I dont pretend to know anything about art so cant/wont rattle on and on about how _____s piece was here and how it moved me BUT I think if youre in NY and planning to visit an art museum, why not the Guggenheim? Id say almost anyone is familiar with this iconic building but the design and layout of the building inside is equally quirky. Again, Im not familiar enough with art to comment on any of the collections but enjoyed my time here.

Nice museum but not my favorite. Time admission made it not crowded and everyone died social distancing. Since you have to follow the arrows and walk up the spiral ramp after about 2 hours my back was hurting. Most of the exhibits are on the spiral ramp. Definitely download the app so you can listen to info on some of the pieces.

A great place to experience art. The building itself is a work of art and all of the exhibits are relevant to todays issues and past forcing you to think deeper about society and culture. If you want to just stroll the curve of the building youll still take in a great amount of art. The Guggenheim has Dega, Pacasio, and more. Its not an overwhelming museum but easy to view within an hour or so.

Sweet museum! There’s like, art, EVERYWHERE! I guess the only drawback was that when we went there, there was some sort of deal going where we could get in with not so much fee. So, EVERYONE was there. I counted them. According to my rough (very rough) calculations about 1.2% of the city population was there. But seriously even with so many people it was worth the time and effort. There are classics, new pieces, fun and interesting pieces and some that are challenging and thought provoking.

If you’re into architecture and modern art then this place is perfect for you. The outside and inside is amazing. It’s very whimsical. I brought it one star because it’s really not very young kid friendly. It needs to be organized more appropriately for all families regardless of the age of the kid. The cafe needs more food options and at appropriate pricing. Seems a bit pricey for what you get. If you’re a tourist. You can check this out and check out Central Park across the street or Cooper Hewitt Museum a few blocks away. This can all be done in one trip if you don’t mind walking.

The current exhibition wasnt really art, on the lower floor it was more of a mural curtain, its called: Countryside, The Future. The side rooms were more interesting for me. Countryside the future is an exhibition addressing urgent environmental, political, and socioeconomic issues through the lens of architect and urbanist Rem Koolhaas and Samir Bantal, Director of AMO, the think tank of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). A unique exhibition for the Guggenheim Museum, Countryside, The Future will explore radical changes in the rural, remote, and wild territories collectively identified here as “countryside,” or the 98% of the Earth’s surface not occupied by cities, with a full rotunda installation premised on original research. The project presents investigations by AMO, Koolhaas, with students at the Harvard Graduate School of Design; the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing; Wageningen University, Netherlands; and the University of Nairobi. The exhibition will examine the modern conception of leisure, large-scale planning by political forces, climate change, migration, human and nonhuman ecosystems, market-driven preservation, artificial and organic coexistence, and other forms of radical experimentation that are altering landscapes across the world.

The museum itself is unique due to it’s shape and design. They offer a free coat check in the main level. The museum has seven levels and special exhibitions are presented on various levels. Walking up the rotunda got me dizzy, therefore, we decided to take the elevator to the 6th floor and walk our way down. We got to the museum at around 12pm, it was a great time because it wasn’t so crowded. He had a chance to view every piece of art without any wait. Restrooms are available throughout the museum. Although, the museum has a lot to offer, I only rated this museum a 3, because of the personnel. Some employees were rude and condescending.

A landmark work of 20th-century architecture designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The cylindrical building, wider at the top than at the bottom, was conceived as a temple of the spirit. Its unique ramp gallery extends up from ground level in a long, continuous spiral along the outer edges of the building to end just under the ceiling skylight. The building underwent extensive expansion and renovations in 1992 when an adjoining tower was built, and from 2005 to 2008.

The Guggenheim is a good time. It features a variety of classic cultural artistic images and artifacts with some collectable cools. Every couple months they switch it up to provide an intellectual range of artsy representations with creative designs. The structure of the building winds upwards as you explore each featured exposition. The staff arent nearly as friendly and helpful as they could be, taking off a star here because they gave me a hard time in the ticket line for no reason, but apart from that, coming here has usually been a very positive experience.

I really like this as an exhibition space on the whole. I love the overall design idea of the building and the way it spirals up. An amazing architectural achievement. We did get a little lost once or twice, having ventured into a side room, but luckily we found a friendly staff member /security guard to point us in the right direction.I havent marked it 5 stars for two reasons.*The wall spiralling up on the inside of the building and forming a barrier to the open central hall below, was too low. Im average height and it felt too low to be safe for me, let alone my 6 4 tall husband and the man we found staying fearfully close to the outer wall for safety, not daring to get too close to the massive drop below. As art is often viewed by people walking steadily backward to find the best perspective, it feels like an accident waiting to happen.* I was surprised to find that I couldnt quite make out what I was looking at in one of the pieces of art, due to lightbulb reflections! This seems a remarkable oversight for such a prestigious place with the sole purpose of displaying artwork! That said, I loved that there was a whole section dedicated to childrens artwork and I enjoyed much of the main collection. The cafeteria has almond milk for coffee! (Just thought Id mention that as its such a treat for me to be able to enjoy a coffee out and about. I got the impression during my brief stay, that this is commonly available in NYC.)

Ive been trying to check out the Guggenheim for the past few trips Ive taken to NYC and havent been able to make it, but having finally visited, it was well worth the wait. Structurally unique to any museum Ive ever been too, it is a Frank Lloyd Wright architectural masterpiece that works to enhance the experience and viewing of the exhibitions held inside. Ascending or descending, proceeding through the museum is easy, allowing you to focus on the art. As for the collections, they are expertly curated. For the spiral (on my visit, it was Hilma af Klimt), you are progressively taken through the artists work, telling the story of the exhibit procedurally by taking advantage of the layout. With the side wings, they are all little pockets of concentrated material, with greats like Picasso and Kandinsky. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the museum and its a must visit for any museum lover.
