Ive been to a couple of shows here in the past month and I have to say they were unique experiences. The theater conserves an old-style New York atmosphere and welcomes everybody into their intimate space as one of their own. The shows were flowing with fresh creative energy from well-known Downtown theater actors and were discussing issues and obstacles that people face in the world nowadays through an authentic filter. Your experience here is guaranteed to be a pleasant and artistically enriching one.

Small, intimate space with comfy chairs, but seems to have been put together by actors rather than craftspeople. Saw some terrific theater here by the shelter, but was less than impressed by the space.

Great space Theater small and intimate. Not for everyone but then stay home and watch TV. Also what do you mean read the other reviews GRIP You wrote all of them ( Bernie Schwartz GC Watch. All the same person) Named Ben I think. Kinda all the same. But any I studied and have done a play at the Frankel and think it is a great stage and House.

I really enjoy this theater space. As a patron, the stage is intimate and the seats are comfy. As an actor, the folks who operate this place make it a joy to come to work. Come see a show here!

We recently had our wedding there and it was astounding. The photos are in and proved to us it was such a magical place to be in. A black box theater true to form, and supportive of many talented and local artists, so were proud to add our wedding to its roster. They were very hospitable and encouraging and it was a blast working with this wild artsy crew. The arts is still alive in Manhattan! Its great to see this kind of place still exist in NoHo! I hope it continues to thrive with many more brilliant performances to come.Thank you, Gene Frankel! It was an honor.

There will always be trolls who didn’t get what they wanted and get angry and use anonymous reviews, create fake names do multiple reviews etc to vent. A great space to see a show and houses 2 of NY ‘s best acting coaches. Let those who didn’t get what they wanted go elsewhere!

Im going to agree with the others in this comment section, Tony Greco is as bad as an acting teacher can get.Gail, the owner of the theatre, continues to associate with him despite the fact that he regularly insults her both in person and behind her back.Shes in good company though. Tony regularly trashes both current and former students. This anger is part of his makeup. Everything he discusses in class has a negative edge to it.Then theres the issue of the technique he teaches. Its a bastardization of Strasbergs Method. It resembles it, but its not the Method. For example, his relaxation exercises cause muscle tension... thats if you can even get through it without him yelling at a student or two.He packs his classes with people, which makes it almost impossible to get specific feedback, something thats very much needed in this work, especially with those just starting out.If youre one of the unlucky two or three students that he singles out for abuse each session, and he asks if you want your money back, his offer is serious. Take him up on it, and run, dont walk to a more reputable teacher.

I read all of the reviews and I still decided to go to Tony Grecos class. What was I thinking? This class is a total cult. Everyone hangs on his every word no matter how boring and stupid it is. No one pays any attention to the new people. I guess we have to become part of the Tony Greco cult first. Theres never any chance to do a full scene for him because theres too many people or he talks and talks so much that only one scene can go up in a three hour session. Or maybe he will only let one actor say a few lines and then he will stop the scene. Yassss, hes also a jerk who yells and insults the majority of the class. From what people tell me, he doesnt do anything more than beginning work ever. Theres never a chance to grow beyond his little bitty first steps. Forget this dude.

Until this place severs its ties with their acting teacher Tony Greco, its complicit in his abuse and self-serving nonsense. Students beware.
