Great spot for a picnic! I’m bummed because a lot of it was blocked off due to COVID but it was still pretty to walk, through. I’ll be sure to take my girlfriend here once it’s fully open. It seems like a really enjoyable, peaceful place.

We recently spent time in Central Park and enjoyed visiting the Shakespeare Garden along 79th Street Transverse, near the Belevedre Castle. This is a nicely landscaped garden, flowerbeds were lovely while a few of the trees in the area were also in bloom. There are several winding footpaths you can walk as well as a bench or two if you want to take a rest and enjoy the scene. Youll also see an interesting Swedish Cottage which is used as a Marionette Theatre as well. The Shakespeare Garden is a nice place to visit during visits to the Central Park.

One of my favorite places to visit in Central Park. Right next to the Shakespeare theater, beautiful flowers adorn this garden. Quotes from Shakespeares plays are through out. Must stop by for a stroll when in the park.

Great place to get married! We booked while we were in NY, didn’t even know that it was there and we live not far from Stratford upon Avon so definitely good story to tell but more importantly it was a fantastic location to get married.... in New York City..... in Central Park!

Another very beautiful garden within Central Park. The garden itself has wonderful wooden benches to rest on and enjoy the flowers. Great for photos. Throughout the garden that is said to include all the plants mentioned in Shakespeares plays, youll find small plaques with quotes from the play. Next to the garden is also the Swedish Theater, Marionette House where you can watch some excellent childrens stories brought to life...so make sure to take the little ones. Theres also the whispering bench higher up in the garden thats a little secluded. Whisper at one end while having someone else listen in on the other side

Shakespeare Garden is a colorful, flower-lush 4-acre spot in Central Park, on the western side of the park loop at 79 - 80 Sts. 20 blocks north of Columbus Circle. Its a lovely span of enclosed garden beds, walking paths, benches, lovingly stone stairways, and some isolation from the hubbub. Partly on a slope, the garden is adjacent to steps that in one direction lead to the unique pseudo-medieval Belvedere Castle (opened after long 2019 repair and renovation) and a fine view uptown, over Turtle Pond. In a slightly different route is Delacorte Theater, famous for its outdoor stage and amphitheater that has hosted many plays by, you may have guessed, William Shakespeare. (Delacorte, by the way, is a venture of the Public Theater in the East Village.) Take a brief walk from Shakespeare Garden to the front of the Delacorte to find two evocative statues dedicated to the works of the Bard: the namesakes of Romeo and Juliet, and Prospero and Miranda of The Tempest.
