A well-construced museum with excellent use of sound. Bring your own earphones so that you can use the self-guided service through the museums application. (If you rent their headphones, its going to cost $8.) The museums strength is moving visitors emotionally. So, please brace yourself before entering. You are bound to feel something for the victims. The current temporary exhibition is about rescue dogs during 9/11 and how they are doing now/back in 2011. The museum has its own cafe with small but tasty savory and sweet pastries. Lastly, dont miss the section where you can listen to other visitors feelings and thoughts as well as sharing your own.

When visiting the Big Apple this place is a must see. Yes you can visit the 9/11 Memorial Museum as well but the Tribute is much more personal and they have staff members who can talk and tell you their stories of them actually being there on that tragic day. It’s a very emotional and more personal museum. I cried and I cried. It was an awesome experience and talking to Guy Sanders who was an EMS volunteer on that day and listening to his stories was educational and powerful.

This museum was beautiful but honestly so sad. I was basically teary eyed the whole time. 9/11 was so tragic and to see the pictures, videos, left over structures, damaged cars, etc. was very emotional. Thousands of people lost their lives that day. My aunt had a family member witness the first plane crashing into the building. There is one room that doesn’t allow photography and it was definitely to show respect. Seeing videos of the planes crashing, pictures of people in the building already coming down, people injured, the smoke, the dust, the ashes. It was terrible. Overall, I do recommend this museum and a good way to learn about this day if you haven’t learned much about it yet. 9/11, never forget.

We visited the 9/11 Tribute Museum in October 2019 during our first trip to New York City, and it was easily one of the most memorable experiences of the trip. The Tribute Museum is largely run by survivors and family members of those affected by the 9/11 attacks, and offers visitors a somber reminder of how the events that day shaped the future of both NYC and our nation. There were a number of artifacts on display, as well as stories and memoirs from those directly and indirectly involved in the attacks. The museum is only half of the story however. The Tribute Museum also offers a walking tour of the 9/11 Memorial and surrounding area, led by one of the volunteers at the museum. In our case, we were led by Desirae, who was a survivor of the 9/11 attacks and worked in Two World Trade Center. She shared her story with us during the tour, and it was truly heartbreaking to hear how it affected her and those close to her. Desirae was lucky enough to escape Two World Trade Center minutes before the second plane struck, but many of her coworkers were not. As Desirae said, the 9/11 Tribute Museum truly showcases the heart and soul of the 9/11 events, and allows you to better understand the incident than simply visiting the 9/11 Memorial would by itself.Overall, I highly recommend you give this tour a chance! Its well worth the visit, and we felt very emotionally connected to the 9/11 tragedies afterwards.

What a beautiful museum and tribute to the victims. You can’t go to New York without visiting this place. As hard as it can be, it’s so important to remember this event and educate future generations about it. Make sure you allow at least 2 hours fully explore the whole place, it’s truly worth it.I will however say we were unfortunately a little disappointed with the guided tour. It felt very textbook and impersonal. There are so many people in the city who still remember that day so clearly, we would have liked to hear the story from one of them and not someone who had just studied the facts and repeated them.Would definitely return and reflect on everything again!

I visited in December 2019. This museum is well worth the time, ***note that it is not the 9/11 museum on the site, so it may be less crowded, and it seems like some of the Google reviews on here are for the Memorial Museum, not the Tribute Museum***. Only the tour (with a survivor/resident/first responder) is scheduled, the tour of the museum is self paced and when I went there was one line to buy and enter, and no waiting - (this museum is on Greenwich and Rector Street).I spent about an hour in the exhibit area, there were great displays and information on the events as well as the recovery and on.I also did the tour, which was an hour with a resident from Lower Manhattan (Elliott) and his information was very touching. He shared so much information and from a very personal perspective. He answered all of our questions and was a delightful guide, and assisted me afterwards on where to go in my limited time.We could not go to the site during the tour due to inclement weather, and had a comfortable space in the museum to partake in his stories, pictures and dialog. Well worth the time and money.

The museum is located right next to the memorial. Its at the wrong location on Google Maps. Even TripAdvisor got it right! I had a city pass and my admission to the museum was included in it. It was crowded during my visit and there was a wait. Once you head downstairs which is where the museum is, the entire tragic event will be mentioned with every possible detail that was known. They have preserved so many things related to this event. This place will make you start visualizing everything. This memorial and the museum will remind you how uncertain life is and, that you need to show as much as love you can to not just your loved ones but, to everyone around you. This is an activity that one should do while visiting NYC at least once.

As someone who barely remembers this tragic day, it was not only informative but emotionally moving. The museum is wonderfully crafted, architecturally and informatively. There are plenty of videos and audio clips of the event; those that witnessed it and news clips. When touring the inner room, I would suggest sticking to the timeline (especially if youre trying to stick to a schedule). There are many relics throughout the inner room, so it can be difficult to navigate but if you have the time, its worth reading. There are tissues throughout the museum in case you forgot some. Im very glad I visited and can promise you that it is worth going to. They offer student discounts too.

We chose to buy tickets AT the memorial. If you know when youll be there, save time & purchase tickets online. Once we got in, we had to go through metal detectors. Quick and easy. It was not quick and easy touring the museum. On 9/11/01, we watched the horror of 9/11 unfold. Eighteen years ago we were working in FL, and stopped working when the first plane hit. We revisited in this museum what happened before that horrific event. How each act of terrorism unfolded. How heroic men and women reacted that day & in the days following. Ay one point, I felt the goose flesh rising & fought back tears. It was happening again, but not as menacing as before. This museum is a work of art. A testament to bravery and hope. A tribute to American spirit. It stands to educate the young who only hear second hand about what happened or learn in school about the events that changed the way we live. It is depressing as well as uplifting. The museum is something we wanted and didn’t want to experience. After touring, we needed a bathroom break; husband was in and done. For me, a lady, it was waiting time. Again. Five must be the magic number. Like other attractions, only 5 bathroom stalls. It might not seem important, but after waiting in line (30 min.) & touring the museum (90 min.), you dont want to wait. Again. But I did. When we exited, we walked around the grounds. There is more to see and this trip to and around was well worth the effort and time.

A peaceful place, calming and also a place to reflect on what happened here, and why it happened. Makes me question humanity; how can we be as split up into different groups as we are? Salafism/Wahhabism truly are the enemies of mankind and it makes me sad that human beings can become such fanatics. I have friends from all over the world and many of them were brought up in religious cultures, different religions. Islamic fanaticism, however, is something we all distance ourselves from. Horrible mindset! The opposite of Christian values and culture, from where I myself stem.

Be prepared to shed a few tears yourself as you take the tour all the way down to the sub basement of the towers. The places is a good perspective of 9/11 from the memories and the histories of the people who where there. In addition we had a walking tour of zone zero and it was from a fire fighter totally free from the museum.

A must visit! Amazing capture of the events leading to, during and after that terrible day. Stories of heroism not seen before.

Very moving, reliving the plane crashes in the buildings, hearing the sounds, the video images. Then reading the letters of rescuers. Impossible to leave without tears on your cheeks.

This was a moving and heavy tribute to 9/11. We did take our kids (6yrs, 11yrs & 16yrs) to experience this monument and museum. The older ones understood but the 6 year old, naturally did not comprehend why so many died. There was a section about who the terrorists were. We walked quickly through this as I personally could not stand the sight of any of their faces. However the rest of the museum is filled with artifacts that will move you to your core and take you right back to that moment we all remember where we were when these events unfolded.
