I see what goes on here every day. Its pretty but dont touch.

Actually a really pretty section of parks in the midst of downtown Portland. While like most of Portland there is a decent presence of homeless people it remains a pretty clean and quiet park scene...at least when I was there on a Sunday afternoon in May.

I walk through here to & from work every week day. I often stop & sit when my boyfriend meets me after work sometimes. We enjoy the cover of greenery from the trees, people-watching, petting the dogs that owners often walk by with. Always an afternoon basketball game or two going on, respectfully played by young guys just having a good time. Often, there are people stretched out on blankets on the center sections of grass, reading, snoozing, talking. Its just a calm & peaceful spot in the middle of a busy area of the city. Sometimes, there are gatherings of social issue groups, or tables set up offering various things, like Voters registration, or environmental causes. I love the quiet vibe & the fact that no one approaches anyone with their hand out asking for money or cigarettes, like most places around Portland. There are some rough-looking individuals & homeless people here though, but they appear to be socializing with other ones like them, or sleeping at this spot.

Its a park... small by my standards for manicured parks (Im used to parks that span miles) but a little big by portlands standards. Its got a beautiful elephant statue, a sports area, a fenced-in playground, and lots of lawn. It is downtown very near most of portlands homeless services so as we have a homeless crisis you will see a lot of Indigent individuals enjoying the park.

Well, its got grass in some spots. It has some benches and some smelly people sleeping on those benches, but sometimes there are people sleeping there who dont smell that bad. Its a nice place to jog, if you dont stop running. I sat on a bench and ate some chips, it was fine. The benches are wooden and sturdy. It has some trees and shade.

Review №80

Use to be great but I wouldnt take my kids to play there even at the swings and play toys. All the drinking alchohal, the selling of pills and heroine, meth, crack, kinda kills the ombiance of it actually being a park. Park rangers have done nothing to curb this but they hang out where its nice and regulated because there to scared to actually do there job. The park blocks on that side are now home to some of the worst prediters. I have watched this happen over the last 3 yrs and its a wonder where our taxes really go

Da
Review №81

I give it 4 stars not because it is the greatest park by any means, but it represents a lot of hard work and dedication that is put forth by our city workers and volunteers to maintain parks like this one. I have been here many times and it is well kept and also used for events. I think it is awesome that even in the heart of Portland which can be a rough place at times to see that our parks still remain one of the greatest things not only here but in all of Portland.
