Such an incredible tour! We had family in town and this really couldn’t have been a better Alaskan experience for all. I loved that we were able to bring our 2yr old and 4yr old with us. They had a blast. I thought the bumps may have been too much for them but both were instead lulled to sleep. Matti was incredible at getting us the best rate and keeping us informed. We even had a last minute rescheduling that they were more than happy to accommodate. Best experience ever! Recommend to all!!

Our family had an amazing day with Dan at Alaska Backcountry Adventures. We rode in rough terrain, sand dunes, flat land and through streams. Our kids are 14, 12 and 10 and they thought it was so much fun. It was a perfect day, great ride and we saw Alaska in a whole new way. We would TOTALLY do it again and would recommend it to everyone. They only thing we might do differently is wed go on the all day tour to the glacier.

This trip was AMAZING! We had so much fun, an awesome guide (Mike), and the views were incredible. They take great care of their ATVs and even better care of customers. Next time we are here, we will definitely be booking another trip! Thanks y’all!

I can not recommend Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours highly enough! We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Knik Glacier. From the moment I called to book our excursion to the moment we walked out of the door at the end of our trip, we were met with smiling, friendly faces and people eager to make our trip the best it could be. This family loves Alaska and it shows! I recommend that everyone visiting this amazing state takes this tour. You can’t beat riding up to a glacier on an ATV and eating a deliciously prepared hot lunch before heading back. Phenomenal!

Excellent trip! Views were great! My 10yr old loved it. Best part of his Alaska vacation! Greg (guide) was great as well. Very personable and easy to get Along with. Highly recommend. Not so much an “adrenaline or adventure” tour, more of a sightseeing tour, but still lots of fun!!

Our teenagers are typical teens and hard to impress. Having said that, after our tour today my daugher told me this is the most fun Ive had in my entire life and my son said its more beautiful here than I ever imagined. If that doesnt convince you to book a tour, nothing will! We had a blast with our guide, Dan. He was very knowledgeable about the area and had an answer for every question we threw his way. It was truly a once in a lifetime trip!

Terrific experience! My brother and I did the full day ATV tour to Knik Glacier. The staff is so friendly and informative. The ride out to the glacier was incredible and our guide was knowledgeable and fun. We drove through the river bed, river, mud, etc. We had people of all ages and skill levels in our group. ABA provided hot lunch and snacks for everyone and we had plenty of time at the glacier to explore and take pictures. The price was reasonable given that it was an all day experience!

Dan and Maddie were excellent! We had an ATV experience booked with a competitor company and he canceled on us the evening before we were supposed to to go. We were only in Anchorage for a few days, so we frantically called Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours and they made accommodations for us to go on their tour that very next day!Our guide, Brian, was experienced, professional, and funny! When we arrived at the glacier, they cooked us a homemade meal over a fire that was so delicious! He pointed out wildlife & explained the science behind the glacial valley. You can tell he loves his job hundred percent!Dan and Maddie have an excellent company and I would recommend them to everyone. It was the perfect experience! (And of course the scenery was out of this world!)

Every moment of this tour was absolutely amazing! If youre on the fence between a full or half day, I strongly recommend going for the full. Dan was so personable and made sure everything went smoothly and safely. From splashing through mud puddles, climbing steep slopes, and racing along dunes, I was absolutely amazed the whole time!

We had a fantastic time. Guide was very knowledgeable and made sure we knew how to use equipment safety. Gave clear directions to help us navigate through spectacular scenery. Would highly recommend adding the full day trip to a must -do list while visiting Alaska or even for locals looking for a 4-wheeler adventure.

Awesome experience! The trail riding was thrilling and allowed us to experience a variety of Alaska’s landscapes, rather than just viewing them. Lunch was served hot and delicious. We felt perfectly safe, and cared for on our tour.

Our group had a fantastic time on a half day ATV tour with Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours! They were super accommodating to experienced and new ATV riders, built in lots of breaks, and were super thorough in explaining how to safely enjoy our day! They provided snacks and drinks at our turn around point and took lots and lots of photos of our adventure! Can not wait to return for a full day trek!

