When amazing classic theater. So close to Times Square. On the outside he has all these classic columns and Masonary work call. It’s just starting to look at. A real slice of old Broadway theater history. Now in houses the Harry Potter and the cursed child show. I can’t wait to get inside and see it when I can get some tickets.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was the most dynamic play I’ve seen. The incorporation of choreography and music into a non-musical really bright a lot of energy to the performance and set the changing tone. The technical mastery to bring this story to life was unlike anything I’d seen. The overall ambiance and seating in the theatre was lovely. The overall performance spectacular.

Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play was spectacular and grander than I could ever imagine. The special effects were dazzling and downright magical. It must have taken hundreds of not thousands of hours to set up the theater for production. Even if you arent a fan of Harry Potter, the play is worth seeing just for the special effects. Otherwise you have no excuse. The theater is wonderful and regal and reminds me of Lincoln Center. Restrooms and plentiful and available on multiple floors. Even the downstairs bathroom lobby is nice.

This is a review of the theater and not the show.Lyric is a well-run, organized theater. I came to see Harry Potter and the experience was wonderful. The interior and exterior decor adds to the show. The staff is friendly and helpful. You get numerous emails and notifications on the entrance procedures. The seating is slightly uncomfortable after a while but its a beautiful theater. I sat in Orchestra row X on the even side and I missed some of the overhead action. Rows behind P are below the balcony overhang so you will not see anything happening above the audience. I might recommend the balcony over these rows.

The show is everything you expect and hope - filled with excitement and magic. Felt as though it follows the tone and cadences of the book series well, with Part One being more light and fun and Part Two, a bit heavier and darker. Really fun treat for any Harry Potter fans and approachable for anyone who hasn’t read the books (my plus one had not and still understood everything). Also, you can order food to your seat and pre order your wine upstairs. It was a game changer come intermission.

Their staff! I did not see an upset or stressed expression on any of them. Every single one, down to the bathroom attendant, was pleasant and exuded happiness. (Maybe because the play on the stage was Harry Potter!?)My overall assessment is that The Lyric Theater is expert at keeping the flow of people moving. I was towards the end of a long line waiting for the doors to open, but when they did, the line moved through security checks quickly and efficiently. The concession stands are dotted here and there so you can purchase your snacks and move through the crowds. The clean, well-ordered bathrooms had different doors for entering and exiting. No need to push your way through people waiting to enter when you are done. There was seating by the bathroom and in some areas outside the auditorium for waiting. The seats within were well-maintained and clean. The gift shop items are also available online and I notice they are different selection from any associated with the “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” museum exhibit.

Truly a most spellbinding experience and I’m not just saying that because of the play this venue hosts. Quaint but well maintained, this theatre considers the details to complement the play - down to the floor carpet and wall paintings. Sound projection and effects are great during the the play, absorbing you in the moment. Nice drinks and snack bar, with a merch shop that leaves you spoilt for choice. Service is friendly and swift, security stern but professional as it should be.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll love this show. I’m a fan. ;). It’s a two-part show, so it’s a long day, but it was worth it. I was lucky to win lottery tickets via Today Tix so that was a bonus. Great seats too. This theatre was clean. For the above, I would have given more stars. However, the customer service was lacking. The employees were not friendly. They seemed annoyed at being there. This was from the waiter to the ushers. Also, had two drinks and a small popcorn which came out to $45 (yikes) from a waiter that couldn’t even crack a smile.

