The reason you are there the works of art are brilliant and majestic. To be in the presence of such genius is down right inspiring and spiritual. Take your time and enjoy. The MET is the largest museum in the nation and is a place in New York that you cant just visit once.Theres always new exhibits here throughout the year, that are quite engaging I must say. I feel this is the one museum in the country that is sure to have something of interest for everyone, even if youre not someone into art or history. With the sheer number of exhibitions they have theres bound to be something of interest for you at some point here! Thats what makes this museum so impressive! Many people who live in and around the city will come by here just to relax, read a book, work on their laptop, so forth as its a nice place to take a break. Being along Central Park and on Fifth Avenue youre surrounded by a lot of other amazing spots as well.If you visit here, be prepared to do a lot of walking! This place is very massive! If youre someone who really likes to take in the art it may take you a couple of visits to see everything housed here.

This is definitely a NYC Icon!!! This is an amazing museum with something for everyone. This place is for the locals and tourists and everything in-between. This amazing space has everything you need. I don’t even know where to begin with this place. I say start with the Greeks and make your way to the Egyptians. The rooftop is not to be missed. It does have a rotating exhibit so come back again and again. The restaurants are closed so time yourself going in either after breakfast or after lunch. I highly highly recommend this place!

Wait until the pandemic to visit this museum. Or just really try and get early a.m reservations. Its mostly closed off, and youre just redirected to do circles. Youd think because you can make reservations the amount of people allowed into the museum would be controlled. Nope, it was just as packed and during the pandemic thats scary. One of my favorite places in NYC.Tip #1 if you are New York resident and have an ID to prove it you may pay any amount to enter the museum, you are not supposed to pay regular admission fee.Tip#2 if you are a tourist I would suggest to purchase a New York City pass. It used to cost about $100 a day and it covers almost all most popular tourist attractions in the City. This way you will visit more places and save your money. Passholders dont pay entering fee as long as this place is in partnership with City Pass Program.Tip#3 Met does have a cafeteria to have your meal if you become hungry. But it is super expensive. So here is 2 choices. Either to have some food with you and have a lunch at Central park or go somewhere else close to Met.Tip#4 Metropolitan museum is huge. 1 day to see it fully is something impossible. Even though I suggest to come there upon their opening to enjoy an art longer.

Its true - Ive lived in NYC for over 30 years and never once been to The Met. I know I give off an air of being cultured, but Im a philistine at heart.Anyway, finally made my way up there on a day off. If youre a NYC resident, you get in for free (or a suggested donation). You have to do it at the counter though, so you have to go through the awkward rigmarole if them asking how much you want to donate while not looking cheap. I just said $10 to get out of that situation.Anyway, the museum is gigantic, so youll get your moneys worth (okay, maybe not $25 worth). Lots of European paintings (at least one Van Gogh, one Picasso, and a bunch of others). Whoever decided to put the Monets next to the Manets sure has a sense of humor.Lots of other stuff to see too - the Asian wing is thoughtfully curated with Japanese, Chinese, and even a Korean section. There was a small 1800s photograph display when I went as well.A lot of Egyptian stuff too, as to be expected.A surprising amount of stained glass. And if youre into American art, theres a ton of that as well

One of the best places to just get lost in for a day in NYC. I spent 5-6 hours just wandering looking at all of the beautiful objects on display. I am not a huge fan of art museums (I prefer history and science museums generally) but something about the MET elevates it beyond most of what youd think of when it comes to art museums. A vast majority of the objects here blend history and art together, so youll get amazing sculptures from Ancient Egypt, or intricately carved suits of armor from the middle ages.My 9 year old Daughter was completely enthralled the entire time we were there, so that should tell you something.Truly a must see when visiting the Big Apple.

One of my all time favorite places in NYC to visit! This place is a NY institution and a must to visit as a tourist and local alike! You can spend hours and hours here, getting lost amongst the artworks, statues and paintings in the halls. The American Wing is absolutely stunning, as is the Temple of Dendur. The ticket process, check in, COVID check was very simple and quick. The museum was pretty much empty, giving you ample room and space to admire and enjoy the artwork, as well as to socially distance yourself from others. You can enjoy the museum at your own pace without having to worry about the pesky tourists in your view or being obnoxious (thank God tourists and out of state visitors have to pay! We New Yorkers pay as we wish!) I’m so happy they reopened! Make sure you check out the Cloisters as well, another beautiful gem in NYC!