The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming from the start. They were very efficient on getting all of us fitted with all the gear they provided to keep us warm on a snowy day. The machines were well taken care of and comfortable. The ride itself was definitely great. They took us on trails through the woods and open areas near the frozen river. We stopped a few times to take in the amazing views and a few moose that were out. Again, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and teaching us some stuff about the landscape. The duration of the ride was perfect. Overall, I would 100% recommend this adventure with this company. We will definitely go again next time we visit. (It is a short and easy drive from Anchorage.

This was an AMAZING tour out through the back country of Alaska. A perfect mix of sight-seeing and fun with the ATV riding. Our guide was incredible, kept us safe and entertained for our 8 hour trip to the glacier and back. The entire operation was professional and friendly and made us feel comfortable on machines we’ve never been on before. Highly recommend for anyone... whether that be a visitor to Alaska or a long-time resident. Can’t do any better than this company for your trip!

We had the greatest time on this trip and will be going again when I come back with the rest of my family. The staff were extremely nice and professional. The ride was very thrilling, but safe also.

The BEST adventure in Alaska PERIOD. We stayed at their amazing cabins and did a 2 day ATV adventure to the Knik glacier on day 1 and then some mud holes and adventure riding on day 2. The cabins are SO NICE! Leather couches, Netflix on a big screen. Stocked with eggs, milk, and snacks in the amazing kitchen. Gas stoves. This place has it all. We seriously didn’t wanna leave!It was our 2nd year in a row doing it and we won’t miss a year for the rest of our lives!

We had a great time. They took care of everything, were professional, fun, and safe. We enjoyed every minute and will highly recommend them to anyone that will listen to us. If you are going, go with Alaska Backcountry.

I traveled to Alaska with 10 of my friends and the Alaska Backcountry Adventure took us on a full day excursion to the Knik Glacier. I grew up around ATV’s but I loved that our guide Dan taught us some things that were unique to this Alaskan adventure. He told us when to switch from 2 Low into 4 High so we could have the best possible time on the many different terrains. Thank you Dan for a great time!

Best experience ever! Got to see Alaska from such a great perspective, the ride was awesome even for someone who has a bunch of experience on quads, the tour guide knew exactly what he was doing and Maggie is one hell of a cook! You could do the same path 10 times and never get bored. Hope to be back again one day

Had an awesome ride to Knik Glacier. The views, scenery, wildlife and tour guide were fantastic. They even had a hot lunch next to the warm fire on the banks of the glacier. I have ridden alot of ATV rides and this one is right up there at the top of the list. Will be going on this one again hopefully.

The best tour around. We loved working with Dan and Maddie. Easy going and had a wonderful time. Could not ask for anything better. Took us out to the glacier and back through the forest and rivers. The three of us had a wonderful day with them. We would recommend booking with them any day and having a wonderful adventure.

My wife and I did the Knik Glacier ATV tour, our guide Aaron was great, he was very knowledgeable of the are. we had a blast ATVing through the mud holes, rivers, creeks and sand pits. We saw Dall Sheep, Moose and Eagles, the glacier was beautiful, at the glacier our guide cooked us a hot meal, that was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back.

This was an awesome tour! I have grown up riding ATVs, but this was totally new and super fun! The views on the ride to the glacier were great, the trail itself was challenging enough to keep you on your toes, with water crossings deep enough to get them wet. The ATVs were in great shape and appeared to be new this year, so no issues with them at all. We stopped enough on the ride for snacks and drinks and our guide (and owner) Dan, gave great info about the local terrain and wildlife (which we saw alot of). Once we reached the glacier the views were breathtaking, you almost have to see it in person to really appreciate it. While we took pictures and explored, Dan built a fire and warmed us up our lunch, which was very delicious, it was great to have something warm to eat. Overall it was a great tour and something I would consider a must do while in Alaska, there is really no better way to see the glacier.We also stayed at the cottages on the property. Super clean and nice! Comfortable beds and everything was new and up-to-date. I would definitely stay there again, as it is a great location to stay while visiting other areas of Alaska. The owners, Dan and Matti, were excellent hosts and their kids are super cute and fun. Only good things to say about the whole experience at Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours!! Thanks!

