My church held a Sunday service is this magnificent edifice today and my experience was inexplicable. The place is ginormous and colorful with gold finish. The interior is an architectural marvel; the creativity, the layout, the distinctiveness is ethereal. This spellbinding theatre was built in 1930 with a seating capacity of 3,327. It’s pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from a vehicle in normal traffic. The United Palace is one of the most beautiful venues I’ve even been to. Saw a concert here years ago. The seats weren’t comfy but the inside of the building is just magnificent. Highly recommend attending any show or function here. Even if the event isn’t to your liking, it’s worth going to the United Palace just to be inside the building.

This is a beautiful large venue. It fits a little less than 3,400 people. The interior is stunning and awesome for some aesthetic Instagram photos. It is far up, but it is magical venue. My church was here for a field trip service and now meets here regularly every Sunday. Everyone loves the venue.

Beautiful theatre. We were there few months back for historical tour of the theatre. You can feel the palace experience when you are there.

Wow the building is amazing, gorgeous, elegant... It is an art work in itself. I didn’t go there to see the building though. I went to the church to worship God and learn from his word. The worship was great but the sermant was even greater. The pastor talked about labels and how often we put ourselves or others in a box. We take the easy way out instead of getting to know each other and having a relationship.It is easy to forget that we are worthy. We are valuable not because of our ways but because God made us and no one can take that away. So remember that you are valuable and worthy and no one can take that from you.

The United Palace might be a touch full of itself with excessive security and very high prices, but its a rare gem in the world now with many of the classic theaters gone, or worse, left to decay in silent obscurity.Visiting any of the Loews Wonder Theaters that still exist (here, Kings Theater, the Jersey City theater) can all transport you straight back to a time when the architecture was about form above all else.

Great sound, surprisingly comfortable seats and great views of the stage. The theater is a circa 1900s gem - definitely worth the trip uptown. Dont miss La Floridita down the street for authentic Cuban food, too!

Lauren Hill 8:00 show., she staged at 10:00. It seemed no surprise the theater was practically empty at 8:00. She did have start off entertainers at the top of 8 and 9. The show was good. She sang all her songs.

This place is amazing! Every corner tells a story. They also have lots of community events and workshops in both English and Spanish. Totally recommend it.

Since the last week in January Hillsong church has move to the United Palace. It is great what God is doing here. People from diverse cultures and communities meet here with one purpose; to worship God.

The ambiance and decor were superb. The Sound Systems were Excellent. My Wife and I truly enjoyed the show. We look forward to returning in the future to see this artist and will consider attending other events, as well.

Beautiful, opulent old theater. Well kept. Security is very on point. The bathroom attendant manages the line with care. Wear comfortable shoes though, there are a lot of uneven walk spaces and steps. If youre disabled make sure not to get the balcony. Saw a lot of older people struggling to get up and down. Dont understand why they cant set up a basic water and soda station on the upper floors. Youll have to do the marathon walk if you didnt get a drink on the way in.

This building is exquisite. It is majestic. There are 2 bars, one on each level.

Did a movie shoot here as an extra. 181st and Broadway. The interior decor is Beaux Arts. Stunning. It is worth a walk to look at the interior even if you do not see a concert.

Especially if youre going there on a Sunday for Church.Hillsong is the Church that is there now on Sundays and they know how to worship and spread the word.You know what holy spirit is? Go there Sunday and feel what a Christian community can build in a day every Sunday which has been truly built for a very long time by a community of Christians.My favorite pastor, his name is Carl. This guy keeps it real, talks to us like we are living in todays society. There is no noncence with the truth he speaks and he preaches from what seems like its coming straight from God. Word, if u dont believe me, just go there and check it out for yourself.Oh, and when you hear the music, and you feel the vibe, then yeah... thats the spirit!They are around for a reason, and its a higher purpose than what I could even say. One thing I can say though is, its Gods will... Im a believer! You better believe it or keep on steppin...