The building is simply breathtaking, it’s history and architecture are totally captivating in and of themselves.. Their permanent collection is just full of amazing pieces of art.. My children loved the roof garden and the Last Knight exhibit.. We spent an entire day at the museum and never got bored or ran out of cool things to take in.. In fact we were rushing around trying to fit everything in.. Honestly we could spend an entire week exploring the many collections and exhibits, in fact we’ve already planned our return trip!! The staff is generally helpful and friendly, ready to answer your questions and guide you along.. There are Cafe and luncheonette options if you’re hungry.. The bathrooms are super clean and well maintained.. This museum is truly one of gems in this town and well worth the visit.. If you’re coming to the city from out of town, the Met is an absolute must see, and definitely one of NYC’s most important landmarks.. The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City, colloquially the Met, is the largest art museum in the United States. With 6,479,548 visitors to its three locations in 2019, it was the fourth most visited art museum in the world. Its permanent collection contains over two million works, divided among 17 curatorial departments. The main building at 1000 Fifth Avenue, along the Museum Mile on the eastern edge of Central Park in Manhattans Upper East Side, is by area one of the worlds largest art galleries. A much smaller second location, The Cloisters at Fort Tryon Park in Upper Manhattan, contains an extensive collection of art, architecture, and artifacts from medieval Europe. On March 18, 2016, the museum opened the Met Breuer museum along Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side; it extends the museums modern and contemporary art program.

This time around my daughter wanted to visit and I was more than happy to go.There is so much to The MET and you could easily spend a good part of the day viewing artwork, special collections and exhibitions. It does get crowded and the ticket que can be quite long during certain parts of the day. I believe you can purchase your tickets online which would be your best option. I have not done that for The MET but I can see how it would be beneficial. One thing about New York is that it is not short of culture. There are art museums and cultural exhibits everywhere in this city. If you are looking to visit one museum in New York due to time or interest, I would say go here- The MET. Well, the MoMA is good too but that is more modern art. Then after viewing The MET and if you are interested in other NY museums, just keep heading down Museum Mile. There are many museums and it actually took me a decade of several visits to complete the list of museums. With that said, nothing beats The MET for New York museums! Even if you are not familiar with art, there are artists that I am sure you have heard of that are displayed at The MET- Van Gough, Degas, Renoir, etc. It is well worth the time and visit to get some New York culture in!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the greatest museums in the world. Numerous collections of artwork collected all over the world, all well organized and certainly worth your time. A must-see when in New York. I loved it and highly recommend it. Dont miss it!

The best museum Ive ever been to. There were really helpful tour guides and even if you dont speak English there are plenty of people that will talk to you in whatever language you speak whether it be Spanish, Mandarin, French, Russian, Arabic, etc.I really recommend booking an emptymet tour on their website if you dont mind spending a pretty penny because you get to go on a quiet tour with an intimate group; it was a really special experience.I also recommend eating before you head in because you will spend hours looking at all the amazing things they have on display. From Ancient Egyptian temples and hieroglyphs, to impressionist art, to The American Revolution. You could spend a whole week there and it would be the equivalent of visiting 17 museums. And last but not least, their gift shop. They have books everywhere, tote bags, scarves, pins and more! There prices are a bit hefty, but if youre willing their stuff is made to last.I hope you have fun if you go!

Absolutely a five star review of this historical monument to classical art. There are so many pieces that not only I recognize, but, have such cultural significance worldwide. It is a must visit every time I go to Manhattan.

This is New York Citys most visited museum and attraction for good reason: it has over 50,000 years of art, culture, and history from around the world. The organization and presentation of these collections is truly second to none. Accessible to anyone, The Met is a source of inspiration, insight and understanding into ourselves and our surrounding world. You will learn, escape, play, dream, discover, and connect with the rest of humanity through the ages.Plan on spending a full day perusing the displays and artifacts and you could easily spend more than a day and still not see everything. The sheer breadth of collections from epochs, empires, and the everyday of human history contained in this museum is simply not possible to absorb in less than one full day and a second and third day will be more realistic. For members, you’ll enjoy a respite in the members only lounge that serves as a quiet upscale distraction to reflect and converse about the awe inspiring collections in your midst. If you’re a New York resident and have not visited then make this a priority for yourself. If you’re a visitor, then I implore you to make this museum a must see during your stay in NYC.

Magnificent museum which has artifacts from all significant periods in History. The building itself is a gem in the New York skyline. The little known garden terrace is also a great asset and worthy of a visit, but check for opening times as it closes at the end of October. The only fault, if any, is that the museum is too big, and can take more than a day to see all the contents. You will need a plan of what you want to see if you have a limit of time.Well worth a trip, and as the city funds the museum, the entrance donation is needed for the upkeep of such a prestigious attraction.

It’s just a wonderful museum to explore . As they’re different types and eras of artwork to observe. The staff were very nice and helpful especially when it came to directions as this museum is massively huge. The galleries/sections were very clean, well organized and presented. I’m glad to say that I will be coming back to visit and explore more of the beautiful artworks they have on display to the public.
