The current building is the third constructed for Trinity Church, and was designed by Richard Upjohn in the Gothic Revival style. The first Trinity Church building was a single-story rectangular structure facing the Hudson River, which was constructed in 1698 and destroyed in the Great New York City Fire of 1776. The second Trinity Church was built facing Wall Street and was consecrated in 1790. The current church building was erected from 1839 to 1846 and was the tallest building in the United States until 1869, as well as the tallest in New York City until 1890

Its said that Wall Street has a river at one end and a graveyard at the other. Trinity Church is well worth inspecting, the graveyard contains the resting places of prominent people such as Alexander Hamilton, who died in a duel. The Church is quite beautiful. It is a congregation of the Episcopalian Church, which is part of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Trinity Church is also one of Manhattans largest landlords, making it immensely wealthy.

A great historic landmark not to miss while on a walking tour of the financial district in New York. We visited here on a cool morning and it wasnt crowded. The architecture of this beautiful building catches our eyes from far away. Grand from outside and grand from inside. Its really decorated and maintained very well. Such a peaceful place to be at amongst the hustle and bustle of the busy city of New York. We were here for about half an hour but someone can spend more time based on how much leisure they have. Would like to visit again and spend some more time there.

Beautiful garden cemetery to honor well known figures such as 4 of the Hamilton family and Hercules Mulligan, as well as many others among them. The interior of this church is gorgeous, with beautiful stained glass windows and awesome carved wood decor. Entrance to the church requires a security check and entrance isnt clearly marked so you might ask a passerby or employee. Construction around the church makes exploring more difficult and confusing.

I was a night school student at Pace College nearby in 1967. I had been going to college for over 7 years and found myself despairing of the progress I was making. I was to the point where I was depressed and thinking of giving up my dream. One day I decided to visit Trinity to find a place to contemplate my situation and it was a life altering decision. I had attended Catholic Churches but turned away from their teachings because they did not reach my soul.Anyway, when I went to Trinity Church I found a sense of calm and acceptance that I had never felt. I stayed there for an hour and when I left I felt a renewed spirit that guided me to continue to fight for my dream. I graduated from Pace and was able to live a life that has been fulfilling. Nothing has been perfect, as it is for most of us but that spark that I got from meditating at Trinity Church changed my. I never returned but the experience has been with me to this day.

Such a spectacularly beautiful church. There is a feeling of reverence here - for history and the spiritual. Construction was going on, and you can’t enter the graveyard, but you can still see Alexander Hamilton’s resting place along the south side of the church, from the sidewalk.

This is not only an amazing landmark in NYC but also a greatly active church! I was pleasantly surprised at how many groups, classes, and activities this church put together each week! I think the founding fathers buried here would be so proud of the current implant they are making. If you are looking for a bit of American History, this is an excellent start! Being the final resting place of Alexander Hamilton and his family, you can trace the true history of Hamilton and learn all about so many founding fathers pasts! So many neat stories in history here!

A beautiful, historic church that seems out of place surrounded by all of the neighboring buildings and skyscrapers. My daughter was excited to visit not just for it’s beautiful architecture but also for all of the major figures from our country’s history laid to rest on its grounds. This visit was something that we will always remember and hope to visit again some day.The staff on the ground were extremely friendly and very welcoming.

We took a one-day whirlwind tour of NYC and happened to walk by Trinity Church. In all honesty it was probably the best part of the day and we had not even planned on visiting. The history you can feel walking through the tombstones is beyond description and I regret not spending more time there.Note: as of July 2019 the interior is under renovations so only a small chapel is available to visit. Still really amazing!

This is an awesome church tucked in the middle of Town I just happened to stumble across this place and learn a little bit about its history and it was very interesting to know this place has also been in a couple of movies it also has a cemetery on both sides and even a few more plots tucked in around and under the church this is an amazing place you should see if youre in town and have a couple hours to kill there are some very well-known buried here this place goes way back it is very interesting to look at the Tombstones as many of them are from the 1700 and 1800 hundreds it is very easy to spend a good couple of hours or so here they do close at 6 and it is also free when I was here they were doing interior renovation so you could not go inside the church if Im ever back in town I would definitely stop here just to look at the inside and walk around in a few more times very interesting place enjoy yourself

This church and its graveyard is a venue piece of American history. Although it is surrounded by modern Manhattan it is easy to step back into the 18th century when you step into the cemetery. Probably the best thing about this church is its history. You can walk through the graveyard without a reservation. Some graves have name plaques next to them, since most are eroded. You can even visit the graves of well-known Hamilton characters. As for the church itself, its contrast against newer buildings in the background makes the church all the more beautiful. My favorite view was from the south side, with the World Trade Center behind it.
