Best money we spent in NYC. Love the hop on hop off tours. Second time weve visited here and second time weve purchased the CitySights tour package. Each tour guide was knowledgeable and fun! We would not have viewed and learned about the sights and history of this great city without this tour. The package price with attractions included are a huge value and allowed us to see so much more than if we had purchased individual entry tickets. So much to see and do and the guides were helpful ambassadors all the way. Fantastic!

The website has zero information about not operating the hop on hop off boat during the COVID pandemic. Some businesses are operating, just with restrictions, so with no update via website I bought a Groupon planning a day around this. I called them upon arrival to be told they are closed and they “thought there was a message on the website as of two weeks ago.” The website has nothing and instead has a discount for the boat. I am extremely frustrated in the poor communication via citysightsny. (And Groupon...) Waste of money and time.

Every tour we took from the bus through to the observation decks were absolutely stunning. The quality of the tour guides on the bus routes were of an extremely high standard and their knowledge and comedy kept us entertained. We were specifically told by the customer service person online, that the boat tour which was in the package, would include going under the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Unfortunately it was not the case. No explanation whatsoever. The weather was excellent so definitely it was not the cause.Regarding bus tours: make sure you do the night tour. Its spectacular.

My friend and I really enjoyed the 3 day pass on the open top buses. We were first timers in the city and had no idea how to navigate the city to see the landmarks we planned to visit. The only down side was the site still advertised a free pass to the 86th floor of the Empire State building. We stood in line and when we presented our passes we were told they were no longer part of the tour. We would have had to pay an extra $45. This was at the end of July 2019. We bought our passes online earlier in July prior to our trip.

Was in NYC on 2/15/20 when the feel like temperature was 25 degrees. Five of us purchased this bus ticket and could not have been more disappointed. Around 5pm we arrived at Battery Park designated pickup spot and joined many that had been waiting over 25 min for a bus to come. We thought, great, one should be coming soon! No. Now with the sun setting and the breeze picking up, we were cold after being out all day long. Next bus came at 5:35 and wasnt picking up passengers as they were full. Driver said he would call another bus. Another bus comes 18 minutes later, only to be full. They said they would call another bus. Buses stop running at six and we were very cold by now. Had to Uber. Totally sucked. With the electronic boarding system, they know how many people are out there. No excuse, yet each driver and tour guide tried to create excuses. UGH. Never again.

Our tour guide had an excellent knowledge base but the tour itself was a waste of 8 hours. You mostly spend the day riding around looking at buildings. Our boat experience was canceled due to weather (not their fault) but they did nothing to offer a refund or reschedule for that portion. Redemption of the Top of the Rock tickets was a nightmare (you exchange your pass at the end of the tour for an entry time). Top of the Rock staff were helpful and after some calls and talking with different people it was eventually straightened out. Walked the highline and rushed through 911.

The hop on, hop off thing was kind of unorganized and people were pretty feisty about it, but the staff handled it well. The thing I wasnt expecting was that they give you headphones and the actual tour is via recording. Thankfully I knew enough about NYC prior to know that the recording was about one stop behind the entirety of our ride. In between the recorded bits they played New York themed music, which was actually pretty fun!

Can you give 0 stars? So heres the thing, weve done these buses in Eastern Euorpe and they were awesome! NY seems to think they dont have to try hard with their tours I guess. So first of all, in the winter or in the rain, there are literally rivers of water running in between seats, even below deck. There are no heaters on the bus, so be prepared to freeze. Then they skip a bunch of stops and expect to get a tip by literally blocking you and following you to the door until you give them money. NYC... super nasty look and really rude staff... yikes kids.

Overall, it wasnt that bad but we did have a bad experience with timing for the busses as well as some staff members being rude to paying customers. We were told busses come around every 20 minutes, we waited at one stop for about an hour (50 minutes). When the driver showed up, the driver as well as guide were rude. When the doers opened, we waited a few seconds for people to come out, when we didnt see anybody come out we asked the driver if there were anybody exiting the bus. The driver (Winston) didnt say anything, so of course we thought that meant no. Mind you, multiple people asked the driver the same question (8 people in our group) and the driver never responded. As soon as a member of our group placed their foot on the step, he rudley stated people were getting off the bus and told us to wait. The guide (Dean) then came out to tell us people were exiting and that we all werent in an organized line to enter the bus. We were all pretty aggravated from waiting almost an hour in the cold, we even explained this to them. He asked us where we were headed and said you guys couldve just walked there, telling this to PAYING customers. Yes it was a few minutes walk, but the point was to experience and see the sights of New York on the bus. Really rude guys on this second bus we were on. The first tour bus we took was great! The guide and driver were both really friendly and knowledgeable!