I’m going to take negative approach here. Went to a lot of trouble and expense to leave our family and fly to New York. Bought tickets to see Harry Potter. Sat down on first row of balcony seats 128-130 and literally couldn’t see a thing. I’m 6’0” tall which is kind of average and the angle of the seats makes it so you literally can’t see. Talked to two ushers who sent me to two to the manager, Libby. Libby said she’s come find us if there were seats available and never, over the two night play came to help. She told me to talk to the box office so walked to theatre the next day and wasted another 30 minutes and they said sorry. The tickets did not say there was an instruction. Libby and others said it’s easy to see and made it sound like it was our fault. It was bad. I get around and this was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had.If they had admitted the problem and told the truth it would have been fine. They didn’t. They blew it off and didn’t care. Really disappointed. Sadly it’s all about money and not doing what is right. That’s a sad commentary about a lot of things in our world today. Great example about how not to act and how not to treat people. Huge failure on the part of the lyric theatre. The funny thing was I looked around and could see open seats. I’m surprised that after intermission they didn’t come and offer to help us see at least half of the play. Disappointing.Enjoy the view down my seats...see pictures. I think it’s safe to say that was obstructed. :)

This theater is absolutely beautiful. Comfortable and has many options for drinks before a show and during intermission. Plus delivery to your seat which is awesome. This theatre is very well managed and the staff is very courteous and helpful. Libby was extremely helpful in helping me and my husband (who is in a wheelchair but can transfer) get to our seats and explain the process of where to go, restrooms, intermission, etc. Since we came with a wheelchair we had to enter the theatre on the other side through a different entrance. There was also a separate bathroom for my husband to be able to use that was very convenient and made the experience even more pleasurable. Overall the experience here was fantastic and would highly recommend this theatre regardless of the show that is playing (ours was Harry Potter) because the staff (Libby, Mike, and the lady that escorted us to the theatre from the separate entrance - Im sorry I didnt catch your name) were so amazing. Wow! Unbelievable! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was amazing! The “magic” and special effects alone are worth seeing it. I found the theatre to be clean, decorated in the HP themes. The security were efficient at getting people in and out. The ushers “played along” with the show, saying “Happy Voldemort Day” when we came back for part II, cute and pleasant. Whether you enter the theater on 42nd or 43rd, the lyric theatre its a beautiful and creative venue. However if you are here for Harry Potter, it is recommended you enter on the more crowded 42nd Street entrance to get the full immersion into the Potter world. There are large restrooms on the lowest level with a guaranteed line during intermission. In fact, there are much smaller restrooms on the dress circle level that will have a shorter turnaround. Be sure to read the historical backing off the lyric. Its fascinating story is recorded on large sums in the main lobby. This is what theater is all about. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, the lady sitting next to me at both performances was so large, she spilled over into my seat and I couldn’t sit there. I asked to be reseated. Helpful usher went to management multiple times - but was never offered any refund - and initially no assistance at all. Finally after the ushers 3rd attempt I was reseated - but into an obstructed view seat in back of theater - for both shows. So, even though I paid a lot for my seat - I really can’t evaluate the show as I could only hear much of it. Would hope that the theater / production would be better equipt to handle these situations - am sure they are profitable. Really disappointing. Can’t bring myself to try to see it again. Had an amazing time at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Pt 1 & 2 on Saturday Jan 26th. Our seats were row 2 orchestra and we were literally in the action. To keep with the #keepthesecrects theme I wont spoil any major parts of the play. The only negative issue if any would be our seats while in row 2 really based on our location and seating configuration of the theater were really row 1 and some of the action on stage we were unable to see. If your extremely tiny I would not recommend sitting this close. My wife is 5 Ft 1 inch and had a hard time seeing some scenes.Technically the actual first row center (we were right behind this) was even closer and even harder to see. Honestly though the special effect details you may miss are not make or break choosing this location and as a die hard fan it was a dream come true for me. The staff was above friendly and helpful. Merchandise was (and there is lots to choose which changes per part) priced much cheaper than I expected and this was a pleasant surprise as they could have hiked prices up 200% but they didnt. My final thoughts are two things I found helpful. The play has 2 entrances 42nd and 43rd st. We found the 43rd street entrance had a much shorter line to go through security. We breezed through 43rd St for PT 1 but waited in a long line for PT 2. After Pt 1 ended wich was 4:50 PM we had plenty enough time for a sit down meal on a Saturday evening at Olive Garden in Times Square and made it back to PT 2 before they opened the doors. The play ended at 10:10 PM .
