Went to a Frances Tavern architectural tour and ate at the restaurant on the first floor.Learning about the history/story of the building and the surrounding area prior to going inside on the upper museum floors gave a lot perspective and allowed for the imagination to recreate how it could have been looking through the windows. Also just gaining the knowledge of all the people who may/have walked through those doors and then eating at the tavern was a great experience. Lots of awes and feels. The food was good and the drinks are delicious. I recommend a whiskey flight for those of you who like to explore new whiskeys. They have an extensive collection and the bartenders know their stuff!
Went on the architectural tour then stayed to eat lunch and couldn’t have had a funner experience. The history of the tavern was quite interesting and it was a fun tour overall. The museum is also a lot bigger than I expected with a lot of historical relics I was surprised to see.The food and atmosphere in the tavern itself was great, and I loved the fact that they had some live jazz while we were there.A great treat for lovers of history if you’re in the area!
Wonderful museum!! $7 for adults which is very reasonable for NYC and for all the stuff you see. The collection is on several floors and its unbelievable all the things they have. This structure was built in 1719 (they just had their 300th birthday party 2 days ago!) LOTS of stuff on the Revolutionary War.
The food and drinks in the tavern were fantastic! Great museum upstairs too. The day I went there were actors portraying George Washington and Benjamin Tallmadge in the museum reenacting when George Washington invited his officers there to thank them at the end of the war. The actors did a very nice job.
Toured the muesum. Small bit interesting place
Will leave you speechless and a deep dive into freedom revolution
Noteworthy museum at a location now in its 300th year explores key turning points in revolutionary American History.
Its a neat little museum featuring some rare pieces of American history.