Nice theatre with comfortable seats and good, clear sound. It has a very cool, elaborately decorated interior like other old movie theaters built in that time period.

United Palace Theater is very stunning and I enjoyed the show tremendously, but the seating capacity was full and when someone is seated in front of you you only get to see half of the theater, has to keep shifting from left to right other than that I enjoyed the show tremendously.

The WORST SOUND of any live music venue I have ever experienced, including outdoor venues. Literally wasted my money trying to experience a concert here.

First time coming to this venue and the atmosphere is amazing! Kanye West had his album listening here and it was a great time. Definitely will be back here soon

Great place if you live jn the area must go inside at least once

This is a massive, old school theater, quite beautiful in that over-the-top way that old theaters or old hotels can pull off. We were there for high school graduation and it worked well for that. Nice, modern restrooms.

Nice place for concerts, huge, location not that great, uses train instead.

I had been there long before for concerts... but this time I went for my daughters graduation, it gave me more time to appreciate the place old charm... just beautiful.

Went to see the Kingdom Hearts orchestra. The facility is good for the show itself, but the bathrooms leave much to be desired. One of the womens stalls has two toilets, which is weird. You can see where construction ended to expand the stall, but the second toilet wasnt removed.

I went to the 5pm Sunday Hillsong Church service hosted at this historica theater, laden with guilded, ornate wood carvings of mithological themes. Love the staircase and balconies. Great sound. Stage is not too tall- easy to see what is going on. Great church service at a beautiful venue. One of the most beautiful spots in NYC!

Wow such a beautiful place! Had graduation here and was simply mesmerized by the architecture and the ceilings. I kept looking up and just looking at all the beautiful details.

Came to.the Dominican Film Festival and it was glorious. The space is stunning and the room was massive. Unfortunately, the chairs arent comfortable or spacious

I havent been inside the place, but Ive been in a little flea market right beside it, Ill say they sometimes have good deals on electronics, but most of those are used and you can get those items brand new for the same or lower price online, including shipping. They have great prices on fruits and vegetables which beats the prices in the bravo supermarket right next to it. Back to United Palace, when I was younger, I thought this place was generally for church goers since they had a large mass take place there on weekends, at least now I know what it is and what its for.

For concerts: If you seat in the Upper Balcony sections you wont enjoy the performance, since the venue has a very weak sound system. Avoid the balcony.Also, bear in mind that the theatre is dated, and the seats urgently need a lift up. Long rows of seats, I pity you if your seat is at the other end of the aisle entrance.The access to the venue is very weird, counter-intuitive and annoying. Managers need to learn from other venues with a more speedy access.Last but not least, the neighborhood surrounding the venue is really ugly.

Great small place. Dont matter were you seat , you will have a decent view. Now the line to park and retrieve your car around the area, are the worst I have ever seen.

I attended a performance on 12/15/18 the performance was AMAZING!!! I hope they bring it back next year and hopefully for the entire weekend. I took my 81 year old mother, 86 year old mother in law, my niece and my grandchildren 12 and 11 years old. We are still talking about how beautifully it was done and the level of talent of the performers. The ushers and security staff were phenomenal. My 12 year old granddaughter became ill during the performance the ushers were courteous, they gave me bottled water for her and escorted us to an outer area so my granddaughter could sit. Security and the ushers checked on us periodically and made us aware that there were EMS personnel available. Which we finally did take advantage of, as her situation worsened. The EMS tended to her and they escorted us to a very quiet location and gave my granddaughter a pair of sunglasses. In the interim security checked in with us several times. After approximately 30-45 minutes she felt better thank God and we returned to the second half of the performance. On a scale of 1-10 the level of professionalism was an 11. Overall my experience was delightful. I am extremely grateful to the security and ushers. Peace and Blessings and Merry Christmas.

