Had a great time over the weekend at the Spyscape museum in NYC, and I must say this is not your typical average museum.Sure you take a deep dive into the world of espionage with a variety of interesting displays but you also actively engage in the world of espionage. You also get learn about different techniques necessary for different spy roles and you test your espionage abilities in addition to taking a wide range of physical and mental aptitude tests. At the end besides leaving with a substantial knowledge of the history of espionage and the skills involved you also receive a report regarding what type of roles you would be most suited for which in my own case, Im qualified to be a #Spycatcher... whatever that isIt was an extremely fun and enlightening museum. The James Bond exhibition was awesome most especially if youre a James Bond fan at heart. It was my first time seeing the iconic Aston Martin DB5 live along with all its hidden gadgets as designed by the multiple Academy Award winning Production Designer - Ken Adams. All in all, it was a good diversion from my regular weekend routine since the last 7 months and Spyscape is definitely one of the top five museums Ill always recommend to any of my NY friends (guest and residents) and most especially if youre an ardent James Bond @007 fan! What James Bond film is your favorite? And oh!... yall should give me a follow on Instagram @dapoibrahimtv !!!

It was AWESOME! If youre into the world of espionage then this is your spot! They have lots of books and information regarding spies and each room has stories and artifacts created and used during the years by spies alongside their stories and you can answer questions and play games that will determined what type of spy you are! I had a lot of fun!

Less of a museum (although the small collection contains some fascinating pieces, and is expertly laid out), more of an interactive experience. Organised around different espionage skills, each area focussing on a story related to the particular skill, along with fun activities. Great care has been taken with COVID-19 precautions for reopening, and we had a great (socially distanced) time!

What an awesome place- 1 part museum to 2 parts experience! The collection of exhibits hits everything from the cryptology of WWII to the growth of hacking over the last 10 years. But you dont just read signs here-- the exhilarating part comes from the challenges to determine what kind of spy are you apt to be - from personality tests to a laser tunnel. And when you find out where you fit in the realm of espionage you can shop in an AMAZING bookstore!

The personality and aptitude tests are really the highlight of this place. To be honest we should definitely have spent more time looking at the actual exhibits but it was mostly a lot of reading. Very good covid precautions (even better because we were the only ones there). The 007 exhibit was free on promotion, which was good because it wouldnt have been worth it to pay to get in. Definitely good for old movie buffs like my grandpa, but not for people who just think James Bond is cool. Overall a lot of fun, but a bit overpriced (though most things in nyc are).

Such a unique, interactive and enjoyable place! Not only do you learn a lot about the history of spies, you get to participate in multiple challenges to see what you’re like as a spy then you get an assessment at the end to see exactly what type of spy you would be. THEN their gift shop is organized by the type of spies there are, very smart. There’s also a book store that has a great variety! Staff is super nice, place is very clean!

What an excellent and exciting experience. They really put a lot of thought and effort into making it enjoyable for everyone. My wife couldnt care less about espionage, but she really did have a great time. The whole interactive experience and the activities were informative. They seem to tried to remain neutral and apolitical in their exhibits. while there is no mention of the Rosenbergs, I learned about Robert Hanssen, FBI agent who spied for the soviets and then later Russia. They detailed his trap and subsequent capture. You can also learn about industrial espionage and how your phone spies on you. Last bit not least, they have a wing dedicated to 007, James Bond, naturally. RIP Sir Sean Connery. I just wish it was open more than just Friday, Saturday and Sunday and that it was bigger.

This place is amazing but let us not forget the punishment for spying is death. In 1917, Congress passed the Espionage Act. This is a law that prohibits spying with the punishment of a 20 year prison sentance and a $20,000 fine. But that was then, now the penalties for conviction under the Espionage Act and other anti-spying laws can range from deportation to incarceration to charges of treason and get read for this execution! SPYSCAPE has a fun side but never forget spying is a deadly business if caught.