Was excited to take my family on this tour that my wife and I had done before (nearly 10 years ago). My wife bought $500 worth of passes for the family for a 1 day trip. We bought the tickets online, while chatting with someone from CitySights via their website and were told specifically because we were buying online and directly through them, we only needed to go to any stop to activate and DID NOT need to active at the booth We got on our first stop with no problems, and off near battery park. After walking around a while we tried to get back on but our tickets would not scan. Despite having the receipt, which clearly showed the correct dates, number of passengers and proof of payment we were not allowed to get on the bus because our QR code would not scan. The driver directed us to the ticket agent, who directed us back to the driver, both were rude and wholly unconcerned with helping us correct this issue. The ticket agent literally shrugged in silence. We called customer service who confirmed we had bought tickets, were trying to use them on the right day, but directed us back to their office. The bus left with clearly enough space for our whole party. WOULD NEVER USE AGAIN AND WOULD ACTIVE DISCOURAGE OTHERS FROM DOING SO AS WELL. By far the worst sightseeing experience Ive ever had.

We purchased the 6 stops city pass. Used it at 2 things, the Empire state building and rode the bus from there to Battery Park.We rode the hop on, hop off bus and got off at stop #11 for Statue of Liberty. The bus driver a city sights employee said, our passes we purchased only include a ferry that goes around the Statue that it makes no stops! He said if we want a ferry that stops we would have to purchase an ticket in a different ferry. So we paid $125.00 and waited 2 hours for a ferry, and missed our carriage ride in Central Park that was 207.00 all because their own driver told us we had to use a different ferry if we wanted to stop! The $125.00 we paid to another vendor was also a scam, they said we would see 7 sites, and spend 20 minutes on the island. We did not, we made a complete circle around the Statue and never stopped. We rode the right bus and got off on the right stop and couldn’t see what we wanted to see! I am furious. We came here with my 84 year old grandma, and then to celebrate me being done with chemotherapy. And this ruined the entire day! When we got back to our hotel I read the pass information: “Walk the grounds at Liberty Island and see the statue up close. Visit Ellis Island, known as the ‘Island of Hope and Tears’, where you’ll learn about the nation’s rich immigrant history at what was once the busiest immigration station in the country.”I contacted citysights on 12/8 and requested a refund, their response was to tell me if I was confused on what was included I should of called. However, I was not confused as we did what their employee instructed us to do! Then I was told I would be given a refund for the services/attractions not used. We bought 4 at around 96 a piece, total of $384. If I do the math right I should have had a credit coming of $64.00 per pass purchased. I received a refund of $20.76! I have no idea how they came up with that. I have sent emails and called multiple times to figure this out and get it resolved. I just spent over 40 minutes on the phone with an agent and explained that the back office was too busy to speak with me and to try back later. Unbelievable!

The drivers and guides were great, and the bus was very convenient. My only issue was that I booked online and if you do that you don’t get a pamphlet showing the routes and stops. This makes it a little tricky to find a stop when you first want to get on. When I asked one of the men who were standing in the street handing out pamphlets to attract new customers if I could have one, he said that as I’d booked online I was on my own. He was rude and obnoxious about it. So the next time one of them tried to sell me a tour, instead of telling them I was already on it, I just played along until they gave me a pamphlet. But it seemed so ridiculous to have to do that.

This tour Was Very disappointing. To start with the 1st bus we got on had a bus driver that made fun of everyone that got off and on of the bus. Now you didnt know he was making fun of you because you plug your headphones in to hear everything he was saying, however he degraded and made fun of every passenger that we saw get on and off the bus. He also did the same thing with people standing on the side of the road so anyone that he could find he made fun of. Now at 1st it seemed like he was joking, But quickly you came to realize that he has low self esteem and this makes him feel better about himself. It was so bad that there was really no tour information that was given, ( He actually told us to Google any information we wanted about the site as we passed it) so we took off our headsets. At 1 point the bus was stopped, And he said we are stopping now, (per the guests Who still had headsets on) and we could see the world trade center, The people in front of us got up to get off at what we thought was the stop, There was no tour guide up top to tell us we were doing anything wrong, As we came down the stairs we heard him yell get off the stairs and then he purposely slammed on the brakes causing several of us to slip down the stairs. He then made us all lineup, about 8 of us, and chastised us in front of the rest of the passengers. He pulled about 50 forward , then stared us down one more time not allowing any of us to get off of the bus telling us he was the 1st to get off and we were to stand there until he chose to get off. As we got off I could hear him saying to the rest of the passengers that he was sorry for our actions. We then got on another bus Both the driver and the guy up top were very pleasant, When we got off the bus we asked them which way to go and they vaguely pointed in a direction to a Brown building there were 3 buildings, a whole group of us had no clue which way to go, and when we asked a second time, or anybody said anything else questioning it, he got mad and got on the bus leaving us stranded there not knowing which direction to go. several of us walked about a mile back to where the previous stop was just to get on the ferry . had we been given any information we would have got off at the stop prior. The kids at the ferry stop were the best part, Very kind and happy to answer any questions. The tour was so bad we chose not to get back on the bus and just called an Uber. When I called the company to complain nobody Seemed to care.