Absolutely an incredible experience!!!!! I can’t say that enough!Family owned business whose owners are passionate in what they do. Matti responded immediately to my email and she was friendly, helpful, and patient with my questions. Ben was our guide and he was energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area and the glacier.I did the Knik Glacier ATV Tour in August 2018. The tour groups are small and you never feel pressured to go faster than you want to go or do any obstacles you don’t feel comfortable doing. Once at the glacier we had time to explore while Ben cooked our hot lunch over the fire. On our return trip we took a different route back so we could experience other trails. Not once on the tour did I feel uncomfortable, nervous, or unsafe. They provide you with helmets and mud boots, but also offer rain jackets, rain pants, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, and dry packs. Depending on the time of year I would recommend leather gloves to keep your hands warm. I initially started with my neoprene gloves and twenty minutes in my hands were freezing. Luckily Ben had a spare set of gloves I could use.In the past I have only done 1-2 hour ATV tours and have been on trails that are flat. The Knik Glacier ATV Tour trails are more demanding than a flat road. I am putting this out there to inform people who have similar ATV experiences as me, because I was sore for days after this tour. Sore to the point where I had trouble walking down stairs. But it was absolutely worth it! I’ve decided that when I do this again, I think I would choose to drive the side by side ATV instead.

Oh my goodness, where to start!! This is an experience of a lifetime! The trip was so much fun! We saw an amazing glacier, mountain goats crossing right in front of us, and the crazy cool views that Alaska has to offer. Would recommend 10/10 times! You wont regret it!

My family and I booked this tour after many hours of research and we glad we did. It was one of the most exhilarating and fun filled things we have done in along time. The scenery is incredible. The ride to get to the glacier was a blast ! We got to walk on some pretty big icebergs, our kids had a blast.It was our first experience riding ATV and it was some much fun. Mattie , Dan, Brian and Abby we great. If you are going to book an ATV tour this is the one !! Thanks to Mattie and company for an adventure we will never forget !

Our whole family stayed at the Alaska Backcountry Cottages and it is was AMAZING! The cottage was super clean and I loved how it was decorated. The kitchen had a stove and full size fridge and was equipped with pans, dishes, and utensils- everything we needed to make our own meals with the food we brought!We live here in Palmer, but it was a perfect get-away to have some much needed family time!Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

Fantastic experience, great guides who made sure we were safe. Brilliant ride, with plenty of different types of conditions, glacial river beds, sandhills, muddy creeks through rainforest and the wonderful Knik Glacier.

Came to Alaska from Texas with my 18 year old nephew for his graduation present and this was the one thing he most wanted to do. Was a little skeptical at first due to the price and if it was going to be worth it. Was absolutely blown away with how this excursion turned out. My nephew enjoyed every second and I can say it was literally one of the most fun things I have ever done! We did an all day tour which I highly recommend. Brian, our guide, was a jack of all trades and went from guide, to photographer, to National Geographic knowledge specialist, to beckon of wisdom for my nephew. He was so fun and added to the trips enjoyment. The glacier was gorgeous and the wildlife was of course beautiful. You truly get to see Alaska up close and personal. Having hiked, horseback ride, and taken a Fjord cruise, this has been the highlight of the trip. Would do this again in a heartbeat and recommend this outfitter compared to the others having seen the other ones at one of our stops. Oh....and did I say the hot food meal at lunch was the yummiest surprise?!? Was soooo good! Stop reading and book your fun adventure with these guys now!!!

I had a great time on the all day tour the guide was professional and the ride was amazing!! They did a great job making everyone comfortable and it was fun for all experience groups.

We booked a last minute snow machine tour but Dan and Matti were very accommodating and helped us make it happen! They were very down to earth and easy to talk with. Our tour guide Mark was very experienced and knowledgeable on the area. He made the trip fun and exciting despite the -20 degree temperature. The hot cocoa half way through our tour was a great touch. We definitely plan on using their services again when we come back to the area!

We had such an amazing time! Even though it was cold and windy, we dressed warm and they gave us waterproof gear. We ate warm food and had hot chocolate and we were perfectly content! This experience was so much fun! Absolutely incredible! Loved being so close to the glacier and getting covered in mud! Very unique Alaskan Must Do. We’ll be back again!