I am disabled. I was in the 1st row. My Granddaughter exited right their. I stood up for literary 30 seconds,. a women with blonde hair was so nasty the way she told me to sit down Traveled from FL to NY for this. I got 1 picture with that women half blocking it

It looks amazing, the place has an air of majestic, the decorations on the ceiling and walls are great, it seems like a place from back in time, and so were the mens room, they were like no so private if you wanted to urinate, the style of the urinary were antiquated and very original from back in time, I guess that was ok given the place

I went to go see El Bachataso Del AMor and they stopped Luis Vargas from singing after three songs, they dont do things like that in other places I dont think I will be returning.

Amazing place!

For the theater, the inside is absolutely one of the most amazing architecturally designed theaters Ive seen in my own city in quite some time. Its almost impeccable. The ceilings, walls and staircase, even the outside is of old world victorian lusciousness that you dont really get much else where outside of NY or Europe. Its really one to visit...However, with that in mind, the security to get in, I felt like I was in an airport and a suspected terrorist. I understand they need security in some form, but the amount of security is absolutely insane. I know its in a slight-hood, but come on, whos here, the pope? I went for a video game music concert!Also, on the way there, I almost got stabbed by some guy claiming I was making fun of him, (possibly mentally unstable). Has nothing to do with the theater, but that shows that its not exactly in a safe part of town, hence the security. I was also told I couldnt bring in an electronic cigarette at all because theyd confiscate it, regardless theyre more safe than a lighter.Im no punk at all, but it just makes me feel a little upset that I would have to go through insane security that roughly feels you up, and keeping my guard up during the duration of the train ride to get there. Thats the reason I go to nice theaters like this, so I can relax.Conclusion: Id go again, but itd have to be a really prestigious show (though the one I went to this time was worth it!) And Id also take a cab to and from, so I dont have to bust out my rusty blade, hahaha.

Nice place. Be aware that when there is event, parking rate are higher that normal. Use public transportation (subway,bus) if you can, if not come early and try to find a street parking.

Drinks are expensive and small. Sits are too close, but other then that is a good place.

I bought at the box office, 2 weeks in advance, a ticket for the Emmanuel concert for Fri, 12/6/19. When I got there to see the show, the place was closed. Not a notice or sign to be found to state the show had been cancelled. There were many people outside wondering what happened. The next day I called the box office and was informed the concert had been cancelled a few days before and people had been notified via e mail, but they had my e mail wrong. I dont care too much about having them write my e mail wrong when I made the purchase, but question why wouldnt there be a sign AT THE VENUE letting people know it had been cancelled !?. Literally, dozens of people in my same situation were wondering around asking each other what happened, obviously no one knew the answer at the spot. Now, they gave me a refund but 6 working days have passed and my credit card has not been credited. They have very bad regard for the customer on both accounts.

We go here for the Cultural Arts movies. So gorgeous and fun. Thank you Linda Manuel Miranda for putting this place back in the community!

Concert was good besides for the security, they were absolutely horrible and had no idea what they were doing. They couldn’t control anyone and then started to get frustrated with customers who had done nothing wrong. Absolutely disgusting behavior from the staff. 10/10 will never step foot in that building again.

Very poor customer service with faulty seating. Instead of moving me to any of the multiple open seats, customer service insisted on fixing my broken seat during the start of the concert and to no avail. They need a new management team ASAP.

This place resonates history, it is beautiful

The grandeur and opulent gold enduced walls was extravagantly marvelous. I felt like a king walking around the theater. Security was on point, freindly, smiling and very helpful. Bar tender was very comprehensive and smiling. It was a very grandiose experience.

Terrible place. I missed my daughters graduation because of overzealous security. why do they feel that they can touch a person without first giving warning. why are family members going to a graduation treated like family visiting a prisoner at rikers island. google doesnt allow for a rating less than one star. I will definitely be writing letters. I have another child that will have graduation there in 3 years and I will be staying away from that for sure. Im going to raise the issue with Bronx High school of Science parents association and see if they will look into moving the venue. if they dont, I will be withholding my childs senior dues and boycotting graduation.