The overall experience was a disappointing one - we had a voucher to redeem which we realised had to be exchanged in the Port Authority Bus Station. The guide at the very frantic bus stop informed us of this - we headed there, which was around 4 blocks from the stop and waited in a long line to exchange the ticket. Went to the bus stop, waited just 5 minutes for the bus to arrive and then was told we couldn’t board as there wasn’t enough space (despite counting a number of empty rows on the bus). The most disappointing point was our tour guide, Rob. He was late boarding the bus and kept the whole group waiting whilst he used the bathroom, and mid-way through the tour stopped at a CVS to buy drinks! The tour narration was abysmal - he was either hating his job, drunk or has some significant personal issues - or a mixture of all these. He regularly lost energy to even speak, let alone entertain the group or provide worthwhile commentary. Most of us switched over to the prerecorded commentary instead or just took in the views. He openly said on a number of occasions that he isn’t a great guide - and this was pro-founded when two other much more lively Citysightseeing buses went past us. I mentioned this to the sidewalk supervisor at the end of our tour, but feel that this experience should be shared with management also so shared it via the company website - I had to chase for a response after a month and received a reply acknowledging the email had been received and already passed on. Overall a very disappointing experience given the popularity and size of the business.

The problems with this tour is the wait, inconvenience, lack of air, and idiocy. As many tourists would do, (I included) is book what they’re going to do next, tour buses etc. I look for a short while and eventually find it but, for this bus it comes every 30min hence the wait. The bus came and I was ready to get on but the bus driver was no where to be found, luckily one of the assistants opened the door for us. It took our driver 30mins to come back, I and lots of others was not happy with this since the driver left the bus off.

Do not buy this tour. False advertising. Windows blocked with film, seeing out was difficult. No heat on bus. Seats worn, dirty and Uncomfortable. 90 % of audio was looped music. Audio didnt match area driving through. Supposed to be 21 stops. We stopped at 2. Had to insist the driver finally stop to let us off to see Rockafeller Center which is an advertised stop.Driver said there was too much traffic to stop. Driver drove first half of tour without turning on any audio at all. Total rip off.

Very poor service, driver dropped off us a stop before the empire state building and we walked 5 blocks with wheel chair. Routes doesnt cover all stops and they told us to walk all the way from intrepid museum to timesquare to take bus

Every tour is different depending on guide, day, time of day, time of year, weather, etc. We were very fortunate to take the tour first thing Saturday morning, with fantastic guide Darius. Very informational, and entertaining. If its raining, you will have a tough time. It was raining the afternoon prior, and we couldnt even get on any bus. They were all packed with people trying to escape the weather. Plenty of open air seats in the rain though, if you want to poncho it.

We paid $69 which was supposed to be a discounted price. It was supposed to include one pre-paid attractions like biking in the park. No one on the tour, not the driver or tour guide, made any suggestions or offers to whether folks had paid for additional attractions. I feel this is a RIP off. You can find this same tour for $30 and it wasnt worth more than that.

I booked tickets with this company (2 months in advance) and the day of the event I went on live chat to confirm the meeting time and was told they didn’t do that tour anymore.. it was a ‘Statue by night’ cruise in NYC. If I hadn’t of got in touch with the company to ask what time we had to meet at the pier I would have gone and been waiting for a boat that would’ve never came! The support agent on live chat, Jara, told me she would open up a case and a manager would get back to me. That obviously never happened. I recieved a refund invoice via email only. I filed a complaint with the BBB and CitysightsNY responded stating that their T&C’s state that they can cancel their tours at any time without notice so it wasn’t their problem. This is the type of company you’ll be giving your money to if you use them. They sell tickets to tours without any guarantee then when cancelled they don’t inform the customers who had bought a ticket to that event with so much as an email. And then it’s up to you to chase them for your money back. Disgusting.Lucky for me I found the same cruise with another company for 50% less the price so on top of the above, you will almost certainly find cheaper elsewhere.

Great way to see the city when you only have a short time there. The downtown driver had lots of great history information about the city. The uptown driver mostly shared his opinions about the state of affairs. However, still a great ride and look see of a beautiful, historic city.

My experience in general was GREAT. Each of the tours cover a broad area of New York. Buses are well equipped in case of any harsh cold weather (That is GREAT). Some of your tour guides are AWESOME, some other are not so good, and some others are REALLY BAD at what they do.Timing is perfect for every stop, of course traffic, local events and other conditions (weather) may affect it.But in general it was GREAT. Thanks.

It was a good experience. We stayed on the bus from start to finish. The seats do become uncomfortable for long periods of time, and it was alright except for the cold weather. It’s a good idea to board at the starting point especially on weekends so you have seating space else you will probably have to wait until a bus comes along with enough space to seat you or your group. We did wait for a very long time for the reps to serve us though.. we needed to redeem our online coupons at the counter and although there were 3 people on the desk only one was working to serve customers. Bad experience there.