Heard so much about this place even before I reached NYC, was recommended the same from a friend I made while there and oh boy, it did not disappoint. Worth the hype and some more. Everything from the museum to the James bond collection was out of the world. The laser tag concept tag game was so fun that I went for it multiple times just to get into the top 10. This museum is super cool, a lot of fun and a must visit!!!We visited this place (an interactive spy museum) after a friend recommended it and oh boy did we have a real fun afternoon! The ticket is priced at $39 for adults and its totally worth it. Plan ahead if youre visiting as you can easily spend 2-3 hours here. Upon entry everyone is given a digital wristband which is basically your ID and can be used at every interactive kiosk and games to build your spy profile. They have a lot of information on spies, world war 2 and some past missions which is so cool to read and extremely informative. The laser tunnel and surveillance are the most popular and fun interactive games here. (You can play laser tunnel as many times as you like ). This place is perfect for dates or even with group of friends. They also have a cafe and a gift shop inside. Highly recommend.

This is a must for espionage enthusiasts. It felt short and gimmick at times but some of the exhibitions were fantastic. Being able to play with an enigma machine and learn about the many famous spies in history was awesome. The personalized ID tag that asks you to go through different activities to match you with a type of spy is cool but feels superficial and at times gimmicky (the special ops game where you try to hit as many glowing buttons while not touching a laser tops that list). Still, its a good experience overall and a must for someone that enjoys spy stuff. I didnt get to see the 007 Bond exhibit so Ill be returning for that one...

I absolutely LOVED this museum. I was worried that it would lack any significant content, but it was the perfect balance of interactive exhibit and historical/technical information. Im a huge nerd about the Enigma machine and was especially pleased to see a room dedicated to it, and, even as an adult, enjoyed the interactive components. Yes, the tickets are a bit pricey, but it really is worthwhile. I dont think Id visit another time, because it really is the type of thing that could get old easily, but I strongly recommend it. We had a great time at the exhibit. A lot of the information went over my daughters head (shes 6) but I knew going in that it was for older kids and she had a blast with all of the interactive exhibits, so it definitely wasnt a mistake to take her. I love that you buy tickets for specific times as the space was never overly crowded. The 007 add on was interesting, but might be boring for anyone who isnt a true James Bond fan, especially after how interactive the rest of the exhibit was. The layout was a tad confusing, but they explained at the beginning that there was no specific order to the stations.

This week I also attended the National Spy Museum in Washington DC and I have to say that museum was a lot more informative. My visit was on Wednesday mid afternoon and it was a great time to book cause it wasn’t crowded. It took us 1 1/2 hrs to get through it. If you book online it’s $5 dollars cheaper. My son and stepson and I took the train out to New York to go to dinner and do some shopping, and I was looking for something else to do while we were there. I came across Spyscape online and we had to give it a try. The first thing I will say is if you want to visit Spyscape, its probably best to buy your tickets ahead of time online. It was so packed the day we visited that we had to buy our tickets online for an hour later and come back to use them. All members of your party should be present to check in because each person gets a bracelet which will be used throughout the exhibit and is coded with your name. The one issue I had with Spyscape is that they put too many people into a group at once, and every thing you do here is interactive, meaning you are waiting in line at each spot to participate. We waited in lines of 15 people at a time and would have been there for hours if we insisted on doing each thing available. There was a life size replica of Christopher (Turings decoding machine) which was incredibly cool. Because it was so busy, we decided to check out the 007 exhibit (separate fee) and found that it was almost empty. It happened to be our favorite part of Spyscape! There were tons of real movie props and sketches from all eras of the Bond movies. Overall a good experience but just so crowded. We were there the day before New Years Eve, so I know that contributed to how busy it was, but I get the feeling they are still a very popular place.

Very fun place to spend ~2hrs but it costs 42$ per person(with 5$ discount when purchased online) its not somewhere youd go twice like a normal museum. Nevertheless they give various information about the spy history and you pass multiple challenges to come up with your own spy profile. Thanks to the price mostly there are not that many kids running around so you get to read and observe historical facts in a peace of mind. Most of the adults get shy on the laser challenge, due to the fact that youre getting filmed and displayed to the spectators but still go for it. Again 42$… if youre bored with the museums in NY good escapade, if not just head towards natural history museum and pay whatever you deem fair.

There was no one there to guide us to what was in which spot , i didn’t even see any employees around . They kind of just threw us up stairs and had us figure it out on our own , and on top of that there was maintenance people right in the middle of it all working on the floor . Horrible HORRIBLE experience . Don’t waste your money or time .
