Beautiful space located right across the street from Washington Square Park. Saw the movement Failure by Laura Peterson. Performance was really interesting and much different than I expected. Rebuilding and destroying society...look at the pics.

Judson is a cathedral of and for all people, black, white, brown, beige, yellow, cinnamon or any other color. Judson represents the rainbow. It is a sanctuary and a house; a place all can call home. I love it there.

Fanfreakingtastic. I attended the Ecstatic Dance held here once a month and can’t stop raving. What a great place for gathering spirituality.I even downloaded the event calendar in hopes that during 2019 I would attend more events than just the dance. This church offered a little bit of everything to a lot of everybody’s.What a way to go.

My wife and I visited several historical churches and cathedrals during our visit to NYC, and although this church is small, it is by far the most memorable of all the places we visited. The staff member who greeted us was amazing (wish I could remember his name!), and took the time to personally show us around and tell us about the churchs history as well as offer us interesting facts about the current state of the building and congregation. No other church we visited was so welcoming, and I would definitely recommend taking the time to see it if youre interested in historical buildings in NYC. Despite its simplicity, it has a rich history and present.

Great venue for arts, especially Movement Research, and as a space for organizations like XR, but the church is too churchy and also passively exclusionary. They say they are wholly inclusive but are not (I know this from experience). The arts program it runs itself are more mainstream than former programs like Judson Dance Theater. Movement Research is a separate entity that uses Judsons space. Once in a while something truly Avant-Garde will be presented, but not nearly as often as youd think.

I got to go to Judson church for the first time to experience a great dance/music/art installation. It is a place well known to harbor creative performance, and the space lends itself very well to such events. For performers, it must be difficult to balance the attention of people, because their eyes may wander to the surrounding architecture. I was also let down when I heard that the organ does not work. I would definitely recommend everyone to see at least one performance there because it is a great atmosphere.

The space itself is absolutely beautiful, and they are kind to let art/performance installations use what it has to offer. I attended a morning yoga/dance party here, and it was so uplifting to start my day dancing amidst such architecture.

I have been rather anti-religious and anti-churchy most of my life and this community turned my head and heart around. If you are curious try visiting Judson first Sunday of any month at 11 am for Agape - picnic tables, wine and cheese, hymns and show tunes interrupted by a very lively and moving piece by either Donna Schaper the senior minister or Micah the newly ordinated gay minister or an interesting ringer. Arts and Social Justice and Theology sit so well together at the picnic tables, you will question why they never shared meals together so well before.

This venue is in the heart of Washington Square. Not a great theater, seats are uncomfortable. It is theater in the round so you can miss action of the show is not staged well. Again, the shows are put on by various groups that rent the place, so check reviews.