I can’t say enough good things about our trip with Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours! Dan and our other guides were professional, safety conscious, and fun to ride with. All of their equipment was was in excellent shape and rode very well. Seeing the glacier that close was amazing! I have been riding most of my life and my wife is pretty inexperienced, this trip was so much fun for both of us.

Greg was an amazing guide for our ATV tour. He helped out our group of complete newbies enjoy our time out in the sun. We went over a wide mix of terrain including forests, streams, and silt plains during our three hour tour.The company provided us with dust and mud protection, but be prepared to get dirty. Lots of fun, military ITT rates available.

We a great business and beyond exceptional customer service. I booked a half day snowmobile tour and came down with the flu right before our scheduled tour. While their policy is no refunds with 30 days, Matti went out her way to try and reschedule us but with limited time we werent able to They provided a full refund anyway which I had not expected. This is what customer service is all about. Thanks so much for all you did and we will definitely be back next year but healthier this time.

Booked an all day Glacier tour for my son and I. U.N.B.E.L.I.E.V.A.B.L.E!! Matti is an angel and sent hot cocoa and lunch. Our guide Mike, USMC (ret) was an excellent guide and took time to stop along the trail and teach us things about the environment and the wildlife. The ATV ride was challenging and I never expected to ride through water crossings and climb the hills and the rocks across the flats, in the forest and along the edge of the glacier. When we finally stopped for lunch almost 3 hours later at the Glacier, he built a fire and prepared the lunch. My only complaint was there were no seconds! :-) They supply boots, rain suits, gloves, helmets and googles. If you expect to stay clean then this is the wrong tour for you! If you expect to have fun, be adventurous, and experience the beauty of God’s creation with the ones closest to you while creating a memory never to be forgotten then sign up now.In life we can use money to buy things that will eventually wear out or go out of style. This was money well spent to support locals while spending one on one time with my 17 year old son that will never be forgotten. Mattie and her husband Dan are excellent owners and the machines were super clean and well maintained! We can’t wait to go back again soon! Great Job Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours! Dan and Matti are awesome! Really glad my other plans fell through and I was able to book the day trip at the last minute. Dan knows the area perfectly, the machines are well maintained, the kids and dogs are all friendly and one of them is an terrific cook. I will definitely be going back the next trip to Anchorage.

Mattie and Dan were warm and friendly as soon as we walked in the door. They made us feel welcomed and safe throughout the whole tour. We had a heap of laughs and splashes through puddles, crossing the river and seeing the awesome Alaskan landscape. Can’t recommend this tour enough.

Dan and Matti are great people. As first time snow machiners, Dan did a great job of taking us on our first experience near Sheep Mountain. If you ever have an inclination to ride a snow machine in Alaska, take a trip with Alaska Backcountry Adventures.

You HAVE to do this! We had the best time and our guide was fantastic. They provided rain gear, helmets, gloves and rubber boots. It was about 45 miles round trip to the glacier and back. We stopped several times for pictures and breaks. Lunch at the glacier was great, our guide made a fire to heat it up and provided hot chocolate. If there is only one thing you do in Alaska, you have to do this!

I have been on both the ATV and Snowmachine tours. Dan and Matti are so friendly to work with and the gear and equipment is top notch! The guides are really fun to be with and they make you feel like family! There isnt a better way to see Alaska!GO DO IT!!

Very fun

We took the ATV adventure up to the Knik Glacier this past July. It was definitely the highlight of our Alaska vacation. The scenery is fabulous and so are the guides! After following a winding trail (with many water crossings) you arrive at the amazingly beautiful glacier. You get a chance to explore the area before enjoying a hot lunch. We were also able to view moose and mountain goats. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for some adventure and fun!

Cool ride, but $250 is a bit much for what I got. The views are amazing and the staff was very friendly and easy to talk to

We had great tour today. Our guide - Dan was very informative about the area and gave us a great tour ride.He helped us with the gear ,taught us symbols so we could stick together on the ride, he taught us how to operate the vehicles and he was very humble and patient.He was a great guide!
